Flex :: Force DataTips To Display On Graph Permanently
Nov 1, 2011I assume I need to override the mouse over and mouse off event so that they don't do anything and then trigger the mouse over event for each column on the graph.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Layers Display Permanently After Each-other On The Timeline?
Dec 12, 2010Right now I have the typical timeline where I have several layers but the problem is all the content doesnot display permanently after its run through the timeline.For example layer 1 will play then disappear and then layer 2 will play through and disappear.
Is there an ActionScript that I can have for example layer 1 play through and display permanently then layer 2 plays and does the same thing, layer 3... so on and so forth one after the other until all the images are shown?I've searched all over but every ActionScript code pauses the entire timeline.

Question: Can you force immediate display of the toolTip (errorTip) rather than waiting for the user to hover over the control? If so, how?

You can hover over any of the bar graph examples on this page for a demonstration. I have a graph situation where I optionally draw in some dots as reference points on CartesianDataCanvases supplied to my AreaChart through it's <mx:annotationElements> and <mx:backgroundElements> tags.
I would like to have the same hover data-tip functionality that the AreaChart has, but applied to these dots. I realize that I am just drawing on canvas, and that no actual dataProvider supports these dots, but if there was a way to supply the CartesianDataCanvas with an array of data values or something to that effect,

Aug 11, 2010I wrote a function to override y FLEX LineChart's datatips because the default datatips were ugly and rather boring.I finally set the style I wanted but am now having some problems removing un-necessary tags from being displayed in the custom datatips.For example, the datatips now display things like this:
"<b>Humidity</b></BR>2010-07-05T00:15:00"
I can always perform a "Replace()" to remove those break and bold HTML tags, but that seems really un-necessary and anti-development.I am using this to set the dataTip's label text:

Jan 28, 2011I'm attempting to take a process that previously ran multiple remote object calls in parallel and make them run in serial.I know it's a hackish approach (bandaid!), but so far my approach has been to take this for-loop that started each parallel request:[code]Where _pause_queue is a private global boolean for the class. In the fault-handler and response-handler functions, it is set back to false, so that the infinite where-loop is released and the for loop will continue.This is functional, but the UI only updates after the while-loop ends, which causes the negative side effect that it looks like the application is hung while waiting for a response.
Is there something I can put inside the while loop to allow flash to update the display? In VB (ugh!) I would use DoEvents, but I don't know of an equivalent for Actionscript.Alternately, is there a way to add a simple queueing system short of completely rewriting the application? This is legacy code and I'm on a tight deadline so I'd like to modify it as little as possible. (Otherwise I would rewrite it from the ground up and use Swiz to get the Event Chaining.)

Feb 27, 2010I've created a Flex LineChart that shows high and low tide predictions over time. I'm using the LineSeries with form="curve", which produces a nice sinusoidal wave graph, representing water level over time. The X-axis represents time, and the Y-axis represents water level. The only data points I have to work with are high and low tide values, but I would like to figure out how to determine the y-values of arbitrary x-values along the line.[code]

showAllDataTips will not work in this case as it will display all datatips on the chart.

Mar 21, 2012im using stopAllSounds();command to mute all sounds, and it works fine with sounds that are already loaded (background music), but if there is button which triggers some new sound (after activating mute button ) or any other function to import new sound object you still can hear it despite stopAllSounds();.which command to use to permanently block all sounds already loaded and those which can be triggered by future actions.Now i have stupid situation> background music is muted but you can still hear sounds when cliclking buttons (which is ok but NOT in muted stage).

Jan 10, 2011I have an app w/ a login screen. When the user hits "enter", the state changes to "login" & a child component is triggered to load (though the child stays invisible at the moment). The child contains many functions that the user needs upon logging in (ie their screenname & settings are retrieved from a database). The following is included in 'Parent':

My problem is when a user logs out (state changes to 'Default') & then logs back in (state changes back to 'login') the child doesn't get "triggered" again & the functions w/in the child don't reload. Is there a way to force my child to refresh?
Note: While it would be easier to just move the child's functions to the parent it is complex...I moved these functions to the child to make it easier to follow
UPDATE: I even tried adding an "exitState" to my state:
<s:State name="login" exitState="removeElement(localComp)" />
This doesn't work either, as I get an error: "RangeError: Index 0 is out of range."
UPDATE: Even though you are allowed to call a child's function from a parent, my problem is that the child needs to be "created" in order to not show errors. It makes no sense to me why the flex team would make something like removing & adding children so complicated.
Flex :: Force The Browser To Put Up Scrollbars?
Jan 28, 2011I'm using an iFrame in a Flex 3 project. The problem is that if the user opens my site in a small browser window, they don't get scrollbars. How can I solve this problem? Is there a way to force the browser to put up scrollbars?
If I set the main app to horizontalScrollPolicy="on" verticalScrollPolicy="on" or to "auto", then as you scroll down, the iFrame is stuck to the top of the browser window and obscures the content.
