In my case I want to load the signed framework RSLs into the flash player cache. Seems to work, but how can I validate, that the swz is really being loaded into the flash player cache?
On my Linux box I tried to find some kind of file in ~/.macromedia, but was not successful.
Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?

I have built a simple Flash application that will be presented using a projector, the application will show messages in the form of questions that will come from a simple flat-file text file or XML file.
In addition to this I would also like to be able to add my own messages using a simple HTML form.
I've been looking around the web for some resources, but have been struggling to find what I am looking for. The basic idea is that the flash application will loop through these different messages from the XML, but then when a user types in a message that will also appear within these messages. Think of it as a sort of dynamic tag cloud.
I've created a portfolio with animated image buttons and arrows navigation (all nested movie clips). All navigation is handled using goAndStop() at frame labels. The site has a lot of image content, so to keep the initial swf download reasonably brief, I've used many separate (renamed) instances of loader component.I assume the loader component is just graphical substitute for typing in the loadMovie() command for people like myself who are inexperienced with scripting.
With normal server traffic and T1 level bandwidth the lag time after click is 1-2 secs.
Acceptable, but sometimes it gets up to 5+ seconds, which compromises the user experience (and might cost me a client). Is there a command string I can insert into a frame in the actions layer at the start of the timeline (after progress bar) to preload all external files into the player's cache after runtime begins?
Do FMS cores share the same FLV cache or does each core have it's own cache?
View 1 RepliesI am writing a Flex application for use on a private intranet with no external Internet access. I want to use Google's 3D Maps Flex API, but it must be connected to the internet to download map tiles on demand.
Is there a way to locally cache the 3D map tiles and data so that I can run this app without an internet connection? And if not, is there a 3D GIS that supports Flex integration and allows for a local map cache?
I'm customizing an xml flash website and while I can handle all the html and xml well enough, but in Flash, I have no clue how to:
Now go on the stage, and delete the contents of the last layer(background & pattern). Here, add from the library, the square movieclip, and name it mcBackColor(see attached image).And then to add your swf background in the "background & pattern" layer from the main.fla file.
I can change the name, but don't know how to delete just the contents of the layer and then add the new clip.I've made a slideshow before and that's all I can do.
I have built a flex application which has a "main" project and it is assosciated with a few RSL's which are loaded and cached once i run my "main" application. The problem i am facing is that the newer versions of my RSL's are not being loaded as the cache holds the older version of my RSL and execxutes the same. Each time i have got to clear the cache to execute the new version of my RSL's, which is irritating.

But can I clear the cache? After trashing the files in windows, I don't see the files get downloaded again (with fiddler).
View 2 RepliesI've got a model class with a bunch of Number variables that change frequently. They all dispatch their custom events, thus are bindable. In my UI, a couple of those class instances are bundled into an ArrayList that serves as the dataprovider for a Spark DataGrid. The class variables change perfectly fine, so problem there.
What I'd like to do now is to change the color formatting of those numbers (the corresponding labels in the gridcoloums to be exact) depending on the data that comes in, so to say change in green when the new value is bigger, change to red when the new value is smaller than the old one.

View 1 RepliesIf I am on a flash heavy website, and I clear my browser cache, the site continues to function. Chances are the entire swf is not loaded into flash's active memory at the time I clear the browser cache (especially for sites that use large rsl libraries such as papervision3d). I can verify this with flash-builder's profiling tools. So, where are the swf libraries kept on disk (or in memory somewhere else?) which allow the site to continue to function?

I have set the ETAG and last-modified tag in http reponse header, but sometimes, when the user click the refresh, the swf file still be reloaded. Having studied the the HTTP Proxy (Charles) it seems that AIR will cache the first response and then return the same response for each subsequent request.Does anybody know how to know if the response has been cached other than setting the URLRequest to useCache, but this doesn't say if the response was a cached response or not. The digest isn't set on the URLRequest either, although it does mention this is for swz only, so how does it know if the content is the current content or not? Is the responseHeaders used to find out how long to hold the cache i.e.Cache-Control: max-age=900
Also does anyone know how to flush/purge the cache or are we at the whim of the GC and in that case how does it know if to leave it in the cache or now?This makes sense to me, but still I would like to know how to regulate this cache.Further more: I've tested a set up where parallel URLLoaders (10) are made and created which open the same url to see what happens in that instance. It seems that each parallel request is made until a successful response is given, all subsequent calls are then cached. Calls which are sent out before the successful request is then completed. It looks like the items which are already in being processed do not use the cache and return with correct data.Additional The AIR runtime doesn't even send a "If-Modified-Since" header, so the cache isn't even honoring HTTP protocol. So it seems as if Adobe has implemented it's own version of a cache which doesn't even use HTTP/1.1 Header Field Definitions.
If I don't specify width and height values for a TitleWindow, it will be resized to fit it's contents when I show it using PopUpManager. But there are moments when some components inside will be resized, like a ComboBox which dataProvider is loaded asynchronously, or another component which was not visible and I'd like to set it's includeInLayout to true. In those moments, I'd like to tell the TitleWindow to resize itself to fit window contents. I've tried calling invalidateSize() and invalidateDisplayList() with no success.
View 2 RepliesMy Flex app downloads a bunch of images. When the user closes the browser window (or navigates away from the page), those images shouldn't be saved in the local cache. HTTP headers for the SWF file tells browser to fetch it from the website every time -- that is, it shouldn't save the SWF file locally. I just want to make sure that any of the images that the Flex app downloads isn't saved locally.
I checked Windows XP & Flash 9 for this. And nothing was stored locally. I assume this is true across all platforms and all versions of Flash greater than 9?
I am trying to get the contents of an arraycollection to print out using my debug function (which takes a string). Anyone know how to do this? I would like it would be rather easy but can't seem to find a way...I get the word "Object" printed a lot of the time.

View 2 RepliesI am working on tabNavigator in flex 3. I have tileList within it. Contents in the tab comes dynamically so I cannot provide explicitly fixed height and width. I need to resize the tabs depending on the contents within it. To resize the tabs I have enabled 'resizeToContent' property of tabNavigator.For some reason it is not resizing as expected. 'resizeToContent' works fine for other child items in tabNavigator but fails when I use tileList as child in tabNavigator that time tileList resizes to its default size(4 rows are only visible). So i was wondering if there any way so that I can force tileList to display all its items without putting scrollbars after its default size.
just by invalidating size on creationComplete ,will that resize all tabs for me. I am having n-number of tabs in tabNavigator as user can add tabs and content within it. how can I achieve this. I am new to flex so just getting confused with its behaviorand struggling with this issue from long time.

it's all fine and dandy, the data gets populated correctly and i verified that the data.image_path property arrives safe and sound inside the itemrenderer.
my only problem is: the image is not displaying. i am not sure if it doesn't render at all or if it's just not visible somehow.
My ant buildfiles tell mxmlc.jar to recompile target mxml source. However, if the target mxml source file has not changed, either ant or mxmlc is ignoring the file and will not create a new swf. This is an annoyance because I'm editing files imported by the target mxml. I need it to rebuild when those files change. I'm guessing that the mxmlc is creating a cache file somewhere and comparing the target mxml (or maybe just a hash). Is this what is happening? What's the standard work-around? At the moment, I'm editing the target mxml just to cause a file change.
