I'd like to create an HSlider so that the skin of the track is different on either side of the thumb. So, for example, the track on the left side of the thumb is green, but red on the other.Is this possible or will it take a custom component?

I only know how to set the skin for SliderThumb which will set the skin for both. Does anyone know of a way to set a different skin for each thumb?

I'm using Flash HSlider component. I used a slider with several thumbs. I'd like to prevent the user from draging just the middle thumb, but can drag other thumbs. I don't know how to do it.
View 1 RepliesI'm moving an HSlider thumb via the accelerometer. The following code works fine. The problem, though, is that as I keep tilting the device, xSpeed continues to increment. This means that when I now tilt it the other way, the thumb doesn't move for a while -- since, depending on how long I was holding tilted in that intial direction, xSpeed has been going up and up.So this works, but with the abovementioned flaw:

Using a bunch of the tutorials on this great site, I've been teaching myself AS, and inparticular the XML parse, etc. with the loop commands to load an ideterminate number of images, etc. attributed in an XML file.I've got the attached code to work before - and it works well here too, loading all the thumbnails in their correct location, and as per the XML file. BUT now it's part of this page, the 'current_thumb' seems stuck on the last thumbnail, and a rollOver of any thumbnail will cause only the last one to action. In addition, when I put the trace command in on the onRollOut function (trace(current_thumb_mc) I get "_level0.menu_mc.item3_mc" no matter which of the four tumbnails I rollOver.

However, I only have 5 values.The problem I'm having is that the dragging of a thumb does not look too good and the values of the thumbs are displayed in labels, beside the slider...I was then thinking about how to improve the look of the dragging and the slider.I came up with this: having an image that would behave like a slider. I am trying to create a simple Music player has play/pause button and an HSlider that shows the position of the song as it is playing using a custom SliderThumbClass. I would like allow the user to drag/drop the sliderthumb or click on the sliderbar to change the position of the song currently playing.
With the code I have below, if I use the sliderThumb to change the position of the currently playing song, it works great. But I if I click directly on the slidertrack to jump ahead/back, the current position doesnt move and there is some flashing of the current position, but it jumps back to where it was and continues playing the song. This does work if I am in the paused state.
As expected, thumbDrag/Press/Release events are not triggered when the user clicks on the sliderTrack - What events should I be subscribing for to handle this case?

how to skin the datatip of a hslider component.
I have created a 3 skins with degrafa. One for the track, one for thumb and one for the datatip. I had no problem attaching the skins for the track and thumb of the hslider component. But how can i skin the datatip?
I have a simple application that consists of a HSlider and a list that contains a item renderer with a border container managed by a tile layout. For some reason when moving the slider to reduce the size of the item renderer it only reduce to a certain size and wont reduce any further. I use the same principle in flex 3 (with mx components it works fine).

- At client side: Display a list of images, when user click on one image, data will be stored in MySQL database.
- At server side: Manage images used in client side, I can delete, add new images.
Is this possible for me to achieve this using Flex? And if it is able, will my output be 2 separate SWF files? And where can I find the materials to read on writing such applications?

I am writing a web application that will serve as a configuration for a random data generator that I have written in Java.The values that I set in this application will write to xml. The xml data is updated by a file called simulationParams.as and that file is added to each child in the "viewStack" so that when I change any of those values the simulationConfig file will be automatically updated.The problem is that when I press the randomizeBtn the proper events are fired and the listeners grab those events.My problem exists when I uncheck the randomize button.For some reason an event is triggered or the listener isnt listening so that when I uncheck randomizeBtn the values go back to their last position or value on the slider. Ex. if my initial value is 0 then press randomize the slider will go to 100. The config file updates and all is well.When I uncheck the randomizeBtn, the sliders value goes back 0 but the config file isnt update.The same thing happens when I press the useDefaultBtn for both selected/unselected, nothing gets updated.[code]

View 1 RepliesThe issue I am having is creating an application with nearly every component skinned using CSS. The majority of the components are skinned using:Embed(source="file.png");method. The problem I am running into, is flex trying to compile all of the embedded assets into the final swf. As it stands now, my compiled swf stands around 16mb!@@ OUCH. It is a very large application, but not that big. Any ideas on how to load the assets into the application at run time, or on request maybe?

View 1 Replieswe try to develop a flash game engine with several abstraction layers. This flex project contains: an Application (1)-> loading a class (2)-> loading another class (3) which instanciates a Flex component (4).
The loadings uses SWFLoader. The last Flex component (4) is just a Group with AdvancedDataGrid. We do not define skins so I suppose it must take default skin.The problem is that during execution, an error is throwed because default skin for components cannot be found in the Flex component (4). In our case, for the AdvancedDataGrid:
Error #1007: Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor.In mx.controls::AdvancedDataGridBaseEx. The guilty command is: getStyle("headerSeparatorSkin"); which returns null
For the moment, we found two solutions :
the first solution is to add the attribute headerSeparatorSkin="spark.skins.SparkSkin" into the AdvancedDataGrid of the Flex component .
I wanna set a custom skin on my progressBar, but it's not working out the way I want it to. My skin has 3 different colors on it (green, yellow, red) and green should show until it's about 50%, then I want the yellow to appear after green and the red at 90% after green and yellow. So at 100% they should all show.The problem is that the ProgressBar only sets the width of my skin so all colors are showing at all times. But if I use the indeterminateSkin but dont set indeterminate to true that doesn't happend.How can I make a skin that doesn't just change width? Atm I'm just using a MovieClip for a skin.
