Flex :: Make PopUpManager Correctly Show Custom Component Based On Spark TitleWindow?

I use this code to create and show a MessageWindow:
var newTitleWindow:MessageWindow = PopUpManager.createPopUp(contextView,MessageWindow, true) as MessageWindow;
newTitleWindow.text = message;
PopUpManager.centerPopUp(newTitleWindow);

There is no nested components displayed when I run my app.
The debugger shows they are created and visible.
To my "amusement" the components are shown when I replace s:TitleWindow with mx:TitleWindow.
I really want to use spark TitleWindow.

I'm using PopupManager to display (not modal) popups in Flex.How can I make the background of my TitleWindow popup completely transparent?Now it is semi-transparent.. see picture with semi-transparent background (i.e. I just want the label inside visible):

Maybe, instead of making it transparent I could try to reduce the padding, in order to make only the children visible ?

I want to be able to show a Spark TitleWindow container as a modal without having to construct it by code via AS3. I tried creating the TitleWindow before-hand manually by dragging and resizing it around and adding objects, etc then hiding it. Then on a button, I set the called function to the ones below:

testWindow.visible = true;
PopUpManager.addPopUp(testWindow, this, true);
}
Unfortunately, this only shows testWindow but not as a modal. I want it to be like this so that I can freely resize and design the layout of my TitleWindow and only have to call some function to show it as a modal one.

I'm trying to organise my code better and figured it would be good to place the pop-up logic within the component that's being popped-up. However, I can't seem to do this without causing one error or another. I also need to make the pop-up modal.I'm doing something along these lines (psuedo code):

I'm trying to open/close a TitleWindow using PopUpManager.addPopUp() and PopUpManager.removePopUp() while reusing the same TitleWindow instance. I noticed that the creationComplete() is only called once for TitleWindow even if I open it several times and was wondering what events I should listen to for the succeeding popup loads.

I have a situation where I have a List showing a queue of Upload Objects:

I would like to create three different views of the List: One showing All uploads in the queue Another showing only the Upload items with Upload.type == "Update" and another showing only the items with Upload.type == "Create". Another example of this would be on an email inbox, where we could filter "All, unread, or read". I realise I could just create three different lists, one for each view of the list (maybe I'm just being picky) but I was wondering: Is there is any easy way to conditionally select the items to display from a DataProvider based on a parameter (for example type =="Upload") so I don't have to juggle three separate ArrayCollections about?

have been working on an air app for quite some time and in one of my mx:lists i have a custom renderer written in pure AS (no mxml). it extends the listitemrenderer mx componenet. in it i have overrode the createChildren() function to add some children of my own.
now, fort right-to-left text i want in this itemrenderer, i would like to add a spark:TextArea component in this createChildren() function
is there a way to do so?

I've made a custom list itemRenderer with 2 buttons and a label. One button deletes the list entry (and thats not the problem) the second button would change the actual view.how I can change actual view within the itemrenderer ?

I have a problem with redrawing in flex 4. I have a spark titleWindow, and if i drag it faster, it looks like it's mask is one frame late after the component. it's easily visible with 1pixel thin border, because it becomes invisible even with slower movement.

If you move in direction up, you see disappearing top border. in another directions it's not that sensitive as it has wide shadow, and it's not very visible on shadow. On my computer i see it on every spark TitleWindow i have found on google, although it's much less visible with less contrast skins, without borders or with shadows.

I have made a custom ActionScript mxml component, which is a spark TitleWindow with a text area, which header (titlebar) should display a green background if it finds the word 'success' in its text, or red, if it doesn't.
My problem is that I don't know where to access and modify this property, and the only turnaround I've found is binding the 'chromeColor' of the TitleWindow to depend on a boolean that will change depending on whether I find or not the word 'success'. And this does change the TitleBar background to the color I desire, however, it also changes the scrollbar color, for example, which is a bit nasty. The code for my class is the following:

While I was trying to change the fontSize of titlebar of TitleWindows, the whole container changes to new font Size. But I do not want to achive this. I would like to get it only on the titlebar.The code I have used (not successful)

I'm trying to use a custom Text component to show a series of comments. I got the original idea from:

I've got the base case working but I am stuck with 2 problems I cant seem to figure out:
Since I am drawing around the text, the actual height of each bubble is greater than that of the Text field, as a result, the last bubble is always chopped off. I have tried explicitly overriding the height getter, and adding some padding, but I cant seem to get it right. You can see an example here: [URL] In my layout, I have 2 VBoxes (one nested inside the other). The first vbox shows a form where the user can enter a comment, and the second box has all the comments. In order to ensure that the scrollbars only show up on the second box, I set minHeight="0" on the nested VBox, but then for some reason, some comments' text is shifted to the right. I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

I'm trying to add a DataGrid inside a spark TitleWindow and for some reason its not showing up correctly.When I put the same code in the main mxml, it comes up correctly. The exact same code shows up weird in the TitleWindow.

How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.

I'm trying to write a custom fadeTo(component, x, y):void method, which takes an arbitrary Flex Component as an argument and moves it to a given location, but smoothly.
The problem I'm running into is the following.
I want to send the component itself as argument, like this: (using Button as an example only)
fadeTo(myButton, 200, 500);
(this should move myButton smoothly from its current position to the position indicated as parameter)
However, I don't really know what type an arbitrary Flex Component is. How should I handle that?

This is NOT duplicate of my earlier post (its is slightly different)But this is similar issue with similar error but its not the same error The error I am getting now is below while dispatching the custom event from my custom component
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert events::MapEvent@a74ab51 to flash.events.MouseEvent.
dispatchEvent(new MapEvent(MapEvent.CLICKED_ON_MAP));
Note: The error in my earlier post is giving below error message
Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.events::Event@81ecb79 to com.events.ShopEvent
The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.
