I've an AIR app which prints a couple of DataGrids with approximately 3 pages worth of data each. I get great-looking printouts, but the printing is slow - I noticed that printing these 6 pages + a title page and a page of lightweight images was sent to the printer in a file of almost 50 MB (on Windows). Is this a normal size for a printed DataGrid? Is there anything I can do to make it smaller and faster?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to print an MC that is on screen with a dynamic text field in the MC - its printing just fine but the placement of one of the elements is off. Basically I have a dynamic text field centered on the stage, however when I print it, the text field moves to the very right on the printed page, while the rest of the contents of the MC stay centered. To clarify on the printed page I basically have this nice page with centered text, but the dynamic textfield is moved all the way to the right of the page.
View 1 RepliesI'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.

Due to circumstances we cannot directly display those PDFs in the AIR application (for example using flash.html.HTMLLoader). Therefore we convert the PDFs to SWFs (using the pdf2swf tool, see The SWFs are loaded into the application using a mx.controls.SWFLoader, like so:

I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)

The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
I am retrieving the details from the database and printing them in the XML format. It's working pretty good and can even display the same XML format in the Flex. However, I am not sure, how to save this XML file to give it as a data provider for datagrid.

I imported 26 .mp3 files into my library, and linked their classes via AS3 to 26 instances of buttons.
My file size went from about 2MB before I imported them to about 1.6 GB after I imported them. Each of the files is only about 2-3 MB.
I am working on a grid example in flex using advanced grid control. I know we can easily group data by specifying the field name. At the group node level, other than the gorup name I want to be able to show data in the rest of the cells ( calculated data ) and I am looking for some dataRowBound event or similar to be able to hook some data in it.
Example: Grid displaying list of towns grouped by state. At the group level ( for each state) I want to show the total number of towns in each state. Here how can i show the total number in the town column.

Here using function of focusOut, I am calling the web service by sending the data which comes from the datagrid through focusOut function. I am building an application in Flex Builder 3. Yes, I know that it has an auto-magic feature to build datasheet, but that will not work. I see many Flex controls, such as combo box, can take an array as a data source.
My question, therefore, is (1) How do I send the request from my action script to my PHP form to request a record set. (2) Presuming that my dataset is in a PHP assoc array, how do I format it to send it back to Action Script. (3) How do I take the data received from the recordset, and put it inot an actionscript array, suitable for use as a data source.

I'm having an issue sending a huge (~4MB) block of data from flash, to my java servlet, currently I'm transferring the data using URLVariables, however it seems there's a limit to this (because it seems to work, with smaller data blocks), how do I suppress this limit, or in any other way, get my data to my servlet.My flash code so far:
