They don't show up but they still take space. I've tried setting widths/heights to 0 and that doesn't help either.

I have seen numerous threads talking about Adobe Media Encoder producing black bars when converting videos. Some are saying it's a bug w/ CS4, others are saying its something to do w/ non-square pixels.My dilema is, I have some .mov files created in Final Cut Pro with a 4:3 aspect in NTSC. I need to convert them to .flv so I can stream them on a website. My current settings are:
FLV - Web Large, PAL Source (I'm using PAL because it seemed to create a better quality video when I was streaming)
Export Video
Export Audio
On2 Codec[code]....
When I export the files and try to play them in a web flash player (480x400) I get black bars on the top and bottom. I don't really have a lot of experience doing video editing so I'm shooting in the dark here.I have adjusted a lot of the pre-mentioned settings but still no luck.
1. Remove the menu buttons I don't need... How can I do this?
2. If you view it in your browser, you'll notice after trying to scroll through some of the content that the scrollbars in the flash are a little messed up.. it's not easy to notice but bothers me..
3. How can I take the Website By Joey Khan (at the bottom) and make it either highlight or glow or popout or something so that it's obvious that you can interact with it when you rollover it?
4. On the contact page, the red confirmation/error text that appears under the form when you make an error or send the message, it does not com through correctly, I'm not sure what's wrong their.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I'm trying to make chart which is combination of bar and line chart using Flex Charting API . Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. Here line chart would be staked on top of bar chart . The line chart and never over laid or drawn on top of bar chart.

As the scroll pane fills up, it gets wider to accomodate the thumbnailsThere is one row, and eventually, I want to have the user be able to mouse left or right and have the scroll pane scroll, versus clicking on the bar or the left/right arrows. However, in order to accomplish this, I need the scroll bars to disappear!

I'd like it to order the bars according to the order of the ArrayCollection I fed it. i.e. data at index 0 should be the first bar on top.However, Flex is giving me the exact reverse order. i.e. data at index 0 is not the last bar in bottom. How could I tell the BarChart to reverse the order other than reversing the order of my ArrayCollection?Here's the block of code in my script tag:

I'm currently learning Flex, and am having the hardest time getting scroll bars to work. In short, I'm making a giant form for users to fill out, contained within a viewstack component. The user will type up information in one view, and it will be displayed in the other. But right now in the first canvas I have components that run off the screen and flex doesn't automatically add a scroll bar, so I added 'verticalScrollPolicy="on"' to my canvas. Now, while it gives me a scroll bar, it gives me an empty scroll bar. I still cannot move it up or down, meaning components are still trapped off the bottom of my screen. I have a TileList in flex, and need to be able to detect if the scroll bars are shown or not, so I can change the size of the items it is laying out.
ScrollPolicy is set to auto, but I need a variable like CurrentScrollPolicy which will change from off to on depending on the content.
I'd like to create cool lines and bars charts dynamically, from xml data. Since I'm not an expert in Flash, I wanted to get a tool to accomplish this. So far, I've tried Flex Builder 3, but I can't figure how to draw the chart dynamically, as the xml data is constantly changing. I just see examples on the internet with xml like "Orange, Banana, Apple", when what I'd like to see is something like "......" and get each item's value and attributes to show in the chart.

View 1 RepliesMy group is working on a Flex/AS3 scientific web application that is data intensive. Luckily the only plots involved are line charts. However, each line chart may have multiple traces (up to 24), and each trace may contain up to 2000 points. The user will need to zoom in and out and interact with the data (e.g. data tips, etc.).
The response I'm getting from developers is that's a lot of data to render in a plot in Flash. For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we can't sample the data to reduce the size (this has already been done and nature of the data prevents further sampling).
Rendering speed is critical for this app. What kind of rendering speed should I expect the Flex 4 line chart component to provide for a given number of points (e.g. 1 second to render 1000 points?)
Are there products available that handle plotting large data sets better, which can be incorporated in Flex (I've seen FusionCharts and ZingCharts online but have no idea how they compare with Flex's components)? Of those, which are easy to develop with while still providing a lot of flexibility in look and feel?
Flex charts, like AreaChart, have wonderful built-in support for displaying data "tool tips" when a user hovers over a point supplied in the data of a graph. You can hover over any of the bar graph examples on this page for a demonstration. I have a graph situation where I optionally draw in some dots as reference points on CartesianDataCanvases supplied to my AreaChart through it's <mx:annotationElements> and <mx:backgroundElements> tags.
I would like to have the same hover data-tip functionality that the AreaChart has, but applied to these dots. I realize that I am just drawing on canvas, and that no actual dataProvider supports these dots, but if there was a way to supply the CartesianDataCanvas with an array of data values or something to that effect,

I am in a situation where user gets the cars data from the database based on the selection and displays it in datagrid like below ( for example)

and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?

View 2 RepliesI want a bubble chart that just shows items along a straight line. So I'd like the horizontal axis to essentially not exist. I have it working right now with the yField assigned to a field that happens to always be '1' on my test dataset.. but this is not going to be the case in general, so I need some way to restrict the y-axis... preferably without needing to go back to my model and parse through all my data to add a dummy value '1' on each entry.
Unfortunately setting min/max values just cuts off anything above or below rather than restricting entries.
I set computedMin and Maximum (no idea what they are and the docs don't really explain) but it didn't seem to restrict the data in any way.
