May 9, 2011How can I color the ColumnSeries differently based on data. I need something like a labelFunction only for the column fill.

Oct 9, 2009I'd like to create cool lines and bars charts dynamically, from xml data. Since I'm not an expert in Flash, I wanted to get a tool to accomplish this. So far, I've tried Flex Builder 3, but I can't figure how to draw the chart dynamically, as the xml data is constantly changing. I just see examples on the internet with xml like "Orange, Banana, Apple", when what I'd like to see is something like "......" and get each item's value and attributes to show in the chart.

May 19, 2009I'm fairly new to AS3 and I'm trying to make a pretty complicated (for me) set of behaviors. You can see what I'm trying to do here: [URL]. The Main class sets up the crosshair, the navigation, the color bars that randomly roam the stage, and the 3 words that float around. The idea is that when you hover over a word, the color bars split apart like a curtain and two random pictures appear. Then, when you roll off the word, the pictures disappear and the color bars start roaming again.
I've got the color bars, the floating words, and the curtain split working great. My problem is bringing in the pictures. For whatever reason, 60 to 70% of the time the tween stops before it is complete. I think it has something to do with the fact that I've got a hover on a piece of text, and the mouse sometimes slips into the empty spaces between the letters, but even when I put a semi-transparent rectangle over the whole word to act as a hit area I got the same results. Data Integration :: Flash Movie Acts Differently On Different Browsers?
Jan 24, 2007i have created an online calendar, you can see it on this link this application uses php as well which is called through the actionscript it works fine on firefox browsers, and some versions of IE, the version i have is explorer 7 (which i really dont like), and it doesnt work well at all. dont know if it works on safari or other browsers, i havent checked it out yet (the main problem is trying to write more than one message, it isnt displayed on the messageboard on IE).

Is there a way to have the chart center the data tips over the column instead of the normal top-right alignment the chart does?

Flex :: Fixed Y-axis Width In Columnchart
Sep 22, 2010I'm using a flex columnchart to display data, that changes at runtime. It works perfectly, except the fact, that the y-axis with is automatically resized when the values goes under 1.For example first the values of the charts are between 0 and 10. The y-axis now has labels like 0,1,2,3,4...10. If the values are going under 1 the labels are updated to 0.0, 0.1, 0.2...1.0. And because of the width of the labels, the group with the charts is resized.It looks like the chart is "jumping".So, I need a way, to set a fixed width of the y-axis of the chart.

Oct 22, 2010I need to create a custom y-axis in a columnChart that resembles a tall / skinny VBox (sorry can't post pictures) and has the axis labels (20, 40, 60, 80, 100) inside the axis.By default, the y-axis is a line and I have found methods of making the line thicker but I need the labels inside the axis.I have tried using the AxisRenderer class but can not find any good examples on the proper use.

Jan 10, 2011I can't seem to figure out why, but the label on my ColumnSeries always seems to get truncated regardless of how wide the column is. I've tried setting the labelSizeLimit to an arbitrarily large number, but that doesn't seem to help

Flex :: Column - Prevent Duplicate Stacking In ColumnChart Control?
Feb 9, 2011Here is my Problem: I'm currently using a ColumnChart to display 6 label/value pairs. When two labels are the same, the chart stacks them up, one on top of the other. I want to display these duplicates side by side, their value might be the same or it might be distinct. My first thought was to append a unique id to the label, but that's not possible according to the client. So, is there a way to tell the chart to also take a hidden id into consideration? Someone suggested to do some sort of grouping, but I need to display each chart separate, as if they were distinct charts.
the chart's data provider is an array of these objects:

Flex :: Overlaid ColumnSet Vertical Axis Not Updating In ColumnChart
Oct 18, 2011I have a neat chart that is rendering overlaid columns with values in excess of 6000 but my vertical axis stays at 0-100, as if my dataProvider was being ignored.
The problem here is with "msAxis" autoAdjust didn't change anything. Do I need to force its values manually?

What I would like to accomplish is: I have a list of messages in a Datagrid coming from a dataprovider in another class, which in turn gets them from our Oracle DB. I need to all the user to set a visible state on the message, and then filter that out of the datagrid with the click of a button. I have the check box for hide, and it sets that value into the database. I can't figure out how to get the filterFunction to work with an array collection when the filter parameter is within the row data.Here is the code

Nov 4, 2011I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking.How would the python backend integrate with the UI.

I would like to create three different views of the List: One showing All uploads in the queue Another showing only the Upload items with Upload.type == "Update" and another showing only the items with Upload.type == "Create". Another example of this would be on an email inbox, where we could filter "All, unread, or read". I realise I could just create three different lists, one for each view of the list (maybe I'm just being picky) but I was wondering: Is there is any easy way to conditionally select the items to display from a DataProvider based on a parameter (for example type =="Upload") so I don't have to juggle three separate ArrayCollections about?

The column consists of numbers but some need to be formatted as Numbers while others as currency etc. Also note that I have an additional column which consists of 0 and 1 where 0 means that it should be formatted as Number and 1 means that it should be formatted as Currency.

Jul 8, 2010I am trying to build a sort of button bar in Flex - something like the horizontally laid-out bookmark bar you'd see in most modern web browsers, where when you run out of horizontal space, you can click on the arrows button(>>) to get a drop-down to see the rest of the items which did not fit into the horizontal space. Problem is, how can I know how much horizontal space is available for me to tell how many buttons to render into the button bar? This need doesn't appear to be support by the general layout manager framework.
