Mar 10, 2010Fullscreen mode and I have been battling for a while in this Flex application, and I'm coming up short on Google results to end my woes. I have no problem going into fullscreen mode by doing a Application.application.stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;, but the rest of the content just sits there in the top, left corner at it's original size.
All right, says I, I'll just do a stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL and make it figure out how to pull this off. And it looks like it does. Except that when you mouse over the individual checkboxes and buttons and various components, they all fidget slightly. Just a slight jump up or down as they resize...on mouse over. Well, this is frustrating, but bearable. I can always just invoke invalidateSize() explicitly for all of them.
But for the comboboxes. The ones at the bottom have their menus go off the bottom of the screen, and when I pop out of fullscreen mode, their drop downs cut off half way. I have no idea how to fix that. Can someone step in here, and put me out of my misery?

Oct 18, 2011I have a quite different problem with resizing. I have a Flexbook component which uses the middle part of screen (center) with a html header menu and footer. The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

Oct 13, 2010I want to create a fairly large-scale Flex web application that has a similar interface style to Grooveshark.
When it comes to web development, I have always used the common PHP/HTML/JavaScript technologies. Now, I want to try something new and develop a RIA using Flex.
Using PHP/HTML/JavaScript, I am able to develop my entire website with free tools. Now, I'm wondering if I am able to do the same thing with a Flex web application?
Is it possible/feasible to develop a Flex web application for free? If not, what would be the lowest cost I would need to spend? And, whatever the option, what are the tools that would be needed?
Scale Flex Application When Screen Resolution Is Too Small?
Mar 18, 2011I'm developing a Flex application that is designed for screen resolutions of 1280x1024 and more. In the rare case that a projector is used (which usually has a maximum of 1024x768 pixels) I'd like to scale down the application (currently I get lots of scrollbars and clipping).
I've already experimented with the application's properties scaleX and scaleY as well as stage.scaleMode. However, I couldn't quite figure out a way to
render the application without scaling when the application's width and height are larger than certain values use scaling when the width or height are smaller than certain values

I would like to know if it is possible to connect from one AIR app on machine A to connect to another AIR app on machine B via sockets without cirrus. I'm not asking for someone else to do my work, I couldnt find any documentation or possibility of the above thing. My conclusion now is that it is not possible, but I would just like it to be verified by other people(experts).

But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. Aug 29, 2011I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

Oct 29, 2010I've heard a couple of people say only 50% succeed, but that sounds suspiciously low and the people saying that are probably all repeating the same rumor. My own very limited tests with various friends & colleagues work 100% of the time, as long as they have Flash Player 10, but that's obviously not right either.
Do you have some data from a largish test or deployment of home/corporate users?
Flex - Application.application.nativeWindow.activate() On Windows?
Dec 8, 2009I have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.
Flex :: Launch A Separate Air Application Through My Current Air Application?
Sep 1, 2010I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. If this is the case I would expect to be able to launch it but this doesn't seem the case.
