Flash :: RTMFP Successful Connection Ratio Or Percentage, AKA Adobe Cirrus, Stratus, LCCS
Oct 29, 2010
I've heard a couple of people say only 50% succeed, but that sounds suspiciously low and the people saying that are probably all repeating the same rumor. My own very limited tests with various friends & colleagues work 100% of the time, as long as they have Flash Player 10, but that's obviously not right either.
Do you have some data from a largish test or deployment of home/corporate users?
I am developing flash p2p chat. It works fine on my friends' computers (they can chat each other), but not on mine. The problem is that I have local network at home, and I think that Flash Player tries to make p2p requests to peers inside my local network. Can I check if user have local network in AS3 and up the level of network to the WWW?
Is it true that Flash p2p cannot be done without Cirrus/LiveCycle Collaboration Service? I've seen a similar question on SO and it is claimed there that it cannot be done. So, why not? Also, I've seen comrade back2dos had some thoughts on the problem, but he was downvoted
I'm trying to come up with the best way to do some random match making in a simple game. While experimenting with netStreams using Adobe Cirrus, I can easily set up direct connections, send data, text, video, sound all using Cirrus which is great. I find it pretty easy to get a simple P2P connection going, and it works just like i need it to.But I really want to implement a random matchmaking feature using ONLY cirrus so everything is though p2p...How would I go about grabbing a random peer in the same group...that's not in a direct connection with someone else already?
-I was thinking maybe I could use object replication...and when someone connects to the GroupSpecifier, I could then push another object into this shared array that has the local peerID and their status. then i could just alter the array when theyre in a game. But then im worried there is no guarantee that their entry will get removed if the person just closes the web window.
-I also thought about just doing a "post" to the group containing the nearID, and other peers can get the post...and those that aren't in a game will try and direct connect back. Then that side will then connect to them. so then theyll both be in direct connections with each other. But then i feel like if potentially 100s of people that are "available"...get the post...then they all try and connect to one person, then it could cause problems.
-Also, I thought about just doing sendToNearest...but wouldnt that not be the best way to match people...because you can only have so many neighbors i think... if there were 1000 people in the group. youll only be able to connect to a few peers actually considered your neighbor right? Then basically you could end up just matching up with the same 5-10 people or however are technically considered a neighbor.
I am interesting in creating a P2P application using Cirrus [URL]. The examples given create a connection with servers managed by Adobe. I'd like to do this on my Node.js server, how should I implement this? Or does Adobe force developers that use Cirrus to buy Flash Media Servers?
I dont want to connect to a server over socket. I would like to know if it is possible to connect from one AIR app on machine A to connect to another AIR app on machine B via sockets without cirrus. I'm not asking for someone else to do my work, I couldnt find any documentation or possibility of the above thing. My conclusion now is that it is not possible, but I would just like it to be verified by other people(experts).
Im trying to make connection from flex to java and from java to mysql. I managed to connect to java, but having error that class not found: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver. But i downloaded mysql.jar, included it added to library, and connection works when i testing it from clipse scrapbook. Dont know what to do, i spend last couple days on this.
Basically the solution was simple. Everybody keeps saying to put jar into lib folder, so i done it, but i wasnt realised that i have to put into my servers lib directory, not app lib directory and this miserable mistake cost so much. Anyway i hope this will help for some newbie like me.In this particular situation im using red5, so i putted it into my red5 dist/lib directory and "surprisingly" its started to work.
I want to know How does Adobe Stratus work? to get an idea of how to do something like it on my own. So what net hack Stratus uses to work like it works?
Adobe Cirrus offers a number of options for transferring data from peer to peer: Directed Routing, Object Replication and Multicasting to name a few.I just want to send the data to one specific peer, its fine for other peers to 'see' it in transit.
My experiments with Directed Routing (the obvious answer) have not gone well. all the sendto... methods fail, while NetGroup.post works fine on the same netgroup. I am concerned about using direct connections because of reliability.
Has anyone successfully implemented a one to one messaging strategy (not one to many), which can still message between non-connected peers - (Directed Routing) or solved this problem successfully?
I am considering various workarounds, but I am quite perplexed that these NetGroup methods: sendToNearest, sendToNeighbour & sendToAllNeighbours just seem to fail, for no apparent reason.
I am trying to develop a P2P conferencing application in flex using RTMFP. So I have to make connection to Adobe Stratus server for Id of Flash Player instance. I am a student and behind the http proxy. I have checked in NetConnection class but, didn't find anything related proxy configuration. So, How can I configure proxy settings for my flex application.
I have a NetGroup established using Adobe Cirrus. All clients can connect fine and see each other, since I receive NetGroup.Neighbor. Connect and NetGroup.MulticastStream.PublishNotify events when a new stream is being published. However, if a user subscribes to a published stream, the publisher does not receive a notification (no NetStatusEvent and no callback to the onPeerConnect method). The subscriber receives the stream without problems, though. All other questions about the non working onPeerConnect method were related to NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS, but in my case, I am using a NetGroup.
What is wrong here? Only the relevant parts, a few things have been stripped (e.g. connect the netGroup only when the NetConnection has been established etc.)
var groupSpecifier:GroupSpecifier = new GroupSpecifier("group"); groupSpecifier.multicastEnabled = true; groupSpecifier.postingEnabled = true;[code].....
I have established Flash Media Server 4.5 on the house computer with win7 a router wasn't present, the cord goes on a straight line to the computer, at me allocated IP. I want that it was possible to address to the server from the Internet. At first video was started only on a local computer, then after change resolved Đ¸Đ¿ in "adaptor.xml" the starting page of the server has started to open with other computers and examples work, video plays. But to incorporate on "rtmfp" leaves only from that computer on which there is a server (under the test on http://cc.rtmfp.net/all green points and one more too with all green points) leaves that computers can incorporate to the server on "rtmp" as the example of the server with video translation works well, but on "rtmfp" connects only those at whom green points.
Are the RTMFP connection limits for the FMS AMI hard limits? What will happen when the limit is reached, will the server just refuse new rtmfp connections?
This is what i'm trying to do , get the Ratio 4:3 9:16 etc from an mp4 movie (h264) so when ill open it in fullscreen using a flash player / action script 3 it will still keep the ratio.
How would you be able to connect 2 users ( that are known and have a user account on my site) in a flex app together using rtmfp?I have a simple flex game app where I want 2 users to be connected to each other. There is a simple SQL database in the background for storing the users, but after this I'm unable to figure out how I would connect the 2 users.tmfp generates a unique ID that you can use to connect 2 users together?Im looking for a good tutorial info resource or an example app that demonstates connecting 2 users, or just an explanation
When and where will see (ore already can get) Adobe® Stratus 2 examples (with source) on "Swarming", Live Application-Level Multicast, Distributed Data Storage?
I'm using the RTMFP protocol to publish and play video and audio, but i'm with a little problem. I installed the FMS 4 Development Server in a Windows Server machine located in our local network and it works perfectly. In order to deploy our application, we have a remote server with a fresh install of the Ubuntu 10.04 Server, and the FMS 4 installed in this server. In other server we have the Java and Flex application, which will be used in the client browser.
The problem is that when trying to change the NetConnection url to the remote FMS server, which is the Ubuntu server, the netconnection can't connect to it. When changing to the RTMP protocol it connects, but with the RTMFP don't. I can't find any information in the log files or anything else.
we're having a strange problem on a project here. When we use NetConnection in combination with a NetGroup to initiate communication between two local AIR applications on Windows XP, they always both connect to the NetGroup succesfully and detect each other as neighbors. However, on Windows 7 both applications connect succesfully to the NetConnection and NetGroup both don't detect each other as neighbors. To reproduce this problem, here are two AIR applications:[code]
These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? It's critical to our project that this works. In some cases, the applications take quite a long time to detect each other as neighbors (up to 15 seconds in some cases), in other cases they detect each other immediately. Does anyone know what could cause this delay?
I built two flash uploaders using actionscript 3 & actionscript 2 that sends files to a java servlet. The java servlet successfully receives that file, but the flash uploader fires an IOerror #2038 instead of a complete event.
There was another question is my exact same problem, but the answer "clear the cache" was very broad, and the question owner was too lazy to give a detailed description.
I need to determine which connection type a device is using. Distinguishing between WIFI and 3G doesn't seem to be a problem on iOS (using the NetworkInfo ANE) and Android (using the native NetworkInfo class) but I've got no clue how to further distinguish between a fast (3G, 4G) and slow (EDGE) connection. Is there a way to do this with Adobe Air?
I want to create a simple video chat application using rtmfp the new p2p feature. It's available in flash media server 4 and using stratus, I've only been able to find tutorials on stratus. So my question is if I want to use the p2p feature in flash media server 4 do I have to signup for stratus and use its api or does fms 4 have its own api?
if I create a simple app with stratus tecnology and I get millions of users, then how can I scale the application ? How chatroulette have resolved the scaling issue ?
I'm having trouble subscribing to other clients. Take a look at the source code: [URL]. For some reason, the onReceiveStreamHandler() method is never called. You can test the app here: [URL]. I am using my actual dev key not "myID"
I'm trying to populate a mx:tree component with values that I'm getting from BlazeDS. The returned data from BlazeDS is fine it's an ArrayCollection of Folder value objects.I've been instructed to use Cairngorm for this project. I'm pretty new to Flex and Cairngorm. According to the limited documentation that I've read online I should populate the model with data so I've stuck the array collection there. What I'm stuck with is trying to update the tree component. I feel that I need some way to notify the container component for the tree that the data (i.e. the subfolders) is available on the model. I was hoping that it would be possible to fire a function in the container component to add the subfolders as children of the selected node (I could chuck this on the model before the remote object call I guess) then fire tree.invalidateList() and tree.validateNow(). Any ideas?
I'm now using the LCCS account in my application to create p2p audio/video connections and screen sharing. Audio/video streaming is working well. However screen sharing uses RTMP protocol which means that all the data goes through the server. Due to network speed (and big distance from user1 -> LCCS server -> user2) screen sharing isn't very enjoyable and efficient because of delays. Now I wonder how to implement my own Flash Server, that users can authenticate to, publish p2p streams, and share their screens via my private server. I Assume that I need Flash Media Server 4 Enterprise (Am I wrong? Maybe some lower version applies), but what next. I completely don't know how to bite it. How to implement connecting/ authenticating/ routing/making connections to my own server?
