So we want to seacrch for file like exampl*.ex*mple. We want to search in all users files and folders.
I know it will take long, but steel using ONLY AS3MXML, no native commands, no external programms - only AS3MXML libs and classes, we can skeep all folders with sise <= 200kb
So How to search for a file on users file system? (in Air application, NOT NATIVE)
I'm developing an application for the Blackberry Playbook using Flash Burrito 4.5 and Flex. I'd like to create a file browser to allow users to load images from the local system into the application. I followed this example [URL] When I click on the Load Image button in the simulator however, the file browser pops up but tells me that "no file was found with the specified filter", even though I don't specify any filter or even if I specify a . filter.
I am working with Flex, Flash, Action Script and I want to browse the local machine file system using Operating System's file browse window and select a file then i want to get the full path of the selected file. How can I do this?
We have a Flex app that is currently loading an XML file that contains Multiple Choice Question data. I don't want a user to be able to access this file via http, but if I use HTTPService to load the file (what we're doing currently) it seems as though I have to place the XML file within the public_html folder on our server.
Is there a better way to load the XML file so that users wouldn't be able to see it in their activity viewer/access it via http://
I am loading data from one sample.xml file using http service. the xml file will generated by jsp and it is saving in one proper location like(d:/programfiles/some.xml).now when I first time login to application i need to check whether that xml file is present or not. How can I check?
I am trying to create a search field in AS3 to search keywords in a dynamic text field of the same flash movie, where the text is loaded from an XML file.
I need to know what the details are of the file permissions of an adobe AIR app. Specifically, to where can may it write text files? Anywhere on the local system? I heard Adobe has a set of "Sandbox Permissions" but these just confuse me as I don't know where they apply. Additionally I wish to know if you need some kind of special permission to append to a file somewhere on the system.
Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?
I've found several examples and documentation that show how to read and write files on the system, but all show user intervention or reading/writing files in user profile directories. There are a few things I want to do:
Monitor system and other application log files for changes, then automatically load those files when changes occur Reload a previously open file when the application launches Write files into a log directory, which probably will not exist in the same path as the application.
In my very quick search, it seems that there may be a security model that constrains an AIR application's access to the file system, so that files can only be read or written to directories selected by the user with the file system dialog OR files can be written within the user profile or air application directory.
Does an Adobe Air application have unconstrained access to the file system?
Yes, you can access Local File System in Flex and that too with a standard SWF without resorting to Adobe Air.Check out the link below for full details and the SWF.

I need to disable all the aspects of functionality which access the client file system in a flash/flex application. I started having a look on how to do this. It appears that the package flash.filesystem need to be importated to allow the interaction with the file system. However, I did not find any reference to this package in the application. I am a beginner concerning these technologies so maybe I am missing a point here. Do I need to look into an other direction?
I'm trying to access local file system from Flex web application. I know it is pretty difficult, but I think there must be a way. Is there a way that Flex app can use AIR components or maybe web application can call some AIR module in order to choose files and upload?
I am looking for utility/helper classes for Adobe AIR/actionscript 3.0 file system and native process utilization. Could someone point me to opensource library projects specific to Adobe AIR..
For a research project I am looking for a way to collect the file system metadata of a certain file. The user selects a file on his system and the app retrieves the metadata of the file, only the metadata and not the actual contents. A friend of mine made a test app using SWFupload [URL] and it works, however not all attributes from the metadata can be retrieved. I would also want to collect 'lastaccesstime' and 'owner' from the metadata. Try the test app [URL]
The following code has been used to make this test app:
function fileDialogComplete() { //this.startUpload(); var f = this.getFile(); var a = "File Info "; a += "Created: " + f.creationdate + "
My client wants to distribute a video to some people, specifically car dealers, but he doesn't want the video to end up on Youtube or something like that. Therefore he wants the recipients of the video to be able to see it only once. My idea to implement this is:Generate a unique key per viewerSend each viewer a link to a page with a Flash based video player, with their key in the URLHave Flash get the video from the server. On the server the key is checked and the file sent (using php's readfile or something equivalent). Then the key is invalidated.I was thinking this wouldn't take more than a day to build.I know that if you want somebody to be able to play something, you implicitly give them the power to record it as well, but the client just wants me to make it as hard as possible.
i have a input text field on stage called textfield and a button called btn i want to be able to search for key words from the users input i found this code but it doesnt work,
I've developed a CMS system that allows users to change the textual content and save the changes back to an XML doc.All works fine in English but the writing to the XML Keeps falling over when it reaches a foreign character.. Even when wrapped with the CDDATA tag.The application needs to support users translating the content into different languages.
I'm using zinc to write out the XML string.During runtime all changes are stored back directly to the XML object ( the same one that is loaded at the start and is used to populated the CMS) then I use XML.toString() to create a string variable to pass to zinc to save out the file..
Is there an easier way to search for ActionScript in an FLA? I've inherited a Flash Project from a former co-worker, and have been searching for this particular source in my FLA file, but have not been able to find it:
[Code]...
I'm well aware that it's there _someplace_ and have tried going through every symbol listed in the project, to no avail. When running the movie in the debugger, I see it lsited under "Actions" for the button symbol "mpbutton". However, when "editing" that button, I see no such actionscript associated.
I have a client whom I made an xml driven slide show for. Everything is working fine, but now they want a search box with button where the user can search through the "description" nodes of the xml file and then display that image.
I know I will use a loop to itterate through the nodes, but how do I actaully test to see if there is a node with more or less the same text that the user entered? Btw, the application is standalone, not on the net.
I installed said program but whenever I add users, it says they were added successfully and exist in CMD.However when I check the users.dat file it is empty. When I try Live Encoder it says the user does not exist.
I am developing a ASP.NET web site where users will need to be able to create their own business cards. So, I'm looking for a tool (most likely Flash) that I can easily integrate into a web site and lets users add text and custom images to their cards and then create an image and/or PDF from their work.
I'm currently searching for ways to count the number of pre-defined keywords in an XML file. An example would be trying to find how many times "war" is mentioned in a news networks RSS feed <title></title> and adding it to a variable.
I've found a few custom AS3 XML class files out there but nothing I've been able to adapt.I'm at the point of considering just taking the title of these news stories converting them all to strings and searching them that way.

I am trying to make an application that tells me what points are within, say, 5 miles of me. I have my latitude and longitude coordinates that are constantly updating depending on my location... and I want to be able to search a XML file and ask whether or not certain locations are within the 5 miles.
If they are it displays those points in a list... if not, they are excluded.I don't need to be deathly accurate... Under a quarter of a mile or so would suffice.example of lat:long numbers would be something like
