ActionScript 3.0 :: Compiling Old Flex 2 Application With FlashDevelop
Aug 5, 2010I am having trouble compiling a project built in TextMate on a Mac. I have Flash Builder 4 and FlashDevelop on PC, and I cannot seem to compile the project even when I've downloaded the Flex 2 Hotfix 3 SDK. Flash Builder cannot work with Flex versions prior to Flex 3, so I'm left with Flashdevelop. When I assign the SDK path to point to the Flex 2 SDK, I get the following message when I try to compile:
command line: Error: unknown configuration variable 'static-link-runtime-shared-libraries' Use 'mxmlc -help' for information about using the command line. Build halted with errors (mxmlc). Is there something I'm missing, and is there an alternative way for me to compile this old project?

Flex :: Develop A Video Chat Web Application In Java?
Apr 19, 2011Currently we are in the design phase of an application that will allow two users to communicate with each other using chat and video (with audio), the application is a web application that currently is a java web app with Spring and hibernate, but we want to incorporate video and chat between two users and we are evaluating the options to developing it, so far we have two choices, either develop a Flex UI that leverages its video and chatting capabilities through Red5 or something like that and communicates with the Spring app using BlazeDS or a completely java based approach using (maybe) JMF and/or applets to achieve the video and chat interaction. The question is, which would be the most scalable approach to develop such an application?, what would be the approach that is the least intrusive from the end user perspective?

Jan 8, 2012We want to develop a broadcasting application, there would be a main broadcaster on video, with a lot of chatters. There would also be some chatters going on webcam (6 max). I'm still checking out NetGroups, IP Multicast, RTMFP Multicast, Fusion etc. but I am still lost. I also want to make sure that people who can't support RTMFP can be a part of the program by using RTMP, if that's possible right now to combine RTMP/RTMFP in such a big broadcasting application.

Nov 27, 2010I want to create a Flash application but I do not want to pay the $700 for Flash Professional CS5 (neither to pirate it). I have been looking at previous questions here in SO and around the net for hints of free software allowing to develop flash apps.
From my current research, it seems the tools I need are:
1. FlashDevelop or similar to create and compile ActionScript code.
2. Pencil, Synfig or similar to create animation (is it possible to export to fla?
3. ?? to put everything together and compile a swf file.
My question is whether anyone has successfully followed a similar path to build a flash application using only open source. And better yet, any good web site with documentation on how to tackle such a task. I have looked at the Open Source Flash Projects page which contains a comprehensive list of flash related open-source projects and libraries...

May 3, 2011I would like to develop applications for iPhone and Android devices. Which language it is better to use Java or Flash? I have read that Adobe Flash CSS 5.5 support compatibility for ActionScript on both devices. Will be interesting to know plus and minus sides for both languages? Remember that we have to develop application for both devices, and we have a small part of that application already written in Java.

Oct 19, 2011The administrative portion is where our super users can either define a location as a numbers of rows, with a number of seats in each ( ie a cinema/concert lokale). The other option they have should be a much more flexible "seating" arrangement. Here we want the superuser to be able to upload an image and then draw places (ie a camping place). The user portion is either a simple page with all the rows of seats drawn or a view of the image with the drawn places overlaid. The user should then be able to choose a number of "tickets" and select places. For the fixed map, we want the tickets to be sticky (ie if you choose 3, they should be seated besides each other if possible?

May 31, 2009I'm trying to setup an application that has certain movieclips that have to chance position depending on a selected option. The application basically has the main stage with a movieclip called "Options" and a movieclip called "Objects". The selected options in the movieclip "Options" define what positions the movieclips in the "Objects" movieclip have later on.
I figured that I had to script it so that if I click "Option 1" in the "Options" movieclip, that it defined 2 variables called "option1_x" and option1_y" and when selecting Object 1 in the movieclip "Objects", that it would set the X and Y values of "Object 1" to .x=object_x and .y=object_y
However, I'm rather new to AS3 (read: very new) and I'm struggling to figure out how to get this to work, because my attempts so far have been.. rather bad.What I have right now is this for the "Options" movieclip:

Feb 9, 2010I have been programming with as3 for the past 4 months and Ive been getting rather good at it. I just recently decided to work with flashdevelop. I notice that there is alot of code that is availible in the flex sdk that isn't available in as3 with flash cs4. Like embedding of assets and such. I've been trying to find some up to date tutorials on how to embed things like xml and so far the tutorials are inaccurate or unclear about how to go about doing so. Ive been trying to find some good books that cover that and havnt been able to.
The books either cover as3 with flash or as and flex builder. Which is more towards working with the mxml. I havnt been able to find any books on how to work with as3 and flex sdk. Which show examples like embedding of xml and so on. I was just curious does anyone know of any good books that cover EVERYTHING there is to know about as3 and the flex sdk. Not so much on flex builder and mxml.
In a sense, I just want to get better with working with as3 projects with flashdevelop. And it would be great if there was books that covered that. Cause lets just face it, We developers sometimes just get sick of searching the web for bits of pieces of things. and its just great to have that one good book that references everything.

Media Server :: Stuck In Vhost Setup Have Setup And Working Up To Connection?
Feb 22, 2011I have started the vhost setup. I have cpanel on the server and I added the domain and it resolves to
the hosting account just fine pull up www.domain.com and goes to server.
I added the www.domain.com vhost. I pointed the application dir to /home/domain/public_html/applications/
I copied live over to applications dir. I setup user and pass for the virtual host login.
