I'm working on a project for a User Interface Design class, so the emphasis is on the UI being as nice to use and non-annoying as possible. I would like to display a message to the user after they've clicked save, for example, without requiring them to click an OK button. I'm thinking of the kind of thing you see in gmail if you send a message or do some other actions, where a message appears on the screen, but the message disappears after you do something else.
I'm sure there's a way to do this in Flex (I'm using 4.6), but I just don't know what it is. I'm pretty new to Flex and I'm having trouble finding anything via Google, because the results keep showing confirmations messages in Alerts; I don't know the search terms to get the results I'm looking for.

Confirmation dialog with in flash is not an option for me. View 1 RepliesI have a modal dialog with a flash video on it and I'm using the jQuery draggable plugin to make it draggable. On Chrome, it doesn't let me play the video (when I click on the play button it does nothing, though I can drag the div around if I hold down the mouse). On Firefox, the video will play, but the mouse gets "stuck" to the div and the div follows it around. Is there some easy way to prevent dragging on the flash div?

View 3 RepliesI want to be able to show a Spark TitleWindow container as a modal without having to construct it by code via AS3. I tried creating the TitleWindow before-hand manually by dragging and resizing it around and adding objects, etc then hiding it. Then on a button, I set the called function to the ones below:

Unfortunately, this only shows testWindow but not as a modal. I want it to be like this so that I can freely resize and design the layout of my TitleWindow and only have to call some function to show it as a modal one.

Is there a way to make everything "modal" except the main scroll bars? I know that I could put a scrollbar on the Panel but I would prefer to avoid this.

My Flex 3 application has some modal dialogs displayed via the PopUpManager, but there are times when I'd like other view components to know there is popup displayed. The PopUpManager doesn't have any method for actually checking the existence of popups. Is there any other way to detect this in flash/flex without writing my own global manager?
(also systemManager.popUpChildren.numChildren == 0 even when there's a modal popup)
When using the PopUpManager in Flex with modal = true, the background application is blurred. Is it possible to keep this blur for most of the background application but set certain components to not be blurred?

I want to make a modal effect like a popup window in Flex, but with pure as3.
I put a filled Shape with a blur on it but doesn't look the same. I am assuming the blur effect is applied on the stage, but this would also blur the popup window. I also want several layers of modal+popup like "do you want to delete this?" and pressing yes => "are you sure?" Kind of thing.
I have an image gallery featuring multiple thumbnails. Now, what I want to do is that when the user clicks one of the thumbnails, the "Save as..." dialog pops-up allowing the user to save the full size image. I have both the thumbnail and full size image on my server and can include the paths in an xml file. Is there a way to do it?

At the end of cpuIntensiveCalc the dialog is removed. The dialog informs the user that "something is going on, please stand by."
The problem is that cpuIntensiveCalc starts before the dialog draws. So the user experience is that the application freezes for 10 seconds with no indicator, then the modal dialog flashes quickly (less than a second) on screen.
The Adobe docs say this about creation_complete
Dispatched when the component has finished its construction, property processing, measuring, layout, and drawing.
So this feels like the correct event. In the name of completeness, I also tried

I'm beginner in Flex 4. I'm trying to pop up a Flex WindowTitle custom component, and after the user choose some values, the parent window must be refreshed.I'm showing the modal window, the user can't interact with other components, but the problem I detect is the execution of the program flows, even I choosing to show the Input window as modal, the next methods to refresh the page is called before the user close the modal page. I don't know if flex or ActionScript works different from Java, where I used to code. see the comments on the code example:

I'm using MATE on an Adobe Flex project for MVC. On one of our pages, we have a dialog window that is presented to the user that displays them information that comes from RPC. The pages where this dialog pops up is unrelated to the data being displayed so this is a separate model. How do I create a MATE mapping file that will create the dialog window, make it visible to the user, and then inject in data from a model?

I would have suspected some type of message or callback mechanism, but there does not seem to be. In one case I use the WindowTitle component and event that only fires the CLOSE if someone presses the close and give no message when the dialog actually closes.

View 1 RepliesI am using Flex 4 and running into some problems displaying a simple alert box. The alert box shows up, but the text seems to be the same color as the background. I know the text is there because if I mouse over in the alert box window to roughly where the text would be, I can see the cursor change. And when I double click and copy-paste into notepad, I can see the message. But the message, the button text, the message box title don't show up.The relevant code in my project is as follows

I am using browseForSave() to give the user a chance to save a file before navigating back to a previous screen. As of now the cancel button on the save dialog just closes the save dialog. I want to see if the cancel button was clicked, and if so continue navigating back to the previous screen without saving. Right now the person has to save the file in order to move back.
