I've just imported a Flex component into my project.I have a theory question about importing.all the imports statements in the component source files started with "com.subFolder.etc", but I have preferred to move the component folders into "componentName" and to replace all import statements as "componentName.com.subFolder.etc"

In the AIR application, I need to have import statements such as the following: import flash.data.SQLConnection; import flash.filesystem.File; but I cannot have these import statements in the web application because they are AIR only classes.

and similar approach to include web or AIR specific functions during compilation. The approach seems to have worked so far The only place I have run across issues is in my Cairngorm's model locator. If I put CONFIG::desktopMode around import statements in Cairngorm's model locator, it starts giving "Uncaught exception in compiler" or "1131 classes must not be nested" error. I'm not sure how to address this error!
How do I import a class that resides outside the root folder of a fla file?
From root I should go back two folders to get the classes I want, which by the way is TweenMax. I don't want to copy these classes to every website's folder.
I'm resizing a chart and want to take a picture of it when all the children of that chart are done updating.
For example I'm drawing some stuff on the chart after the size changes. I've tried chaining a bunch of callLater() but I'm still running into problems on slow computers.
Raising an event when the last children has executed doesn't seem to work as it might take a while to draw (hence the callLaters).
Is there a best practice to find out when something is done updating?
i am trying to create a flash movie for my browser page. i am able to import and export the movie just fine, the problem comes after i export the movie. As long as i leave the flash file in the folder it was created in things work great. If i try to move the folder or rename the folder it stops working. It acts like it cant find the flv file i created the flash with. if i rename or move the folder back where it was created things work fine.
View 2 RepliesI've created a component which is basically a meter (extends skinnable container). The skin to the component contains two rectangles (background and the actual meter). This component receives an arraycollection with the following fields value, max and min(the arraycollection I am passing is Bindable). When I initialize and pass the data to be used to draw It works great (keep in mind - only works the first time). I've created a button that changes the data array and shows the current meter value. Apparently the meter's value is changing everytime I modify the ArrayCollection I've set to be used for rendering.(dont want to say "dataProvider" because it is not a Flex dataprovider, just a variable )... here is the code...

Everytime I start my Flex application (as opposed to Air), Firefox is "waiting for.I am pretty sure that namespaces URL are not loaded, so why is Flex reaching out to adobe? Flash update?I am using Flash Builder 4.5ports into the Class?

Should it be reported to Adobe as a bug?I found this out (after a while of frustration) that whenever I have a class in the root folder of the global classpath (or even in the same folder as the FLA, just not arranged into a package), even if I use an "import" statement for a "packaged" class with the same name, the compiler will still fetch and use the "global" class definition.[code]

I have a CustomTextInput component based on TextInput (Spark) component. The instance of this class is placed on a popup window (TitleWindow). How can I capture the popup move (dragging the title) event inside CustomTextInput implementation?
MoveEvent.MOVE event of the CustomTextInput itself doesn't work. Of course, I can't access the parent popup window inside the component implementation, because it's a common component that can be used not only on the popup windows.
I have created a custom component based on spark.components.HGroup and it works mostly as needed, but I have this minor problem: I can not move it.
Maybe someone will look at my simplified test case below and spot my error?

I have the source folder from a friend's Android app and I am going to do all of the design for the app. If I could import the folder that he gave me from Eclipse, it would be easier to create a nice UI for the app.
Is this possible? If not, can I load the XML files into Flash Builder to make the UI? EDIT: To clarify, I have a project file that I can open in Eclipse. I want to edit the appearance of the project using Flash Builder without interfering with the application's functionality.
i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
"E:DataProcessors.swf"
not found but i have those lib files on
"E:in-debugDataProcessors.swf"..
what could be the possible errors.

View 2 RepliesI've been wondering something, websites like youtube (pandora does mp4s) play their music through a flash player. while each track is played, they're downloaded to the user's computer, e.g., /tmp/FlashXX*** This allows users to go and move the flv out of that folder for later playback.
However, when the user moves the flv out of the /tmp folder, the player continues to play the music/video quite happily. How does the flash player handle the removal of its file and why doesn't it throw errors from this?
More importantly, why are the flvs downloaded to the user in the first place if the player plays happily without them?
when I first created my website I defined it in a random folder of my own choosing. Now, many months of construction later I want add some php related stuff and have to setup a proper local testing server.
I therefore have to move the whole thing to an htpdocs subfolder in MAMP - how can I do this so all links and filepaths etc are updated?

I have my server configured so that the installation is on c:, and the media files are on d:.To begin with I tested the streaming files in the original installation location and this worked.I've have now moved the vod folder - D:applications:, and updated the FMS.ini file to accordingly look for the applications folder on the D: and restarted the server.The Administration console is correctly identifying the VOD and LIVE applications in the new location, but all the streams have stopped working

I'm building a Flex App for a Media Development course and one of our requirements for this sprint is to implement a simple P2P chat into the interface. I created one from a tutorial that served my needs and altered it appropriately, but it exists as a separate Flex Project and not within the Main App.
I know I can export the Chat as an fxp project file, but I'm not sure how I can use it in my main app. I was trying to create a Custom Component, but the process isn't very clear and Adobe's help files on the subject didn't seem to relate to what I specifically wanted to do. I get the feeling that there's a very simple fix for my goal, but hopefully someone would able to point me in the right direction as I've been working on this app for a good 6 hours and need a break.
I am using Flex 3 as my code editorand I am trying to manipulate some form components from a class. But when I try to write:ActionScript Code:import fl.controls.TextInput;Flex does not give me any code hinting for the "fl" folder. If I just type it my self it all works just fine. so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
I`m using flash cs3 for my works , but i have one problem!when i use File=> Import=> Import to Library... or Import to Stage...the flash environment becomes terminated.I changed my flash version to CS4 and I have this problem again.
