Creating a simple video for embedding by importing a video into flash creates a separate swf for the controls. Is there a way to have the controls embedded in the main SWF, so you don't have to worry about paths to the control swf?

I'm trying to control the video playback of a live video stream using ActionScript 3 code in Flash Professional.
There's a FLVPlayback component on my stage titled "flvPlayer", and in Frame one of my "Actions" layer, I have the following code:

I can get it to work by adding the source to the Compenent Parameters window, but I need to be able to access those parameters in code.
I have embedded a flv video into my timeline, it uses the flv playback component to play and the SteelExternalAll.swf skin. I would like to control this flv using buttons that I have created that are postioned next to the video player. Ideally, these buttons would be thumbnails, similar to chapter thumbnails on DVDs and would serve a very similar function. As these thumbnail buttons are always present, I want them to change while the movie plays, I think a border around the currently playing would suffice.
The video is nearly 3 mins long, I have made cue points from Sorenson Squeeze.
hope i'm explaining this the right way. i'm using the flash flvplayback component to play a video. i've stripped the audio from the flv and am playing it, along with another audio clip, on the timeline at the same time. volume has been set for both clips, but i need to allow people to adjust the volume from the volumeBar that exists inside the video player. it's built in as2.

Recently I have been testing a few 720p .mov files converted to FLV by FFMPEG running on an encoding server. I am noticing that these files do not play back in my video player. It appears that they do not have any audio attached to them but when I play them in Adobe Media Player the audio is there.
Is this due to the FLVPlayback component in Flash 8 not supporting HD videos? When I test locally the video picture plays with no sound but when I run in a browser the video freezes and does not play. The progress bar appears to move as if the video is playing however.

by following a tutorial on [URL], I was able to display a youtube video in flash, but the problem is that the video doesn't have a control menu. Just wondering if there is a way to make one, either it is customized or some default menu provided by youtube or flash.

I'm loading the video (which is just an audio track with cue points) in using GreenSocks LoaderMax (along with the rest of my assets) and so have various instances of Video. The FLVPlayback class only accepts a String as its' source. Is there any way to hack it to bypass whatever loading it does and just feed it the video directly?

In that frame is a flash movie that contains the video that I have embedded onto the timeline for the movie. The filesize for this project is massive and I am struggling to work on the file. I want to be able to play the video files with the playback component in each of the frames where the video was.

View 1 RepliesI was given an assignment to create and external video playlist using an xml file. I have never used flash before, know nothing about encoding and all that was given to the class in terms of instuctions was a short tutorial that has no resources for troubleshooting. We were given everything; the external playlist file equipped with the video skin, the video list, actionscript that loads the xml and the xml file. We were told that all we need to do is change the names of the videos in the xml file to match the names of our videos. I did that. We were also told we needed to "name target", but we were not informed on how to do this. I have tried everything, visited every tutorial and I cannot figure out how to get this damn thing to work. I cannot even get flash to load the xml file.

I tried placing the full address of the xml file in, along with the file address of the videos, but again it did nothing. Everything is located in the same file, and the videos in a sub file in that file. I tried taking out the sub file and putting all the videos in the same file, but it did nothing.
I was wondering if there was a way to get the sound from a FLVPlayback component and manipulate it with using a custom volume slider? Within my Actionscript I currently have this code which enables me to control the volume of a MP3:

This is incorrect. I have tried to load several different skins and it fails, my coworker tried with her system "fail" I've managed to create my own playback bar (sorta) and was able to get the tab to work by assigning tab indexs however the flvplayback skins does not allow tab indexing.
I cant actionscript worth a lick so using my playback bar is not an option and the SkinUnderAllNoFullscreen playback was the chosen controller. point me in the right direction. Adobe and the forums over there were of no help.

View 2 RepliesHow would I go about using an external video in which the video would scrub (or move forward or rewind) when the user clicks on an object and drags the object left or right? I want to make a site in which the user has control over the movie, and when they choose left or right, the video will scrub to a certain cue point. wants it hits that cue point, the video will seek to another cue point and the story will continue. I want to make it so when the user clicks on the person, and drags them, it scrubs through the video as if the person is walking in a certain direction. I think I have the cue points set up properly, now to just figure out the rest.

So for instance I will have slide 1 (graphic) - slide 2 (video clip) - slide 3 (text). I have used CS4 before for one of my classes but that was a little while ago, and I feel like I'm starting over again. When I import the first graphic (.png), is there an option to have it resize to fit the stage?

An error like this appears: "NetsStream.Play.StreamNotFound", saying that there is no video file there I also try with absolute paths, with slashes instead of backslashes..., and I just get to get it working if I copy this video file in the same folder in which lesson11_start.fla is, and enter "solution5.f4v".
We have a major project on here at the moment to do with flash menu designs and videos etc. Basicly we have a menu where u click a button and it jumps to a frame. On that frame is the information etc, and a video for that particular subject. Like Time, GPS, Speed, G-Force etc.I got my raw data, and ActionScript coded it up into a Flash movie, but then worked out I have two issues.Flash export to AVI is pretty crap, and basically does a screen capture.The export to AVI cant be transparent or anything but spare/rectangle.Should I use something other than Flash to create my speedometer, that is more friendly for overlaying on a AVI?This is the sort of thing I am trying to create.
I have a CSV of all my raw data, and am trying to find a way to overlay it and look as professional as that link above. I can make the dials in actionscript, but then exporting to AVI with a 'screen capture' type program, they look pretty crap. But on the other hand, inporting my HD video info Flash, and it becomes pretty crap quality, and still have the export issue at the end.

Whenever I open the page I'll get a popup window with the above errors and once I click "continue" it will go ahead and play the video, but without the control skin. how to get the skin to show up?
I have a HTML5 video with jquery hooking into the player like so: video.currentTime += 1; But when IE comes along and insists on using Flash plugins, none of my JQ will work - How am i supposed to control the video when Flash takes over from HTML5?
