Going Directly To A Scene From An External Webpage?
Dec 6, 2005
I have a Flash website with an online shop. The shop part uses javascript and cgi in separate html pages. I want to insert a link to a URL from these web pages back to "scene 3.0 (home)" in my main .swf file. The .swf is embedded in an index.html file so a link to the URL [URL] starts the flash movie back from the start with the intro and everything. I want it to skip the intro (scenes 1.0 and 2.0) and go directly to the "scene 3.0 (home)" scene.
I was hoping to do this from a flash plugin, kind of how flash accesses the microphone or webcam but it doesn't seem possible. Is this going to be possible using Java, or ActiveX, or some other strategy that I haven't looked at yet?The idea is to do it without a client install, or at least something lightweight and browser and platform independent.
I'm making a DVD menu in flash. It will open several kinds of files. .mov .avi . ppt . pdf etc.But i want to open those files directly, without prompting. When i try to open non web files, a popup window appears, as shown in this screenshot:
I'm creating a simple flash navigation using some transparent .gifs. At present i import them then make them instances and use them internally in flash from there... But, is it possible to link the instance to an external gif file on the server so that the image can be change by simply changing the gif file/s instead of having to go back into flash??
I realise it would be easier to just update by importing the new images into flash but it's a client request and as they say 'the customer is always difficult'
ive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.
So here's our project hosted by our school. [URL] We dont have a preloader so you have to wait til it's loaded. After the dialogue, you will enter the first GAME (training phase). We call it MEMORY MATRIX. The game is an external swf so it is expected that it will load right away after the button is clicked. The problem is it wont function the way it is expected to and the sound wont load also.
Actually we have 6 external SWFs all in all to be loaded by the main swf. 2 external sounds and 2 external JPEGs and memory matrix is just one of the external files. The paths are correctly set. There are no sub folders. The index.htm is placed together will all the files needed for the game. If I run this using my files here on my desktop, it functions well.
I'm trying to play an external .flv in a .swf and embed in a webpage. I feel like I'm doing everything correctly and everytime I create it, it works offline. When I upload all the files online, nothing shows up. When I right click on the live webpage where the file should be playing it sees the swf, it's just playing and/or displaying anything.
everything here is fine. It opens finely. But... i want to pass parameters where if i click a button in html page My.swf should open a particular scene called 'Scene 2' rather than scene 1. i tried
I've created 5 buttons to load 5 different external swfs into my webpage. I use the following script. How do I unload it when the next button is been clicked. [code]
having a problem loading an external txt file into my movie from a different scene I have got the text file to load in with no problem on scean 1 but if I copy the code etc to scene 2 it does not work Okay this is what I have got on scenea. text field with the var: textbob. a blank movie clip that loads an external button with the following code appended to it
When page is loaded I can scroll it with mouse, But when I load first external movie clip the mouse scrolling function disappears. Is there anything I can do? I have search in flash mx 2004, and tryed to use // Mouse.onMouseWheel but nothing
I have each page broken out into scenes. Intro, Step1-19, and outro. Here is what i have in scene 2. Keep in mind the swf file i am calling was generated with Macromedia Captivate and i dont have a way of editing through flash that I am aware of. I need some time of code that tells scene 2 to go to scene 3 when the external swf file is done playing at 737 frames. Ok here is what i have: all on one frame
1. stop action
2. a label for navigation purposes
3. preloader action:
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myListener:Object = new Object(); myMCL.addListener(myListener);[code]....
Problem 1. I am using actionscript to call the external swf file. I have a preloader that is working somewhat. It preloads the movie with a bar and when it reaches around 60%-70% it starts playing the movie too soon and the bar doesnt go away till it is full. So you see the movie playing with the bar still loading for a bried time.
Problem 2 (bigger problem that 1). After the movie plays it stops and doesnt go to the next scene because I had to put a stop action on the first frame for the preloader to work. So it plays the external file in the container but doesnt move on to the next frame or scene.
I had a friend try this approach and got an error: Make a MC that has an action script that says..
onClipEvent(enterFrame) { if (_root.step2_container._currentframe >= 737)[code]....
That sounds like logical but isnt working. The error I am getting is: **Error** Symbol=loader_helper, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 1: Clip events are permitted only for movie clip instances
i have designed a flash projector using as3 in which I have successfully loaded an external swf onto frame 2 of my first scene called "start". i want to include a Restart button in a later scene called "intro", which will unload the external swf as well as restart the entire presentation from frame 1 of my "start" scene. my problem is that I can't figure out how to tell my Restart btn, located in the "intro" scene, to look in the "start" scene to unload the external swf - i need to eliminate the "1120: Access of undefined property..." error when working in multiple scenes.
lets say i want an external FLV flie to play using a component. How can I force at the end of the flv file to go to another frame/scene?So imagine an external video clip plays, once its finished your force to a screen that says "click to go to my website".is this possible? Or does the flv have to be imported to stage???
im stuck with preloading sounds. i want to preload mp3s into my movie, but the thing is that they shouldnt start playing when completly/partially loaded.
i want the mp3 to get completely loaded in the background(but shouldnt play as yet) when some animation is completed and scene 2 is reached the mp3 should start playing.

so I have some buttons that, as of right now, simply trigger the scene to move on while at the same time killing some particle effect animations I have spawning when the animation is idle. What I now need to do is make these events move on to a specific scene AFTER the rest of the scene's animation has played out (about 400 more frames) I'm figuring that the gotoAndPlay command has to be tied to some sort of timer variable that I would have to figure out based on my fps. Or maybe there is a way to set up a timer directly tied to a certain amount of frames allowed to go by. I'm pretty noob at actionscript, so keep that in mind. Here is the script at the point where the animation pauses to await user input on the buttons:
No..not that type of parenting ;DOK,I have a main scene, then sitting in the root scene I have 2 movie clips.1)centro2)fotoIn the first movie "centro" there is a menu btnI want this menu btn to call up mclarge + its frame (1) thats housed 3 levels inside the foto mc in root.
Main scene - (1) centro (banner which houses menu btn) (2) foto_mc - Main_boy_mc (<---works if menu btn houses in here)

I'm trying break down a large Flash project into smaller swf's using a Loader :
stop(); var reqA:URLRequest = new URLRequest("New_Inro.swf");var loaderA:Loader = new Loader(); function imageLoadedA(event:Event):void { addChild(loaderA);} loaderA.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imageLoadedA);loaderA.load(reqA);
Some of these swf files are animations which have code that states :
MovieClip(parent).gotoAndStop("frameThree");
The first loader works but I cannot get that swf to move on to the next frame(frameThree) to load the next swf file
Instead I get this message
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label frameThree not found in scene Scene 1. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at New_Inro_fla::MainGuy_1/frame146()[New_Inro_fla.MainGuy_1::frame146:2 ]
I'm getting this error in the OUTPUT window, when I PREVIEW (COMMAND + RETURN) my SWF:
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label nGallery_btn not found in scene Scene 1. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at BrookBrovazMusic004_fla::MainTimeline/pageSelect()
- The funny thing is that the SWF works the way I want it to. You can view it here: http://brookbrovaz.com
- I just don't like the idea that something's wrong, according to the OUTPUT window anyway.
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label instance121 not found in scene Scene 1. at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndStop() at Untitled_fla::MainTimeline/goLabel()
this is my code:
stop(); function goLabel(e:MouseEvent):void {

i am using a movie clip button to open a swf with a loader. hope i m not missing any information/other coding....
I've created a class which simulates an action for example a ball bouncing about a screen thus I'd create it like so:
Code: var Ball1:ball = new ball(x,y);
How would I go about adding this to a loop, in a sense of every frame add another ball till you reach the maximum balls currently after looking in help, google and forums this is all I could find
