I've done some searching and it looks like you cant hide a layer using action script. I'm going to have a page with a lot of form controls on it and when the user clicks the submit button, i want all those controls to go away so that i can display something else.I really dont want to have to do control._visible = false for every single item. I did see one person saying i could attach those form fields (movieclips) to a parent movieclip, and then just make the parent visibl = false. would that be the best way to hide a bunch of controls without explicitly setting the visability on each movieclip
I am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer. That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
its been a while since ive used flash,and im struggeling with a command id normaly do within seconds.im trying to add a stop action on one of my layers,i know the action script is stop ( ) ;but i cant recall how to add it only to the particular layer. im affecting the whole scene when i add a new layer and do the action.
Is there a way to layer action script? I design horror related websites and I have a client that wants leaves to blow across his front page. I used the snow effect here [URL]..
You can see where the leaves are blowing over the old wood I made. Is there a way to make the leaves blow underneath the wood? It would give the effect that you're looking outside a window at the scarecrow.[URL]..
I am a beginner when it comes to ActionScript. I am currently working on a Slide Show Pro project. Specifically SSP for Flash (AS3) and Director. I have 4 custom buttons at the bottom of the slide show. When I try to place ActionScript on my Action layer for let's say two of the buttons I get an error that says "Duplicate Function Definition." Here is the code I am using:
Im creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)
Is it possible to create multiple layer masks over a single layer using Actionscript3?Below is the flash effect I wanted to create with masks.First it starts from A and goes to B and C simultaneously.Then from B it goes to H and D simultaneously (the same applies to C).This is how the end result will look like.ps. I need my background to be transparent. I'm embedding it into a web page later.
I can't seem to go to a master edit file that is supposed to show both the body (layer 1) and wing (layer 2) of a flying bird animation. Is there a way to merge these two since I'm planning on shrinking it down and making a lot of birds?He merged the two layers at 14:24 of the video without even explaining how he went to this so called "Edit Master Movie Clip" that seems non-existent on Adobe Flash CS4.
I want to create a simple mask. A white oval on a second layer on top of a bottom layer that just has a word of type. I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
I have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.
how to do a comic type animation, how to create the characters, how to make them move and talk? It can be a free or paid resource.
If I wanted to change an action from a button click to a frame-based action, what do I use instead of onPress? The hints from the AS editor are all click-based.
I have a slideshow that is looped ... it contains 5 slides.I am using a gotoandPlay action to control the slide show.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); }
There is a fade transition between slides.When a button is released ... I want to gotoandPlay (frame 98) ... and then have it stop 10 frames later on (frame 108). Frame 98 includes the transition ... if I just gotoandStop on frame 108 ... I loose the transition.Is there any way to incorporate a stop action, after a gotoandPlay action on my button ... without naming instances etc.I.E.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); STOP ON FRAME 108 INTEGRATED HERE }
I just want to make a simple button action using actionscript 2 but I can't get it to work! I'm sorry for even asking but I've been at this for too long now for it to not work I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 and I do the following --
File -> New Flash File (ActionScript 2.0) Insert -> New Symbol Name - test Type - button Export for ActionScript Identifier - test
And then draw it in using the keyframes and add the code to 'Actions - Button' for my button
Code: on(release) { trace("trace"); }
I click on the button and it animates but no action event in the trace?
How can I get an action to follow another action when a button is clicked? When a button is clicked, I want the timeline to go to a certain frame and play and when it's done playing, to go to another frame and play. I basically want two actions in one function.
Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.
whenever I publish a FLA file I have, and load it onto a website, I see elements which aren't suppose to be within the frame sitting outside the frame.These elements are outside the canvas in flash and come in for brieft flashy moments but then fly back out again.How do I hide all files outside the canvas? I tried masking the top layer and adding everything underneath it and locking it but that never worked.
I have a small microsite built using Flash 4. It contains 5 'pages' assigned to individual keyframes, each keyframe separated by 5 frames (F5s). Each Keyframe is labelled 'page1' through to 'page5'. I have a navigation bar for the entire site which includes NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons. When the user reaches the LAST PAGE/KEYFRAME I do not want the NEXT BUTTON to show. I suspect it is something simple like nextbutton.visible = true - but I've spent a day trying to work out how to do this but without success.I am using AS3 and the existing coding is shown below.[code]
I download a flash template to take apart and play around with to make sure i still know my way around the software. Everything was going great until I discovered there are part of it that I can not find. The animation are not in the timeline or anywhere else I've looked. When I scrub through it they aren't there, but when I preview the movie (F12) they are always there. I managed to delete the pictures in those particular animations, but can not edit or find anything else.
I have a flex app that I want to hide in a div until the user clicks a link or element of some type. I've noticed that embedding the swf in a div with style display:none does not actually hide the swf, so how would I go about accomplishing this? The goal is to have the flex app loading in the background while the user does other things.
I am attempting to hide a SWF file that has the AS2 FLV component in it only after the FLV has finished playing. How would I go about this?I've searched google fairly extensively and had no luck.I've found a way to hide the Div the SWF is in using a timed Javascript event that is external to the SWF, but I'd like to find a more elegant solution.
I am not a strong AS3 programmer but I have managed to get 90% of what I need done for a current project:

I am having one problem that I am not having much luck with though, I would like to have the two buttons visible set to false when the movie loads, which I hope would stop the initial flash that happens when the movie loads.
