Right now it is making the space behind the .swf file clickable for the link, but the Flash element is not clickable.
If the right thing to do is to edit the .swf file somehow, I don't consider myself a Flash developer, but are there any resources on where to get started or how to do something this basic with an existing .swf file?
I got my HTML embedded in my flash file, finally!But now I want some parts of the text that is in the HTML file to link to a specific label in flash itself.What variable can I use for this? or even a Href link?
I am trying to make a movie swf to load different .swf files but pressing html links in the same page it's embeded. What I got is that links are passing good a variable called 'video' to swf... Using a jscript in html page, and html links as follows:
<script language = "JavaScript"> <!-- function PassFlash(){ window.document.movie.SetVariable("video", "video.swf"); } //--> </script> <a href="#" onClick="PassFlash()">Load this video into flash please!</a>
But I think I didn't build the actionscript correctly.. I can't find the way to make the movie to load a determinated .swf using that variable...If I put a loadMovie (video, "mclipholder") and a stop (); in a frame the variable is not useful because the movie doesn't load. If I add a gotoAndPlay (1) for making the movie loop, the swf loads again and again...I want the main movie to be able to recognize when an html link is pressed (and passes the variable called 'video') and then to load the correct movie....
I have made a html file in which a swf is embedded with swf object. this swf contain dynamically loaded audio files. It works fine in offline but when it is uploaded it does not show the movie(swf is not playing) I see only empty space. i thought that it may take time to load, but even after waiting for long time the swf did not play and it shows blank white space.
I need to load contents of an external html document through AJAX. The problem is the external page has some Flash application embedded. Now I need to show this html with the embedded flash in my own webpage.
I used Dreamweaver to embed my flash file into an html file, using "Insert-->Media-->Flash".When I preview the file, everything works fine, but when I upload the file to the web, the external links to my blog and e-mail will not work. Before, I just had the flash file up, with no html, and it worked fine.Url...
I am trying to link my gallery made in flash (and published in html), to link to the rest of my homepage made in html. I have seen several example about how to link from a flash buttom to a new URL, but what I need is to link to a local html file.
First. Which are the codes to use to link from my gallery "galeria.html" to the rest of my homepage?
second. Where should I place my files: galeria.fla ,galeria.swf ,galeria.html. Should all they stay in the same directory
how to create the portfolio page. What I have is a flash element within an HTML page that displays the current work. The work is loaded from a XML file. I wanted the capability of changing the XML file in order to have the flash element load different pieces of work. I would like to have the links to make this change in HTML, but I'm not sure if this is possible. I'm wondering if I'm just going to have to expand the flash element and have the links to change the XML file within the flash file itself.
Is there any way of showing a link's destination from a swf in the browser? The answer might be a simple no. Hard to explain, so I have attached a screenshot that makes it clearer.
I know how to link it to whatever BUThow do I link it to a html file that isn't on the internet.For example, I put in "file///H:/index.html". Ok it works on my computer but the problem is that when I transfer my USB to another computer the drive may be E:/
I want to get an idea on how the majority of people structure the flash websites they make.First, do most of you actionscripters, when creating a website, use a parent movie that holds the sites navigation and an embedded blank movie clip to load individual content pages? I get the feeling that is true because it saves a lot of space in your swf file.
That was the easiest question. Next, when you create a transition effect to keep the viewer occupied between loading different pages, how do you usually go about this?Assuming you have a blank movieclip in the main SWF to load individual page content.Do you have a movieclip animation that is called in the main SWF that is a layer above or masks the container movieclip which is loading the external content? Or, do you have the transition in the actual content SWF, with a transition in effect, midframe with the content, then transition out effect.
It seems the second choice might be a little more repetitive, but maybe a little more simple, then again, maybe not.My last question is not actionscript but javascript.I want to load my flash file from a link on an html page that launches a new window that is perfectly sized around the flash movie, with none of the menu bars and that works on windows(ie, netscape, opera) and MACs.As a secondary, if its possible,I would like to have the flash movie pop up into the center of the screen, right now it pops into the top left corner.Here is the script I have. It works for PCs with IE, but a friend that looked at it on her MAC had to resize the window:
I made a flash mp3 player and it works fine in any other test pages. but when i embed it onto my site it just shows blank. what do i do? my site is [URL] and the flash player i tested here [URL] and it plays. What im i doing wrong? i tryed everything. right now i just got it in a iframe but i dont want that iframe.
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
I have embedded an automatic slideshow as a swf file into a website I'm designing for my parents. When I test the swf file, it performs exactly as expected but when I embed it into the html, it just sits there and doesn't run/animate/whatever.
The slideshow (should) automatically run through a group of 7 photos, with a fade transition and was all done with actionscript, loading the external jpeg files into alternate movieclip containers etc etc.
The web page where it doesn't work is here: [URL] - you can see that the swf just sits there, doing absolutely nothing.
The location of the swf file is: [URL] - as you can see, it works fine on its own!!
I'm looking for a (free) flash player that I can embed in my site and use to play a .m4a (.mp4 with AAC audio) file that will be obtained using a URL (i.e. it's not local to the server hosting the web page).I've tried searching on google for one, but either I'm searching wrong or no one has made such a thing. Ideally this would be very simple (small user interface with play button and maybe a progress bar) and it would be easy to have multiple instances of on an html page (can create the player with an <object> tag).
I'm just wondering why my swf files won't play when I upload them along with my HTML file to the server.
The problem can be seen at the following [url]... Can't get my embedded swf files to play in HTML file
I inserted the swf in 'insert media' - 'shockwave' and the thing works when I press play to view it within dreamweaver. However, when I try to view it on a browser, either locally or remotely, it doesn't work.
I have made a presentation with voice over, in which the images and audio files are loaded externelly from the folder where the swf was placed. the voice over files are in MP3 format, loaded with the script follows
mysound = new Sound(); mysound.loadSound("voice1.mp3"); mysound.start(0,0);

I want to add an HTML link inside the "theText" through the xml file, maybe some bold font here and there too. I'm not a pro with XML, so all the CDATA talk confuses me.
All'z I added was: theText.htmlText = true; theText.htmlText = '';
I have a problem that my slideshow works great when not embedded, I can click the pictures and the link opens in the same window just like I want. However, when I embed the slideshow the links do not work. I attach my embed code.
I wrote a flash (ActionScript3) based radio streaming player, there is a link in the player for users to click. It's is a "a" tag in TextField. The code looks like this
It works fine if I put my flash player in same domain of web-page, however, if the domain of web-page is different from the location of flash player, then the link is not clickable.
For example:
A radio example page
You can see there is a link in the title bar of radio player, I hosted the flash player on CDN, its domain is different from the web-page, therefore, the link is not clickable.
Why the link cannot be clicked if it is embedded in a cross-domain page? It doesn't make any sense. I did set the crossdomain.xml file properly, but it appears that it doesn't work. I want to make the link clickable everywhere, no matter what domain the web-page is located.
i have created a flash animation for my homepage, i want to make part of that flash animation a "enter" button so when clicked would go to my page 2 on my website.
i have never done any script before and only used dreamweaver on a mac. is there an easy way to create this button to link to my next page and to stop my file to stop looping?
How should I change the following code if I want to put my flash object into a directory named "flash/", I tried changing the value to "flash/photo.swf" but it didn't work.
When i embed a flash video in HTML it works in IE and in Firefox but not in chrome. I've looked it up and I've found that chrome adds two attributes to the embed tag, width and height. i have already set the width and height attribute in the embed tag in pixels but from some reason chrome changes it to percentage. when i inspect the element and write pixels instead of percentage the flash is visible again.
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
