View 2 RepliesI went through many links like this,this and this, but not getting good direction to move with. I need to implement some flash content in my iPhone app. good tutorials to move on with the conversion process.
Suppose I am having a flash air iOS app and I need to convert the whole app in objective c for say adding some features like APNS then I have to do some needful. I want to convert the air iOS based app in objective c for same thing and hence need a tool like Haxe.
In summary, I think my question is this: How can I force hxcpp to compile haxe code for Flash 8 ? Here's where I'm at. I'm new to haxe, and am trying to get a sample from here: [URL] to compile using hxcpp, in my tests to see how haxe compiled apps work on the iphone. I've gotten other samples to compile fine and put them on the iphone, but when I compile this sample, it complains with things like:

I recently came to know about the adobe flash builder with flex in latest release it supports to achieve the benefits of flash for iOS apps.As i am looking for a calendar based app,before taking the Adobe flash builder as a solution, i would like to be clear on the following queries.
What limitation is there of the ipa file generated from FB 4.5 as opposed to a core COCOA touch based solution What are the performance differences between the FlashBuilder app and natively built iPhone app. Is there any limitation of building a HTML5 based app given the calendar functionality apart from look and Feel.
My issue is when I try to compile my .ipa using the adt tool (through Terminal) I get the following error:

The iOS native extension pops up an instance of the UIImagePickerController and it works apart from the following line of code, which causes the above adt error:

I have included the MobileCoreServices framework in my project and added the following to my header file:

First a little background: I'm looking for a way to create a "collection" library that abstracts the Flash Player version based implementation (Vector on FP10, Array on FP9) away from the calling code. I've already written a small AS3 lib doing that but.the performance is bad (especially because of two levels of indirection and the runtime type checks on the Array implementation)the code is ugly (since Vector types need to be defined at compiletime I needed a factory returning concrete Vector instances based on an Enum that contains only the supported types)
I'm currently looking into haXe as a possible solution since it supports type parameters and is able to compile to various Flash Player versions (and apparently compiles into mmore optimized bytecode).Now, my question is: Is there a way to write a library in haXe that can be used like this in AS3 code
i'm following Christian Cantrell guide for packaging AS3 application for iPhone, but i can't find a way to use the packager for creating an app for testing on device. I've tried with -target ipa-test and -target ipa-app-store but when i try to upload my app on the iPad, iTunes throws an error sayng that i'm not allowed.I've done a simple test using the Packager bundled width CS5 (with the same certificates) and everything gone right.
Is is possible to use CS5 Packager for Flex project ? (i know that flex isn't optimized for mobile)
It could run a native process in an adobe air application by enable extendedDesktop.
But if create an flex library, does it support running an native process. If yes, how to configure it?
I have a custom class that is currently not extending anything (it's for executing specific types of queries on a database) but I need it to send an event to its parent class. addEventListener is not defined in it, though.
I notice a lot of the main flash classes extend EventDispatcher, so is that what I should do if there's no other alternative? Just have any class that will have to communicate with other classes extend EventDispatcher?
Flex complains if I want to create an object from a library symbol with linkage: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method [linkage name]. So to avoid this, I create a class for that symbol, in this case extending BitmapData using Flex's new ActionScript Class feature. can someone please provide an example of WebSocket implementation in Android, iOS(iPhone/iPad) and Flash (not flex!).I found some libraries but none of that work :). My browser WebSocket implementation is working great using Socket.IO, now I would like to dig also into Android, iPhone and Flash. I am creating an actionscript video player in Haxe and to avoid the asyncError I am trying to create a custom Object. How do I do this is Haxe? The client property specifies the object on which callback methods are invoked. The default object is the NetStream object being created. If you set the client property to another object, callback methods will be invoked on that other object. Here is my code.

Basically there is a jQuery library that emulates the native cocoa gui widgets with JavaScript for mobile websites, just wondering if there is something similar in Flash.

I am just wondering however. What are the downside? I am sure that doing it in flex is not as performant as doing it in obj-c or java. But how bad can it get? Are there other downside of doing it in Flex? (vs obj-c for iphone/java for android and bb)

I succesfully add the Timer and the 24-seconds Timer, but now i need soooo much help. Problems: 1. When the Timer reaches 0 mins, it display only :59, not 00:59 2. I tried to add a Button for the Counter of the points, but it seems very complicated in AS3(not in AS2 :/). I created a TLF Read Only Text named "HomeScore" . We have done some research and here's possible solutions:
HTML5: not yet very standard and we are lack of experience. Flash: it looks like Flash on iPhone runs on some sort of virtual machine, it's not very efficient. We have little knowledge on this too. Silverlight + Cocoa Touch: it looks like MS is now giving up SL. We need two times of work on GUI if we choose this. Maybe I can write some XAML parser for iOS using UIKit and Core Animation.
I just finished with developing my application by Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and I wonder if this will be visible to iPhones 4 because support for Retina displays was added since CS5.5.

I'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.
View 6 RepliesI have built a multi-touch application which is based on a Java EE backend and combined with BlazeDS to a Adobe Flex frontend. The application runs on a DIY-Multi-Touch which I built. Now I want to use another solution. The Adobe Flex frontend (with a multitouch library) and the BlazeDS adapter should be replaced by a solution which covers iPhone/iPad, Android and commercial Multi-Touch displays.
The problem is the iPad/iPhone, there is no Flash Player runtime (not the jail-breaked ones), but the application should be runnable also on those devices. So Adobe Flex and a Java frontend (no JVM on the iPhone/iPad) is not possible anymore. At first, starting the developing of the application it was not neccessary, to run it on Apples mobile devices, but this changed So, what can I do, using HTML5? So I can use it for Android and iPhone/iPad. But I also want to make it possible to use it on a commercial multi-touch-display and normal display with a mouse (I only have gestures for one finger, the 2-finger gestures are not neccessary). Are there any frameworks that allow this? Because I do not want to create several frontends (App for iPhone/iPad on Objective-C and a Adobe Flex for all other devices), it would be great if I can build a frontend for all devices.

Can an iphone app developed with Adobe AIR (version 2.6/2.7) play a streaming sound when it is in background? Only native application can play in background? I have not found a clearly response to this question on documentation. PS: i'm using the Adobe AS3 class Sound to play a shoutcast streaming.
View 2 RepliesI'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?
