Objective C :: Failing To Build Air IPhone App (with A IOS Native Extension) With Adt?
Feb 13, 2012
My issue is when I try to compile my .ipa using the adt tool (through Terminal) I get the following error:
ld: absolute addressing (perhaps -mdynamic-no-pic) used in -[MediaCaptureViewController showCamera] from /var/folders/NP/NPNiEhuUEwGiPRg0Bym7Sk+++TI/-Tmp-/97f7f1f9-6d5e-4486-9ba0- 147ff50f7157/libcom.luxson.mediacapture.a(MediaCaptureViewController.o) not allowed in slidable image. Use '-read_only_relocs suppress' to enable text relocs
Compilation failed while executing : ld64
The iOS native extension pops up an instance of the UIImagePickerController and it works apart from the following line of code, which causes the above adt error:
cam.mediaTypes = [NSArray arrayWithObject:(NSString *)kUTTypeMovie];
I have included the MobileCoreServices framework in my project and added the following to my header file:
#import <MobileCoreServices/MobileCoreServices.h>
I'm using Xcode 4.2.Project set to build with the following settings:
iOS Deployment Target: iOS 4.3
Enable Linking With Shared Libraties: No

I have an iPhone app with an UIApplicationDelegate conforming delegate called MyAppDelegate - it has a UIWindow.Instead of adding buttons, labels and whatnot directly to the window, I guess I'm supposed to make a child class of UIViewController for every screen I wanna make. When that screen should be displayed, I add the respective controller's view to the window as a subview. When another screen should be displayed, I should pop off any other view from the window and add the new view. Hope I got everything correct so far...
My intent is to make each view controller only know about its own things, so let's say I wanna call view A from view B, in ActionScript I'd add a button in A firing off an event which would be caught in view A's owning object (could be the application), which could take proper action (remove view A, instantiate view B and display it).How do I do this in Objective-C?

I am trying to use the IOS in-app native extension, which is found at [URL], and I have linked the SWC with my flash project... The problem I am having is that all of the usage code talks about integrating with a Flex project rather then an FLA - does anyone know if it is possible to port this extension for use with a flash project?

If ExtensionDll.dll uses the functions in the other Dll, the extension won't load. DllMain is not called. It seems like DllUsedByExtensionDll. dll is not in the Dll search path when the air application uses the extension is running. How should I make the application find the extra Dlls, if I don't want to put them into some common Dll path?

I went through many links like this,this and this, but not getting good direction to move with. I need to implement some flash content in my iPhone app. good tutorials to move on with the conversion process.
Suppose I am having a flash air iOS app and I need to convert the whole app in objective c for say adding some features like APNS then I have to do some needful. I want to convert the air iOS based app in objective c for same thing and hence need a tool like Haxe.

I am writing an extension that will allow a Flex application to access Android's native image picker. I am able to launch the image picker activity without issue, but after it returns to the caller, which is an FREFunction object, onActivityResult is not called. Because of this, I am unable to figure out what image the user has chosen.
When I use the exact same contents of the FREFunction in a native Android app, The app works fine, and I am able to retrieve the URI of the chosen image in onActivityResult. How can I get onActivityResult to fire, or at least retrieve the information returned by the image picker activity?

Is it possible to return a struct from your native code? It's relatively straight forward to return an int or a boolean but how do you return a more complex struct back to the actionscript?

I'm writing a simple game based on my physics engine for Android (in Java). Because I want to play with some special graphic effects performance is very important for me. I read on the Internet that you can write an application in ActionScript3 and then just export it as an iPhone/iPad or Android application. That means, I wouldn't have to rewrite everything from Java to Objective-C if I wanted to make version also for iPhone. Do you have any experience with writing games in ActionScript3 for both Android and iPhone/iPad? Are there any significant advantages / disadvantages?

I am working on a native extension for Flash. I am going to invoke my native methods from Flash and pass Dictionary objects where those objects have various data members of various data types. These property types are dynamic and might not be known at compile time.So I found that we have a method called FREGetObjectProperty that says it can return the value given the property name. But in this case since we dont know the property name since it is dynamic, how to extract the property names and values from the Dictionary objects?

I've been creating an application using the Adobe AIR Packager for iPhone (command line style).The app consists of a lot of screens that provide various information, and the navigation is handled all in the document class via an event-triggered function that uses a large switch-case statement to determine what screen to go to.
When we compiled it through the iPhone Packager and tried to test it on one of our phones, it would load up to a blank screen.
After some error testing it was revealed that the switch-case itself is causing a problem (changing it to an if-else that had the same functionality worked just fine). Does anyone know whether this is a known issue, or if something can be done to fix that other than converting it to an if-else.

I recently came to know about the adobe flash builder with flex in latest release it supports to achieve the benefits of flash for iOS apps.As i am looking for a calendar based app,before taking the Adobe flash builder as a solution, i would like to be clear on the following queries.
What limitation is there of the ipa file generated from FB 4.5 as opposed to a core COCOA touch based solution What are the performance differences between the FlashBuilder app and natively built iPhone app. Is there any limitation of building a HTML5 based app given the calendar functionality apart from look and Feel.

In my Cocoa app, I want to prevent Flash from loading in a WebView, and let the user decide if the Flash should be shown for each page. (That's the same behavior already available through the ClickToFlash plugin or Safari extension. Bundling any of those extensions is probably not an option because of licensing issues.)Unfortunately most of the Flash I'm trying to avoid is generated from embedded JavaScript specifically designed to prevent easy flash blocking, so I cannot filter the raw HTML for inclusion of Flash objects.Also, I cannot disable JavaScript for my WebView, as the page I want to display looks completely different when JavaScript is turned off.Is there a notification/hook I can use to modify the page DOM after JavaScript has been executed, but before the Flash plugin is loaded?

Currently I am building an application that launches crtmpd (a rtmp server written in C++).
Whenever I launch the application from within Flash Builder it works great, if I install a release build from an air file the process.start() returns a generic "could not start process" error.
The crtmpserver.exe is stored in applicationDirectory and the config file is kept in applicationStorageDirectoy.
So I've moved it to the native storage directory. But the problem persists. I've found the following though:
startupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo();
startupInfo.executable = binFile;
processArgs = new Vector.<String>();
processArgs.push(luaFile.nativePath);
startupInfo.arguments = processArgs;
In the IDE after this startupInfo is setup correctly. On client machines all properties of startupInfo are still null.

I have a game I wrote in Actionscript 3 I'm looking to port to iOS. The game has about 9k LOC spread across 150 classes, most of the classes are for data models, state handling and level generation all of which should be easy to port.
However, the thought of rejiggering the syntax by hand across all these files is none too appealing. Are there tools that can help me speed up this process?
I'm not looking for a magical tool here, nor am I looking for a cross compiler, I just want some help converting my source files.

I'm trying to build an iPhone app for a local climbing gym. At the moment, they are building a simple php forum for members to post what day and time they want to climb so they could find other climbers to partner up with. What would be the best/easiest method of pulling the forum text and linking it to the app? I'm trying avoid closing the app and opening safari whenever the user clicks the "Find a climber" button.

I'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.

I have built a multi-touch application which is based on a Java EE backend and combined with BlazeDS to a Adobe Flex frontend. The application runs on a DIY-Multi-Touch which I built. Now I want to use another solution. The Adobe Flex frontend (with a multitouch library) and the BlazeDS adapter should be replaced by a solution which covers iPhone/iPad, Android and commercial Multi-Touch displays.
The problem is the iPad/iPhone, there is no Flash Player runtime (not the jail-breaked ones), but the application should be runnable also on those devices. So Adobe Flex and a Java frontend (no JVM on the iPhone/iPad) is not possible anymore. At first, starting the developing of the application it was not neccessary, to run it on Apples mobile devices, but this changed So, what can I do, using HTML5? So I can use it for Android and iPhone/iPad. But I also want to make it possible to use it on a commercial multi-touch-display and normal display with a mouse (I only have gestures for one finger, the 2-finger gestures are not neccessary). Are there any frameworks that allow this? Because I do not want to create several frontends (App for iPhone/iPad on Objective-C and a Adobe Flex for all other devices), it would be great if I can build a frontend for all devices.

I am looking to develop basic client server data application to add value to a website.
The website is .net based and opening an api such as asmx web service, json or xml would be simple.
Can anyone tell me what are the limitations - technically, what is possible with flash and also what Apple consider to be good practice.
Does anyone have any Actionscript code examples?
