Is there a way of getting it to sit on the site home page with a different image, ie. a screen shot from elsewhere in the video (without editing the actual video in an editing programme), which displays until the user presses play, then returns to it when the video is finished?

Creating a screen shot from an flv on the same server works fine, but when I try to load the contentPath from a remote server the video plays fine, but the .jpg generated in the PHP file is blank with a white background.

View 6 RepliesI'm building a kind of avatar creator. At the end, I want the user to be able to capture what they have made and repost it to the site, essentially save out their creation as a web-friendly image - png, gif or jpg.
Ideally they'd save out two versions, a full size and a thumbnail.
In any event, is there a way to do something like this?
I need to load textbox.text in to string Obj and find the x y coordinates of some characters by the start and end index of that string. I am already doing this by using textSnapShot class and it is working great, but this class is working only on static textbox it is not working on dynamic textbox. any one knows any way of doing this! here is the snapshot function it returns xy coords:

Problem: Conditions:
IE7, SP2, latest flash/java. Only reproducible on one machine. Observations: Smaller than a javascript alert box, and seems to be generated when a swf on my web page loads. The dialog is modal, however, like an alert box.
I've tried matching the configuration of the machine in question, but a recreation of the machine does not get this error. I'm not ultra-familiar with flash/flex, so is there something that flex/flash could do which would cause this error dialog to appear.
How would one even go about debugging this? It's mostly not reproducible aside from a single machine, and the circumstances which cause the error are unknown.
What are the options (or is it possible at all) for a web page (running on a remote server, not localhost) to access a data stream (not video) coming in via the USB port of the local computer?
Ideally this would work cross-platform (Windows, Unix, Mac anyway) and the local computer would not have to download/install anything to make it work (beyond what you can reasonably expect a computer to have)
An embedded Java applet seems the only way, but I'm wondering if there's any other technologies that could do it. If the restriction is lifted so that the user can install something (basic for non-techies, not setting up a local server running node.js for example) does that make more things possible (Flash?)
Imagine I want a user to be able to copy-paste a selection of pixels from MSPaint into a browser-based app. Is this possible using JavaScript in any current browsers? Will it become possible in HTML5?If not, is it feasible using something like Flex/Silverlight, or is it simply not possible at this time, and you'd have to save a file and manually upload it?
update: sounds like HTML5 should allow it, but that's a way in the future to be genuinely useful. Some suggestions of Java applets and Flash are mentioned, probably Flash would be preferable since parts of the web-client would probably use Flex anyway... I'd rather not have requirement for Java and Flash in my site.
I was hoping to do this from a flash plugin, kind of how flash accesses the microphone or webcam but it doesn't seem possible. Is this going to be possible using Java, or ActiveX, or some other strategy that I haven't looked at yet?The idea is to do it without a client install, or at least something lightweight and browser and platform independent.

View 1 Replies(Flex 3) I have a TextArea component which needs to hold the user's clipboard content. The TextArea does the job relatively well for most cases but when pasting a large amount of data, I can't seem to get the content in the component at all due to the script execution timeout.
I've done a fair deal on investigation to try and hopefully find how I could make this work. I found that the TextArea is using a IUITextField (which is in my case an instance of TextField at runtime) do handle the job of obtaining the pasting data and then throws an event when it is done.
I have found no way to take a look at the source of TextField as it is a class in the playerglobal.swc library.
Is there a way for me to maybe see the source of that class or is there something I'm missing in my approach to figure out a way to make this work?
I have designed a website in flash. I tried all the file resolution size like 1024x768 or 800x600 or even 1000x600. Whatever size it is, the webpage doesnt fit on my monitor. Either it is too small or very big.Also I dont want to see any blank white space. How will I fit it exactly on all monitors?

The bottom bar stays in place, it doesn't matter how big your window is. I used 100% width and height in the flash settings, and "noscale" is on.
Although. on a iMac when I hover over my website, it looks like the flash file grows(my dimensions at the top left say its shrinking).
I have a SWF file in Dreamweaver. It's a photo gallery and one of the options available to click on the gallery is "Full Screen". When I play the file in Adobe Flash Player 10 the Full-Screen option works fine, but when I have the file embedded in Dreamweaver, when I preview the page, for some reason the Full Screen option doesn't work and nothing happens when I click it. How can I make my flash Webpage displayed same size on any screen resolution of my computer? Whether it is 1024 X 768 or 1280 X 960 screen resolution, the size of Webpage (Flash Webpage) should always be same so that user don't need to use horizantal scroll bar to view all the content.

I am playing a video and created a button which displays video area in fullscreen but video doesn't cover whole screen area, there are blanks left and right of the video. I searched a bit and every flash player i found with full screen option in fact resizes the video the same way, it just doesn't cover whole area. Why is that? Can video in full screen mode be resized to cover whole screen area without those blanks at sides?

I'm trying to paste some non-dynamic text from a mockup from illustrator into flash. This is something I've done a million times before but my new version of flash(cs5) is giving me issues. The default format when you paste text is now TLF which has a ton of problems associated with it and I don't want to use it. If I paste the text in and then change it to "classic text" it changes the layout of the text which makes me basically have to redo my text layout. Is there a way to change the way text gets pasted in and make it default to classic text?

I have set up a timer to detect mouse position and got the functions working but I dont know how to pause the timer in order for the fade to take effect.
