Javascript :: Cannot Get CSS Drop-Down Above Flash File
Nov 13, 2009
I have searched everything and tried every method I can get my hands on and cannot get my CSS drop-down menus to display above my Flash file.
You can go to: [URL] and username is 'riverlife' and password is 'flow' (without the quotes on both).
I am using swfObject and have the <param name="flashvars" value="wmode=opaque"/> set. The div around the drop down is absolute position with z-index of 9999 and the div around the flash file is relative position with z-index of -1

I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3.
I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.

Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
The reason I need this is because my upload form uses session cookies (for user authentication) and an CSRF token both passed to the server when uploading files.Is it technically possible to pass filenames (+ paths) to a JavaScript application which then handles the upload?

I'd like to call a javascript function from an embedded .swf file. Specifically, I'd like to call a function in one of my externally linked javascript files from within: function loadTrack(){
[Code]...
which is in an .as file which I assume somehow becomes the swf file. How would I go about this and 're-compile' the .as file?

I have a flash file that contains a package "game" which has a class "Scores" and a method setValue(). I want to write some lines of Javascript that allow me to call that method. Someone directed me to this tutorial, but I am still a bit confused.
Javascript: alert("start"); var so; so = document.embeds[0];
so.addParam("allowScriptAccess","always"); import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
ExternalInterface.call("setValue[2600]");
displays an alert to tell me that it has indeed began to execute saves the embedded flash file into a variable and sets access imports that class calls the method.I am not sure about how this class thing works? This is just the bits and pieces I was able to come up with from that site, but I don't really understand how it all works (but certainly hope to eventually).This is the site: http:[url]...how-do-i-access-flash-function-using-javascript.When I execute the code with the importation nothing happens, but the alert does come up when I don't have that statement?

I have an iframe to a page where a Flash swf file is running; does anybody have an idea how to make it transparent so that my drop-down menu should be shown perfectly? Kindly be informed I can't edit the source page (add param = wmode, value = transparent to the Flash object), only if there is any chance to make it possible in iframe or some JavaScript on my page, I have already tried allowtransparency="true" and background-color="transparent".

I have the need to change a variable in a child Flash file.
The setup is a parent Flash file, that has called a child Flash, and placed it in a movieClip.
I can send a variable using Javascript to the parent Flash file, but not directly to the child Flash file. Is there a way that I can access the child Flash file directly with Javascript?
Or do I need to send the variable to the parent Flash file, and then have the parent send the variable to the child Flash file? Is there a sort of dot notation that I can use with Javascript to get to the child Flash file without first accessing the parent, when the child is added to the parent using the loadClip function in flash?

Is there any "mainstream" library used for this purpose? Commonly spread, well maintained, documented etc.I found these (using flash):
Uploadify - not many releases, latest 12/2010, no documentation (!)
SWFUpload - latest release 03/2010, documentation
fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?

is there a simple way to just pull back a true or false value from an associated javascript file to a flash file? here is what i have:
Code:
var bincheck:Boolean = fscommand("eval", "parent.check_bins(\'"+img+"\')");
if (!bincheck){return false;}
return true;
check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.

I need to be able to have a user drag multiple images from the locate file system onto the flash/flex/html5 app which will then taker the file name details and contact the server.Upon server response then upload the file ( assuming server validation passed ).I know this can be done in Java but that is not an option.Please do not suggest the FileReference.browse function as the retouchers are to stupid(no joke here) to use this and it has to be drag and drop.This has to work with all current versions of the popular browsers( hrome,FireFox,IE,Safari)What it comes down to is I want to put an image up on the web page stating drop here and allow them to upload the file(s) by dropping on it.

So I made a variety of drag and drop flash files that involved dragging 4 symbols over targets. This works very well, but sometimes it will mess up and when you drag it to the incorrect spot it will go to another one of the starting location's instead of returning to its original one

I currently have a photography website that calls a javascript file from the html page. there are nine galleries of photos and this javascript file loads all the images as soon as the viewer lands on the page where they can select the galleries.
my problem:
the photos load in order from top galleries in the list to bottom, which fits most viewers' patterns (from analytics). however, if a viewer clicks a bottom gallery and wants to see a photo, they have to wait till all prior photos are done loading.
here is the url [URL]
instead, what I would like to happen is that whenever the user clicks a gallery, the swf calls for a javascript file to load the images of just that gallery. right now I have a few on(release) commands.
how to call a javascript file from a flash swf?

how to link the buttons in drop down menu to the content(scenes) within the flash file? The drop down menu has been made using the masks. Those buttons, which are not drop down/masked, work properly. Those which are drop down/masked, do not work. The content appears after clicking on them, then disappears when other (drop down) button is rolled over.

As the site will be totally in flash, there is no use of JavaScript required. So, what is the best way to embed a SWF file into a web page without using JavaScript. And why do you consider it to be the best one?

I have been searching for this solution for some time have not found any good solid solutions. Everything I have seen is either 2 years old and does not work.
What I would like to do is use a MC in my flash file to act like a button and when clicked open the sharethis pop up to share this particular video's url. The site API docs really don't touch on Flash working with sharethis.

I'm trying to find a javascript method to delete flash cookies on a page, but with no luck.I know it can be obviously done through flash or flex, but the problem is I know nothing about flash, flex and actionscripts...So my question is: Is there a way to just load a prebuilt flash movie in a page, which just programmatically deletes all the flash cookies it finds?I could find some actionscript code around the internet and didn't look complex, but I don't know how to use it

Is there any hook to react to a user drag and dropping a text file onto a browser? If the user drops a text file onto the browser with my page loaded, I'd like to be able to open the contents of the text file using javascript. I don't think this is possible, but just checking.
Is something like this possible in flash?
As an alternate, the user could specify a file path for me, then I could open the text file and read it. Seems like this is a security risk and probably won't be allowed, but just checking. It looks like this is possible with flash 10?

I'm using Javascript to embed a flash file into a website which I then need to remove once it's completed playing.
Is there a way to do this in plain Javascript? Or will it require a callback type function to be added into the Flash file itself?
How do I code this? ._.
Javascript:
jQuery('body').append('<embed id="flashIntro" width="100%" height="100%" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="' + flashIntro + '" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" />');
