CodeMirror has a good syntax highlighting support but does not seem to support auto-completion.If no such editor exists do you know any way to implement auto-completion using HTML and javascript or any other browser-side technology ?

View 4 RepliesWe want a web app that allows a user to edit images on the browser and we're trying to decide which technology to use. We want to support simple image customization, such as high-quality resizing, cropping, image merging, and color transformations, as well as the addition of text elements with different fonts and colors.
The current options are: Flash: no worries about cross-browser compatibility; could use same image library on client and server; no iPhone/iPad support. Java (compiled to javascript with GWT): need to find a good image library in pure Java so it can be compiled to JS. Plain old javascript + HTML5: may be a mess due to multiple browsers; may need to write image editing code from scratch. Here's what's most important to us / criteria for choosing:
Image consistency: the image that the client edits on the browser must be exactly the same as the one we'll eventually use on the backend. We can achieve this by (a) having the same library both on the client and server to process images, (b) having the client generate the image and upload it to the server, or (c) use two different image processing libraries on the client/server and hope for the best in terms of consistency.
Option (a) seems best, but it would only be possible if we use Flash or Java/GWT. We don't like option (b) because the images are large; we'd rather save a sequence of operations to perform on a raw image than saving multiple transformed images. And we don't really know if option (c) is safe or not. Scalability: We prefer the client to do as much work as possible to decrease server load. Image quality must be kept high
Cross-platform: We'd like to support as many platforms as possible without rewriting everything (big negative for Flash due to iPhone/iPads).

I would like to have a button that the user clicks once they are done with their changes because I am having them edit multiple pieces of data in the editor and I would also like to validate the data before closing the editor as well. I just don't know what to do on the button's click event to make the item editor close and commit it's changes to the data provider.

Flex built-in chart components render too slowly.Would javascript line chart render faster than Flex line chart? If so, is it possible to use a javascript-based charting solution instead of flex component, within the Flex application? Or, is this an impractical (or crazy) idea? Anyone doing this out there? I wish to take a screenshot of one of my components, to capture the final output of my program, since a plain "printscreen" cuts off some of the output due to it scrolling. My current code looks like -

View 1 RepliesThe project I'm working on requires older libraries that extend mx components (such as TitleWindow and TabNavigator), I can't use what I know about Spark skinning directly. However, since the project is being programmed using the default Spark theme (with my modifications on top) rather than the Halo theme, I apparently don't have access to the styles I need (namely backgroundImage and contentBackgroundImage which apparently require Halo to be active). Simply setting Halo to be the theme will break other things, not the least of which my own theme.
Plans are in the works to replace the older libraries or at least patch them better to Flex 4, but as of right now, I need a way to style/skin these components without modifying them directly. It would be ridiculous to be unable to add a background image to a TitleWindow's content area! I've searched the internet high and low all day and tried countless variations of styles, skins, selectors, and combinations thereof with no luck. How to add a background image to the content of a mx TitleWindow while using the Flex 4.1 sdk?!

It loads everything fine and I can see buttons working in the swf, I can add a movieclip to the but I can't then access that movieclip (or don't know how), and it keeps telling me numChildren = null when I try to trace it out. This is set up as a custom component like this:

how I would access the children in the loaded movieclip?I have tried
mycomponent.image.getChildAt(2) and it returns and error that the index is out of bounds.
I have found something good here. [URL]..The mouseover effect on the list item is good. Any ideas to make this look.. I can infer that this is happening on mouseover of the Image Component. I think this is similar to google image search preview of images. If anyone have come across a component similar to this kindly share it to me and to all.
View 1 RepliesMy application consists of displaying a large custom tree like structure to the user that can eventually grow to massive proportions like the dimensions listed in the question. I allow them to export the image with the following line of code tied to a button click event:

I've managed to export images close to the dimensions listed but around there it start to get the error message listed below after spinning for close to 15 seconds:

Is the flashplayer plugin for my browser running out of memory? I noticed in my task manager it got up to about 1.2GB of memory usage(I have 4GB on my system). If that is the case is it possible to limit the memory usage for a given function like the ImageSnapshot.captureImage() call above?
Is there maybe a way to generate the component into 2 or 4 ImageSnapshot objects and piece them together afterward?
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
I want to create an xml editor UI in flex.Basically I want to present the xml in a textarea.Users can then edit the xml and save it in database.Also,based on logged in user's privilege,the level of editing allowed varies.A normal user can edit the attribute values as well as node values,but not attribute names and node names.

Normal user can only edit id values('1','2','3'),country values('aaaa','aaaa6','aaaa4') and user names('XASD','XASQWED','XASDRQQ').But not node names('users','user') and attribute names('id','country').
I prefer to present the XML to the user as in an editor like interface and restrict editing there,rather than using a grid interface in which attribute names and values are listed in separate columns and enable editing for value column only.
I've created a custom ItemRenderer extending UIComponent and implementing IListItemRenderer. This renderer contains a Text-Object to display the value.
For editing I'm using the standard ItemEditor (TextInput).
Now, when I want to edit a value, I click on a cell and the editor is created. But instead of displaying the value which was displayed in the renderer, "[object Object]" is displayed.
