The site is hosted by Slicehost, and as you can see the load times for the Flash movies are very slow, so my idea was to serve the swf files from Amazon S3 Europe.
To test it, I have all swfs uploaded to the same directory / bucket on Amazon, while the index.html and p2q_embed_object.js files reside on my local machine. The js file is changed to refer to the Amazon-hosted swfs. The first swf loads fine, but the others don't. What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to do this that would allow me to serve my Flash assets from elsewhere?
im loading some RSS from twitter.. it works fine when i'm testing local, but when customer uploads it on 3rd part server, it doesent work. It's most likely a flash security issue. Is it possible to make a serverscript file that outputs the RSS to flash? Our server does have both ASP and PHP directories.. so any will do.

We want a web app that allows a user to edit images on the browser and we're trying to decide which technology to use. We want to support simple image customization, such as high-quality resizing, cropping, image merging, and color transformations, as well as the addition of text elements with different fonts and colors.
The current options are: Flash: no worries about cross-browser compatibility; could use same image library on client and server; no iPhone/iPad support. Java (compiled to javascript with GWT): need to find a good image library in pure Java so it can be compiled to JS. Plain old javascript + HTML5: may be a mess due to multiple browsers; may need to write image editing code from scratch. Here's what's most important to us / criteria for choosing:
Image consistency: the image that the client edits on the browser must be exactly the same as the one we'll eventually use on the backend. We can achieve this by (a) having the same library both on the client and server to process images, (b) having the client generate the image and upload it to the server, or (c) use two different image processing libraries on the client/server and hope for the best in terms of consistency.
Option (a) seems best, but it would only be possible if we use Flash or Java/GWT. We don't like option (b) because the images are large; we'd rather save a sequence of operations to perform on a raw image than saving multiple transformed images. And we don't really know if option (c) is safe or not. Scalability: We prefer the client to do as much work as possible to decrease server load. Image quality must be kept high
Cross-platform: We'd like to support as many platforms as possible without rewriting everything (big negative for Flash due to iPhone/iPads).

I want to add text to the video that after X seconds at the bottom of the video that will show some text. For example: "Hosted by XXX". I cannot ask this from the designer because the text changes once a month and he will charge me for that work every time. This videos are in swf (flash) format. I need to do it online - while the page loaded or even asynchronously. My site it wrote in asp.net so this must be done(if it can) by asp.net or javascript.

In this type of model, I could theoretically then use all clients (web visitors) as test subjects. I believe that this might be far fetched, and thus will need to rely on a smaller subset of users. I'm looking for any way to do this. I have even thought about using speakers and a microphone to detect when a sound is playing, and then some how capture a screenshot and the DOM information.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to build an online teach tool that shows a presentation/slideshow. It needs to have the ability to track and make sure users are staying through the whole process. The client used this example to show me what they were looking for visually:[URL] Now, I let them know that with a flash video, there would really be no way to do any sort of tracking. What I envision is creating a multi page slideshow which has you click next for the next page. This "next" button would use some sort of javascript to enable the next button after a specified amount of time. A person would be logged in during this, so every-time the person moves on to next slide, I would track their process in the database. My question is, is there any better ways to do this tracking. Also, doing simple animations like cursor movements etc, can really only be accomplished well by using flash I assume? They mentioned using voice over etc.

View 1 RepliesCurrently I'm searching for a free solution to simple edit some photos at the users browser. Resizing and Cropping would be mandatory. I'm not searching for an online service (for example SUMO or PIXLR which are great), because I want to include the software into a WYSIWYG Editor. JavaScript would be really nice, but it would have to work in IE 8. Pixastic is a great example, but works only in modern browsers (not IE 8 :-/) Maybe setting up some kind of image processing service with ImageMagick and communicating with it through AJAX could also be an solution? Has anyone gained some experience with such a solution?
View 2 RepliesI think this is fairly straight forward but my skills lie in JavaScript and Ruby rather than flash so I want to run this past a few other minds :) I have a flash file that will take pictures of the user via their web cam. I want to take that newly created image, base64 encode it then pass it to a JavaScript function. That JavaScript function will essentially take this data then embed it into a hidden form element on the page.

I've pretty much taught myself everything about editing html so far, but this one is loosing me quickly. I've downloaded a html css template, edited out the fat i don't need, so on and so forth, now all I need is a photo gallery. However, I'm not sure how to embed the flash template to get it to run. I'm trying to use a sliding gallery, but can't seem to get it.

Now when i let user embed the swf on his on http page, i intend to send some data to amfphp without user seeing it. However i see that firefox with firebug plugin catches the post data easily. How is this happening ? Adobe documents say that if a swf is hosted in https and destination is also under https, its suppose to be secure?
