Javascript :: Detecting Audio In Third Party Online Advertisements?
Mar 1, 2011
In an ideal world, I could do this through a browser in real-time and send a notification that would include the DOM information needed to remove the ad. In this type of model, I could theoretically then use all clients (web visitors) as test subjects. I believe that this might be far fetched, and thus will need to rely on a smaller subset of users. I'm looking for any way to do this. I have even thought about using speakers and a microphone to detect when a sound is playing, and then some how capture a screenshot and the DOM information.

I need to design a Flash based web conference service. One requirement is it should allow multiple users to speak concurrently like a normal conference call facility does. However, I'm wondering whether Flash has any support of such mechanism. Can multiple client publish their Mic object to the same stream hosted by the FMS and get mixed together there? Or, rather, I have to create multiple streams for each speaker to publish to respectively and instruct every audience to subscribe all of these sterams and do the mix on the receiver side?

Is it possible to read first party cookies from flash? It should be noted that we have complete access to javascript via the ExternalInterface class. So, now the question is - can we access first party cookie from javascript? Our javascript code will be loaded by a website which is not hosted by us. This makes the cookies created by that website - first party cookies. How can we access these "first" party cookies?

I have a page with multiple flash objects which are written by a third party and thus can't be changed. They call a JS function but don't seem to pass any identifying parameters. Is there any way to determine inside the function which flash object called it?

Within a Chrome extension, how can I inject items into the context menus of 3rd party flash objects?
Is it possible to simply inject items using JavaScript? Is it possible to wrap the players in a container .swf that adds our context menu item along with the items included by the original swf?
Edit: To be clear, what I'd like to do with my extension is add a context menu item to any 3rd party Flash program. So for instance, if a user visits YouTube, I'd like to add my own menu item along with YouTube's custom items.

The task seems easy: I am loading a video via a netsream object (could be FLV or an h264 mp4) and I would need to check if this video has audio available (otherwhise sound control objects should be disabled or become hidden).

I have a FLV playing in my SWF and when viewed locally in Flash or just in the Flash player by clicking the file on my desktop the file plays fine with decent quality audio. However as soon as I upload the file to my website the audio quality seems to drop.

Is there a way to detect end of Flash movie (OOTB, without using some sort of flash callback). Alternatively, is there a way to know the length of the movie? Update: IsPlaying() looked promising (periodically checking it), but as it turns out, nobody is creating straight forward swfs any more; now, the content is embedded in main layer and while the content plays, the main movie is stopped and IsPlaying is always false...

I have a site that contains some videos that made by graphic designer , he also edit them now and then and add videos. I want to add text to the video that after X seconds at the bottom of the video that will show some text. For example: "Hosted by XXX". I cannot ask this from the designer because the text changes once a month and he will charge me for that work every time. This videos are in swf (flash) format. I need to do it online - while the page loaded or even asynchronously. My site it wrote in asp.net so this must be done(if it can) by asp.net or javascript.

I've seen two answers: Adobe Flash Detection Kit - Javascript detect flash version JavaScript routines only:[URL] Simple questions: are the detection algorithms, described above, identical and if not - which way is better? Will they work the same for desktop and mobile browsers (both iPhone/iPad and Android)?

I'm using Javascript to embed a flash file into a website which I then need to remove once it's completed playing.
Is there a way to do this in plain Javascript? Or will it require a callback type function to be added into the Flash file itself?
How do I code this? ._.
Javascript:
jQuery('body').append('<embed id="flashIntro" width="100%" height="100%" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="' + flashIntro + '" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" />');

Which is a better approach for this?
ActionScript3 or JavaScript+PHP?
Any open source tool?
After a long search, the only good example I found was this [URL] but I'd rather have a flash alternative.. Also I don't need all the extra functions such as filters.

I am trying to build an online teach tool that shows a presentation/slideshow. It needs to have the ability to track and make sure users are staying through the whole process. The client used this example to show me what they were looking for visually:[URL] Now, I let them know that with a flash video, there would really be no way to do any sort of tracking. What I envision is creating a multi page slideshow which has you click next for the next page. This "next" button would use some sort of javascript to enable the next button after a specified amount of time. A person would be logged in during this, so every-time the person moves on to next slide, I would track their process in the database. My question is, is there any better ways to do this tracking. Also, doing simple animations like cursor movements etc, can really only be accomplished well by using flash I assume? They mentioned using voice over etc.

I am interested in streaming audio on my website, but I have no clue where to begin. There are two types of streaming I hope to achieve. The first would be streaming a playlist of songs stored on the server and the second would be live audio streaming. Can anybody recomend any good sites or plugins to use?

I've made a website, to test the html5 audio. Unfortunately some browser doesn't support it. How to use a flash backend? I haven't found anything useable. The flash backend examples on the web use the DOM element, not the new Audio(). I don't want to use JQuery for this little experiment.
My code:

This problem is happening is both IE8 and IE7. I have a small swf compiled with flex. It's basically just a wrapper around audio streaming functionality. All the controls and such are in html with javascript. I load the swf using swfobject's "static" method. This works great in Firefox and Chrome. In IE, the swf loads correctly, but as soon as I try to stream any audio with it, I get an error. EDIT: I've reduced the code quite a bit to try and find the problem. You can see the new version running here. Here is the error, html and flex files for my reduced version:

I'm looking to start learning a scripting language for web audio and sound development. It needs to be able to handle simultaneous audio events, eg; to trigger a sound when another is playing (I'm not sure if and how this is possible, but have witnessed this kind of presentation: [URL] (can this kind of thing be done with JavaScipt?, this looks like AS / Flash)).
From what I can tell the choice appears to be between JavaScript (JS) and ActionScript (JS), with details as follows: - If going the JS route (look into JS and HTML(5) audio capability) Learn about the basics of HTML and CSS, and then start to look into JavaScript, Ajax, and JQurey (library / framework for JavaScript). If going the AS route Will not need to know as much about HTML and CSS. AS is the language behind Flash. Not supported on the i-phone(?) I know Java to around an intermmediate level.

I'm looking for a workaround to the "AdSense does not let you choose only images but no flash" issue. I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.

This isn't another one of those "How can I record audio in the browser?" questions... I know that the HTML5 Stream API is around the corner and Flash can already access the user's microphone and camera. I'm simply wondering, as a Javascript developer with little knowledge of Flash, if anyone has developed a JS library that hooks into Flash's device capabilities for recording but sends the results back to javascript (presumably using ExternalInterface).
In other words... libraries like SoundManager2 utilize a Flash fallback for audio playback, but they don't seem to allow for recording. Has anyone written a JS library that uses an invisible Flash movie to allow audio recording?

I am trying to capture the microphone and send the recording to my server.. I tried this method here but it records only a big WAV and the upload can be slow sometimes. Is there a way to capture the voice and compress it on the client side? Best method would be to send the recording while recording, but I have no Idea if this is possible. (It works for YouTube Live Webcam recording, it must work for Audio only too..)

I'm able to record sound with a Flash application embedded in my website, this audio is saved to a ByteArray, which I need to pass to Javascript in order to post to my server along with other required data.
I know I can use AS3 ExternalInterface class to communicate with Flash from Javascript, but what would be the appropriate format or variable type in javascript to hold the ByteArray, and how can I ensure that I won't lose much audio data when doing so?
