Media Server :: Achieve Multi-party Audio Conference With FMS?

May 17, 2010

I need to design a Flash based web conference service. One requirement is it should allow multiple users to speak concurrently like a normal conference call facility does. However, I'm wondering whether Flash has any support of such mechanism. Can multiple client publish their Mic object to the same stream hosted by the FMS and get mixed together there? Or, rather, I have to create multiple streams for each speaker to publish to respectively and instruct every audience to subscribe all of these sterams and do the mix on the receiver side?

I'm new to all this, so please forgive my lack of knowledge My purpose of this is to do high quality video conference. I've set up flash media server, and installed media encoder on another computer, input and output looks very much the same, but on the media player, it has about 1 second delay even on LAN,

is this because of the buffer of the flash player? how can i disable buffer completely?

Media Server :: FLASH Video Conference Large Scale Over 100k Simultaneous Connections

Mar 1, 2010

I am involved in project managment for a large video conferncing project involving over 100k simultanous connection and most likely to be increased 4 times by next six months. While figuring out the scalability area ,it was concluded that smart selection of hardware and origin-edge clustering will be suited most. Well while studying this documentation says it supports thousands of calls but unfortunately I could not determine the actual numbers. Can you tell me how many edge server will be needed for 100k simultanous calls/number of sessions per edge server and will we need license (4500$) for each edge server?

Will I be able to achieve this without any media server such as FMS and wowza? I heard about data packet loss during RTMFP. Is that true? What would be my limitations?

Flash :: Media Server - Send Video And Audio Data To A Media Server By Using RTMP Protocol

Jul 22, 2010

I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.

I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.

Media Server :: Fms 3.5.2 - Video / Audio Streaming Application - Audio Stops Or Lags Behind

Aug 25, 2009

I ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)

Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.

I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.

2) Is there any way to set up multi point publishing on Video on Demand files?

3) Say server 2 has restarted, is there anyway to force a push to that server without having to restart the feed?

Media Server :: Making & Tracking Multi Admin Call To FMS

Jun 4, 2009

I am writing an app that track data/stats on multi FMS servers and that is working fine for my own custom server side functions. What I do is loop thru a list of IP of my FMS servers, call each IP and I also pass the IP to the server side function that get return and I can have my Responder object plug the returning data into an associate arrays (using IP as index) for reporting. Now my problem is when I used the Admin API. Here I was doing the same thing except I don't know the IP of the respnding FMS and I need to capture the data (into arrays etc). I had tried extending the Responder class so I can plug in the IP of the calling server but so far no good. I guess I need a way to know who is calling back

Media Server :: Multi-point Publishing, Changing The Stream Name?

Oct 2, 2009

I have justed started using Flash Media server so this could be a really easy one to answer or not even possible.I have Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 publishing to Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5 which then publishes this live stream to two CDN providers.  I want to publish the stream with a different name to each CDN. Anyone know howI can do this without having FMLE3 publishing a backup stream and then FMS having to process two differently named streams?I.E.FMLE publishes a stream called bobThis is then published to CDN1 as bob and I then want to publish it to CDN2 as bob2Below the main.asc for the application but it ignores the second stream name and publishes to CDN2 with bob

main.asc file
server-side actionscript[code].....

Media Server :: Multi-point Publishing With Different Version Of FMSs?

Oct 23, 2011

I use different versions of  FMS (3.0 3.5 4.0 to 4.5) to muti-point publishing?Use existing old ones for most streams, and use 4.5 for iOS apps.

The answer is Im guessing probably yes, as I was able to multi-point publish to different big company's new FMS (4?) from one of our FMS 3.0 machine. But just to make sure before I make investment? Also Air 3 sdk based iOS app now can connect to FMS 4.5 and play h264 live video stream on ios devices over the appstore approved http-live-streaming protocol right? Just to be clear

Media Server :: Use NetStreamPlayTransitions.SWITCH To Create A Multi Angle View That Switches Between Video Streams?

Feb 21, 2010

Hi,I'm trying to use NetStreamPlayTransitions.SWITCH to create a multi angle view that switches between video streams. The issue I'm having is that NetStream.Play.TransitionComplete is called only after the buffer for the video before it is used up(this makes sense when using SWITCH to go between bandwidths but that's not what i'm using it for). Is there a way to force this switch before the buffer of the previous video is used up?

I've looked into SWAP but I can't really find any documentation on it. What I ideally would have happen is the next video in the array is triggered, that video is buffered and when there is enough to play it the stream switches to that one. SWITCH works really nice because there is no jump in switching when it's played but I just don't want the buffer to play out before the switch. Is there a way of maybe clearing the buffer of the playing video before i call SWITCH so it transitions quickly?

Javascript :: Detecting Audio In Third Party Online Advertisements?

In an ideal world, I could do this through a browser in real-time and send a notification that would include the DOM information needed to remove the ad. In this type of model, I could theoretically then use all clients (web visitors) as test subjects. I believe that this might be far fetched, and thus will need to rely on a smaller subset of users. I'm looking for any way to do this. I have even thought about using speakers and a microphone to detect when a sound is playing, and then some how capture a screenshot and the DOM information.
