i have a loader basically and i have a circle on it the scrubber.
i pulled it all the way to the left now i need to set it's X to 0.00 so i can easily work with it from action script.
i don't know how to make it 0.00
I'm wondering if there is any way to make the bubble sizes scale or resize when the size of the chart resizes. If the bubbles are set to a specific pixel size, it seems as though the size is set and that's it. So, if your chart is large, the bubble is size X and if the chart is small the bubble is still size X. [code]...
View 1 RepliesMy situation is this I have 4 movies which load each other, meaning: movie1.swf loads movie2.swf which loads movie3.swf which loads movie4.swf movie3.swf communicates with movie2.swf though the _parent path and it works. but i can't seem to make movie2.swf communicate with movie3.swf since movie2 is _parent i assumed movie3 is a _child...but it does not work so my question is what do i replace _child with?

In my flash project, I make a call to an xml file using url... and it works fine as long as the userhas entered url... in the url. If the user enters url...without the www my xml file wont load.I can't use a relative path here because I share the widget on other sites. Any ideas, how I can let both users that enter the www and no www see the widget load properly ?

I have this FLV player that plays movies in a library style.
Where you get thumbnails for all different videos with the ability to add different categories. I have a fla and XML file as my source files. xml has all the information about the list of movies titles description and all that and my fla file has info about the way player looks. I want to be able to add a tab called related videos, kind of like YouTube where when you play a certain movie it show a list of similar videos.
I am having trouble getting a relative path to my video to work.It plays when I link to the video on the server or when I use the absolute path from my hard drive but I need this to play on someone els's computer so looking to enter a realtive path but then the video fails. I am using AS3 CS4. I used to do this using AS2 CS3 so something must have changed.
View 3 RepliesSo I just found out the hard way that the path that Flash uses to load external content is based on the HTML it is embedded in, not the SWF itself. This is a problem for me because I have the HTML generated from a PHP file that is in a folder below the SWF. The PHP has other dependencies that would break if I moved it into the same folder as the SWF.So basically now my dev testing and web versions are separated by a folder.Is there a way to change the relative path Flash uses? Or am I going to have to hack things up?

This time however, the nav button that is used to bring up html pages within my site got out of whack. I have checked (and changed) the flash/menu_v8.swf?button=3 relative to the index page I'm trying to link to, but to no avail. I have also gone into Flash and can change the h-link of the TEXT on the button to the corresponding page, but it makes no changes whatsoever.

I have a movieclip thats inside another movieclip..lets call them mc1 and mc2..
the problem is that I want to get the position of mc2 relative to the stage...and not to mc1..is there any simple way to do this?

Imagine that I make a movie clip that looks like a chess board, and that inside that move board I place other movie clips that look like pieces.Now imagine that I tilt the chessboard so that you are no longer looking at it top down and rotate it so that the dark pieces are first in front of you and and this slowly changes until the white ones are, etc.In order to make this look right I have to rearrange the stacking order of the movie clips (which pieces are "on top" of which other pieces when they are drawn). But when the clip rotates, the mc.z value for all the clips does not change. Neither does the width or height which I thought I could use instead even though they are clearly looking bigger or smaller onscreen.I think that I might just be getting the z point relative to the other children of the rotating movieclip. Is there any way to get the z point relative to the stage?

View 1 Repliescreate a flash viewer, which will load various other flash movies. The viewer will be in the root directory, but the flash movies it will load are a few directories deep. Those movies access various sound clips that are in an audio directory relative to each swf I want to load.

It seems that when I load one of these movies into my viewer, the loaded movie is looking for the sounds in an audio folder in the root directory, and not relative to the swf I loaded. Is there a way to set this? I would rather not have to make the changes in each of my other movies to use the absolute path
I have two swfs, index.swf and history.swf. History.swf loads and xml file and some images using a relative path. This swf works fine on it's own.When I load history.swf from within index.swf to display it on stage, I get an error saying "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at History()"
I ran a test loading a basic test.swf (just text on stage) from within index.swf and it works fine.I am guessing that maybe once the history.swf is loaded into index.swf, the relative paths within history.swf are failing.

I have a flash movie (let's call it B.swf) that loads an XML file which is located in the same directory to provide some data. This flash movie works fine itself. Now, I've made another flash movie, a main movie (let's call it A.swf), which loads different SWF's in turn, including the aforementioned one B.swf (which now would be located along with the XML file in a subdirectory).
To my surprise, I've checked that now I get an error, as the path I specified for the XML file in B.swf is not valid anymore when B.swf is loaded from A.swf. The relative path from which it's searching for the file is the directory where A.swf is located, not the one where B.swf is located, as happened when this movie was executed standalone.
Is there any way to fix this so that I don't have to change the path I specified in the code and I can use B.swf either way externally loaded or standalone?

let's say I have a file structure like above, I have game.swf loads resource by relative path like "assets/a.jpg". It runs fine on its own. But when I try to load game.swf from main.swf (using relative path again "game/game.swf") it tries to find a.jpg from "/assets/a.jpg" instead of "/game/assets/a.jpg"

View 3 RepliesI create a projector for Linux by executing a swf file in flash player and chosing "create projector" from the file menu. The initial swf loads external resources (using MovieClip Loader.loadClip for example). In the swf this works fine but in the projector this fails. The projector seems to always execute in the users home directory no matter where it is in the file system, thus to find the external resources the path should be relevant to the users home directory. The problem i now have is that my application will be packaged and distributed on a cd rom. At development time i have no idea of the path to where the cd-rom will be mounted in the end users machine.For what motive does the projector execute in the users home directory and not in its real location?
