I'm making an application with SL/flash charts and am wondering if there is a way to test if the browser it's being pushed to supports silverlight or not (ipad/iphone). And if it doesn't, then I can use some kind of AJAX chart in its place.If this is possible to interchange platforms by testing against the host, how would I do this?

I want to use a fallback solution for HTML5 / flash audio players.
I wonder if I can use jQuery to check if HTML5 is supported.
I know there is .support() [URL]..but I'm not sure which would be a bullet proof check.

I understand that Flash supports subtitles with cue points and XML files for flash video. First, I don't know if that would work for a flash animation, and second, I'm looking for a much simpler solution. I am more than willing to manually add and time my subtitles myself on a new layer. What I need help with is finding the simplest way possible to make these subtitles toggle-able. Why? Because I seem to have a serious allergy to ActionScript, and though I can master programs like 3D studio Max and After Effects, I seem to screw up even the simplest of Actionscript jobs.
Is there some way I can make a button that simply makes my subtitles layer invisible across the whole thing? Maybe a command to change the font to a blank one, or to move the titles off screen? There has to be SOME sort of trick that won't require me to drop a load of code into each instance of text. I'm currently using Actionscript 3.0 with Flash CS4. I'd also love to have a pause button that would also stop any music or sound effects that are playing, but after struggling with that for years, I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I did google this subtitles problem, and search flashkit first. Nothing but VIDEO subtitle stuff, and I'm almost positive it wont work the same for a regular animation.

I'm looking for a Flash video player that is able to stream m4v files on all browsers. Example file: [URL]
Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.

I've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)

I am currently thinking about the best multi-platform language to build a multiplayer app with, and I was just wondering if anyone knows if AIR supports multiplayer locally between devices i.e over a LAN or bluetooth? Would I need to run some aspects of the game via a server?
Not to give too much away (of the game idea) but it would be similar to a "Simon" type game, with the only info being passed to each device either a score/amount of moves to beat or other simple piece of data.

I have created a simple SWF-loader in ActionScript 3.0. It loads an SWF from a server and then plays it. While downloading, it displays the "loading" screen.Its main defect is that it can load only one Flash application - the one which it is compiled for. Let's say it's named test1.swf.Is there any way to make the loader support more than one Flash app (for example test2.swf and test3.swf)? I mean by passing external parameters to it and not by creating another loader. Is using Javascript the only way to do it? I don't want my loader to require the Javascript support.

So I just found out the hard way that the path that Flash uses to load external content is based on the HTML it is embedded in, not the SWF itself. This is a problem for me because I have the HTML generated from a PHP file that is in a folder below the SWF. The PHP has other dependencies that would break if I moved it into the same folder as the SWF.So basically now my dev testing and web versions are separated by a folder.Is there a way to change the relative path Flash uses? Or am I going to have to hack things up?

I'm finishing up a flash template that I have used on numerous occasions and it has worked really well. This time however, the nav button that is used to bring up html pages within my site got out of whack. I have checked (and changed) the flash/menu_v8.swf?button=3 relative to the index page I'm trying to link to, but to no avail. I have also gone into Flash and can change the h-link of the TEXT on the button to the corresponding page, but it makes no changes whatsoever.

I've downloaded the tweener.swc from their google project page I create my fla file put it in a folder and put in the same folder the tweener.swc file.
I go to ActionScript settings > Library path > hit the + button > I type the relative path which should be just tweener.swc or not sure but just a dot (.) or / to get all the classes and libraries from the same folder in which the fla is located.
But it says it can't load the swc or my imports don't find the classes.
P.S. With absolute path it works.

I'm building a Flash ad that uses the Neo Sans font, the text that is shows contains the Euro symbol, but I can get the Euro symbol to show. This is how I'm embedding the font:
[Embed(source='C:/WINDOWS/Fonts/NeoSans Medium.otf', fontFamily='_NeoSansMedium', embedAsCFF='false', mimeType="application/x-font", unicodeRange="U+20AC")]
public static var _NeoSansMedium:Class;
As you can see I'm using the unicodeRange to try to show the Euro symbol, but still it is not showing up.
This is how I'm using this embedded font:
var subPriceFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
subPriceFormat.font = "_NeoSansMedium";
subPriceFormat.size = 40;
[Code].....
How can I check that this font supports the Euro symbol, and is the unicodeRange the reason the Euro symbol is not being displayed?
