Flash :: Media Server - Send Video And Audio Data To A Media Server By Using RTMP Protocol
Jul 22, 2010I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.

Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.

Nov 22, 2010I am developing an application in Flash that runs locally and it uses FMS 4.01, locally. I have been using adobe FMS 4.01 for months with no problem. Today I cannot connect to my server and I cannot even play the sample video on the Flash Media Server Start Screen. The sample video for the http plays after I changed the permissions for flash, but rtmp does not play. I have reinstalled the server; 3.5, 4.0 and 4.01, none of them will connect to rtmp. I receive this error on the flash media server start screen that says "the connection timed out".

Flash - AsyncErrorEvent Isn't Working To Catch Errors For RTMP Video Player
Nov 19, 2009I have this streaming video player with an asyncErrorHandler function which isn't working correctly.In Flash player 10 I get no errors, but in Flash player 9 I'll get a popup window with the error message that shows up in my output window when I test on my local machine.
Error #2044: Unhandled AsyncErrorEvent:. text=Error #2095: flash.net.NetConnection was unable to invoke callback onBWDone. error=ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property onBWDone not found on src.display.VideoClass and there is no default value.

Media Server :: Fms3.5 NetConnection.Connect.Rejected - See Video Through Rtmp?
Jun 9, 2010today I install fms3.5 on my pc.
1)I can use rtmp://localhost/vod/mp4:sample2_1000kbps.f4v , it works ok. But when I use rtmp://192.168.8.3/vod/mp4:sample2_1000kbps.f4v, I got Netconnect.connection.rejected. 192.168.8.3 is my fms server IP.
2)When I set fms use port 1935 and 80, rtmp://192.168.8.3/vod/mp4:sample2_1000kbps.f4v works ok on other pc. But using wireshark(Wireshark is a network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows.) I found , the flash player connect 1935 port at first, it send "connect",the server replay "connection.rejected" and "no scope "vod" on this server". Than it connect to 80 port, so I see the video is not send throw 1935 port with rtmp, but throw 80 port with rtmpt. Why? How can I see video throw rtmp?

Media Server :: H264 Rtmp Poor Video Quality Compared To VLC Play
Apr 8, 2011Same file streamed from FMS4 (same on 3.5) with rtmp protocol has very poor quality compared to real file quality. Is there some low level configuration to do on Flash Server? Is the streaming server making some kind of transcoding before sending the stream? Or it can be Flash Player? Tried unchecking "hardware acceleration" but nothing changes. I am on a local gigabit network, so no network bottlenecks. Video seems very pixelated on the edges (not soft/antialiased). These are the file details:

Media Server :: 'Connection Error' Sample RTMP Video Used To Work, Now No Longer Works?
Sep 12, 2010I had FMS 3.5 developer package installed on my server installed about a month ago. I used to be able to go to the /webroot/ page to see the sample RTMP video play and it worked great. Today, I go to view that page and find that it no longer plays. I get "Connection Error. Please preee Play to try again."
Pressing the play button does nothing, so I click the RTMP thumbnail and it reloads ony to give me that same error again. I can click the HTTP thumbnail and see the video play just fine. But, I want RTMP and after over an hour on the phone with my managed hosting tech, we can't find anything wrong.
Here's the thing: I haven't done anything, I have not changed anything, I have not manipulated the server software whatsoever. It just stopped working and gives me "Connection Error."

Media Server :: FMS4 - Change The Default Path (rtmp://serverName/vod/ To Rtmp://serverName/sites/)?
Jan 14, 2011We had FMS2 installed before and the paths to all our videos are like rtmp://ServerName/sites/.... (the default path on FMS2) Now we upgrade to FMS4 and we would like to keep these paths the same because we have many HTMLs that reference these videos. However, the default path on FMS4 is rtmp://ServerName/vod/... Is there a way to change "vod" to "sites"?
I tried to change VOD_COMMON_DIR in fms.ini from /install_dir/webroot/vod to /install_dir/webroot/sites, and also changed the document root in httpd.conf, but rtmp://ServerName/sites/ is still not working.

Mar 21, 2011I'm developing a video player for Pure IP multicast video. I'm using the Multicast Configurator provided with FMS 4 for generating the configuration. This is the manifest file generated:

That's not working. And I have several doubts about it:
1.- It's not working, and I don't know where is the error. I'm not sure what I should add as parameter in GroupSpecifier constructor? GroupSpecs from manifest file?? "com.adobe.pureIPMulticastGroup"??
2.- I've been watching the multicast.as application in FMS4. The only way of publishing multicast streams in FMS4 is using the configurarion from Multicast Config Tool? Is it possible publishing a stream without the GroupsSpec generated by the Config Tool?
3.- If It's mandatory using the config tools for managinf the pure ip multicast. I would like to integrate the Multicast Config Tool in my platform. Is there any place where I could get the code of Multicast Config Tool? Any documentation about how to build it? This component have any flashvars or callbacks that could allow me integrate it in my platform?

May 23, 2011In our company we upgraded to fms 4 and installed the apache that comes bundle up with the installation. We had it configure and now we can play videos in html 5 by using the http protocol. The question I have is, can we use https protocol instead of rtmps? I've been doing a lot of research and I found documentation that says to put a minus sign in front of port 443 (-443) in the fms.ini file in the ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT line but it also says that with this configuration port 443 will only receive rtmps connections. My next step is to put the minus sign in front of the port number and restart the server and just try to establish connection using https to see if i works.

Sep 20, 2011I have installed FMS 4.5 successfully. I am able to run all the videos in the index.html page (filmthos.com/flash), including the HLS video on my Iphone. I was able to setup a video player for rtmp and it works fine, but I am having trouble with setting up video players for HLS and HDS. I am looking for somthing simple.
The source file or located in these location: /hds-vod/mvp5/media/MP.mp4.f4m and /hls-vod/mvp5/media/MP.mp4.m3u8 respectively (the httpd.conf location for both is HttpStreamingContentPath "/opt/adobe/fms/applications"). So obviously I want a simple video player for the HDS that plays flash and another to play HLS and HTML5. The index.html seems to cumbersome to fine out how these players work.

Jul 5, 2011I've placed some of my videos flv and f4v in the vod/media and webroot/vod folders with sample files provided. My files were checked with flvcheck and passed. When I load the embed code into a Dreamweaver HTML file and save the page to the webroot folder as instructed, the provided sample files play in my Firefox browser. However, when I edit the code to insert my files in strict accordance with the instructions concerning codecID and extension, I get the following message on the Browser "We are unable to connect to the content you've requested." My videos are less than 30 minutes in length and were encoded H.264 using Adobe Media Encoder and as I said passed the flvcheck.
