Apr 16, 2012I am having two flash applications on a same web page. Lets say one is already accessing the camera, then if i click on the second application, it will directly start using the camera. I dont want this. I need to check if any other flash application is already accessing the camera in the same web page. Let me tell you that we cant use Camera.getCamera() and check if the camera==null, this wont work, since the camera is available.

Flash Supports Subtitles With Cue Points And XML Files For Flash Video
Jun 24, 2010I understand that Flash supports subtitles with cue points and XML files for flash video. First, I don't know if that would work for a flash animation, and second, I'm looking for a much simpler solution. I am more than willing to manually add and time my subtitles myself on a new layer. What I need help with is finding the simplest way possible to make these subtitles toggle-able. Why? Because I seem to have a serious allergy to ActionScript, and though I can master programs like 3D studio Max and After Effects, I seem to screw up even the simplest of Actionscript jobs.
Is there some way I can make a button that simply makes my subtitles layer invisible across the whole thing? Maybe a command to change the font to a blank one, or to move the titles off screen? There has to be SOME sort of trick that won't require me to drop a load of code into each instance of text. I'm currently using Actionscript 3.0 with Flash CS4. I'd also love to have a pause button that would also stop any music or sound effects that are playing, but after struggling with that for years, I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I did google this subtitles problem, and search flashkit first. Nothing but VIDEO subtitle stuff, and I'm almost positive it wont work the same for a regular animation.

Unfortunately, I can't convert the format since it originates from 3rd party servers. I can't rely on HTML5 video since not all browsers support this format and the encoding it contains.
I've already tried several players such as JW Player, Kaltura, Video JS, Projekktor, and more. Testing them with Firefox and IE, some of them couldn't play the m4v file at all, while others downloaded the entire file before starting to play it.

Jul 8, 2008I am looking for a way to track if a video has already been played on someone's internet browser. I have a still image that comes to life from a video, so I really dont want to use controls but on the flip side the video will always play on launch of the page. I provided a mute button to give some control to stop sound but this is a site that gets a lot of repeat traffic. My client has contacted me saying that they have recieved several emails from users saying that the more they travel to the site the concept becomes less edgy and more annoying. I was wondering if anyone has ideas how to solve the issue I am facing. Is there a way to track cookies, cache, or temp internet files through actionscript?

Not to give too much away (of the game idea) but it would be similar to a "Simon" type game, with the only info being passed to each device either a score/amount of moves to beat or other simple piece of data.

While downloading, it displays the "loading" screen.Its main defect is that it can load only one Flash application - the one which it is compiled for. Let's say it's named test1.swf.Is there any way to make the loader support more than one Flash app (for example test2.swf and test3.swf)? I mean by passing external parameters to it and not by creating another loader. Is using Javascript the only way to do it? I don't want my loader to require the Javascript support.

May 3, 2011I'm building a Flash ad that uses the Neo Sans font, the text that is shows contains the Euro symbol, but I can get the Euro symbol to show. This is how I'm embedding the font:

As you can see I'm using the unicodeRange to try to show the Euro symbol, but still it is not showing up.
This is how I'm using this embedded font:

How can I check that this font supports the Euro symbol, and is the unicodeRange the reason the Euro symbol is not being displayed?

Jul 9, 2010"Contact Form" and "Hit Counter"... I tried the PHP version, but the hosting server does not supports PHP and I can't change this, must do it some other way... but have no idea how to. I heard of "ASP" but no idea how to use that.
Actually, all I need is a way to send an email with one message (the topic and "from" does not even matters... and the email is always the same) from inside the flash movie. And also the hit counter is inside the flash movie. Is this hard or imposible without PHP? I tried one ASP tutorial from google, but in the end... for some reason, the ASP code showed in a new web browser window.

Jun 4, 2008Does the uncompress method of ByteArray only supports level 3 compressed streams? Because I have a valid zlib compressed file but compressed in level 2, and Flash always throws me the 2058 error message.
I've also tried using the DefaultCompressionAlgorithm class for AIR with its two compression methods, but with no success.
Doing some quick tests with python using the same file gets uncompressed with no problems.

Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
