Play A Movie Clip While It Loads?

View 1 RepliesI am creating a Movie Clip player interface. You can click on a thumbnail and load an external SWF. At the end of that movie clip, I would like to load another SWF, it's just a logo animation filler that plays until the next thumbnail is clicked.
I am using this script:var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(myLoader); var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/movie00.swf"); myLoader.load(url);
But it loads the new movie right on top of the old one.How do I get it unload the first one?
I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I have a horizontal menu bar across the bottom of a site I manage, and I would like to load it as the Moive content loads. I have made the menu bar into it's own movie clip, but I cannot work out the code to relate the Menu bar movieclip to the parent movie clip.[url]...
View 9 RepliesI am trying to make what I thought would be a very simple random picture display. I have five movie clips named myClip1, myClip2, etc. All are on the first frame of the timeline. Each has this as a movie clip action:

When I test this the background (an image) displays but nothing else, the movie clips stay transparent. I have tried several variations without any luck.I am mainly an asp and net developer that uses flash periodically so be gentle.
Like the description says. I have six buttons, I want it so when you click any of them the movie clip plays once then when it is finished a specific url loads.

I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...
View 7 RepliesI am trying to create a movie clip that loops and on each loop it loads a random little .jpg banner from a directory. The banners are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg and so on, a script on the first frame of the loop saying

"bannernumber" is a variable from an external text file specifying how many random numbers to cycle through (how many banners), This works just fine and loads up a new banner after each loop cycle. The problem lies in trying to make each banner go to its own url, I have another external text document with variables "click0=url, click1=url etc" where I want the number in each variable to equal the randomnumber variable in flash, then use an on(release){getURL(urlvariable)} function to have it retrieve the url that is somehow in the url variable. Basically, how would I make the urlvariable be equal to the "click0" variable to get the url of the click0 variable into the getURL function? while having the number in the "click0" variable be equal to the randomnum variable?
I would like play head of a movie clip to return to a certain frame of that clip so a MC inside it would loop. I now have: stop(); as the action.

View 4 RepliesI have a flash banner that includes a movie clip of the logo being animated. I want the logo animation to only run at the beginning of the main "movie". Currently I have to find the length of the entire movie (for ex. 500 frames) then put a key frame in at the 500th frame of the logo movie clip. I know there has to be a correct way to do this...Do I add a frame name at the end of the main timeline and somehow in AS in the logo movie clip say "when you reach X goToAndPlay(1);"?
View 1 Repliesi'm trying to play several movie clips, one after the other from one main movie clip.i've got 8 movie clips, "m1.swf", "m2.swf", etc. "m8.swf", and one main movie clip, "play.swf".i've tried using loadMovie, but it only plays the last movie clip. this is what i've got. in the main movie clip, i've put a play button, and the actionscript i have in the button is:

I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:

loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0);
}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
I'm trying to make a flash website that has clickable buttons that will play different movie clips. But I dont know how to make it to just play the movie clip with the button you click without playing all the movie clips on the main timeline.

the problem is that when i click on the first button loads ok but when click on second still showing the first movie clip in the back ,,,,, i have try everything without luck ,,,, i guess i need to keep reading but will like to find an answer to this situation ,
scroll pane loads scroll bars for the movie clip as soon as it loads the movie clip, so there is no scroll bars the movies height and width are one, but after its loaded it changes its size to bigger than the scroll pane, but the scroll bars dont show up because of the size of the movie clip when it was first loaded, can anyone help?

i have a collection of movie clips (mc0, mc1, mc2...etc etc), and when motion is detected on a webcam, one of these clips is shown on the stage.however, for some reason only mc0, mc1 and mc2 are being displayed,and i cannot get mc3, mc4 or any others to be chosen.

I want to play a short movie clip at the begining of this flash game. I'm not sure what is the best way to go about doing this. I was thinking to create the clip on its own seperate layers and then just move my action script keyframe that contains all the code for the game after all the frames needed for the clip to play. Or do i need to make it a seperate .fla and just import it, i'm not sure how to do it.

I have a movie with 2 movie clips on the stage, the first clip is triggered to play on a button click (which works fine) but I want the 2nd clip to start playing when the first ends. I've tried putting MovieClip2.gotoAndPlay(1) script on the last frame of MovieClip1 but I get "1120: Access of undefined property".

The problem is that the movie clip will either skip right to the end and stop if I have a "stop();" put in at the last frame, or it will skip right to the end on the first play, but then loop correctly after that if there's no "stop();".

I have a simulation of a 3d rotation in a movie clip and what I want to do is on button press:
1) check to see if the movie clip is on a certain frame and if it is do nothing
2) if it is less than the 16th frame reverse the movie clip and play until it gets to a certain frame
3 if it is more than the 16th frame play until it gets to a certain frame

I bought the quiz from FlashDen and have been able to modify it pretty well except for the part in bold. I've added a movie clip that's suppose to play if the answer is right. I have a stop(); on the movie clip's first frame. I added a label to it's second frame called "coindrop".why the clip won't play?
