I imported two projects in Flex Builder 3 (A and B). Those two projects A and B are in the same folder and in mxml file which is located in A/src I have

this relative path is correct, but Flex Builder keeps showing message: "Problem finding external stylesheet: ../../B/b/assets/b.css"

I have a Flex module created in Flash Builder 4 as a swf file. I am trying to load and run in within a Flash application. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.

The problem is that content_txt.maxscroll always returns 1, but I know from testing that the actual value is 121. content_txt.htmlText .maxscroll, content_txt.text.maxscroll, content_txt._text.maxscroll, all return undefined. How can I get an accurate value of maxscroll for this text area? I need it to get a custom scroll bar to work correctly.

I'm loading external font swf's, when using the textFormat class, the fonts come through perfectly and I am able to style them as I need. However I would like in time to move over to an external stylesheet, mainly because I would like to use both methods depending on the type of projects im doing at the time.
When I try to use the stylesheet and call the font that is needed nothing comes through, I have done a trace on the fontClass and get undefined for the fontName, fontStyle and fontType. I am only using a simple example at the moment as below

I know the stylesheet is working because I can manipulate the colour and size when embed fonts is not on the textfield. But im unable to use the desired externally loaded font.
I'm trying to implement way so that stylesheets can be loaded on demand: Either the default stylesheet is used, which is compiled into the application file, or a remote stylesheet (.swf) is loaded if the default styles should not be used. (each stylesheet has embedded images)
So what I would like to do is:
1) Embed the stylesheet but not load it right away. Instead, store a reference to it inside a variable. (or simply a path string?)
2) Load the requested stylesheet, for example using StyleManager
My way of tackling the problem was like this:

I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?

Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.

This bug is hard to describe, but easily reproduced with the bottom code. Just copy, paste, and compile+run in Flex 3 and you'll see the problem.

I have a few styles that I want to apply to a slider. I'm aware of the MXML method of defining a mx:Style tag

Instead of doing it this way I want to define all the styles in a style sheet. I then want to define my slider in a .as file (not an mxml file) and apply the stylesheet to it. Something like the following is what I'm after

There are three modes to link an SWC library to a flex application: "Merged into code", "External" and "RSL". I understand what is "RSL", but I don't understand what is "External"."RSL" works just fine for me, without any code changes. However, External doesn't work for me. Although my application starts, the classes in the SWC set to External are never found.What is the meaning of "External" if it is not "RSL" ? How do I make use of that ?

View 1 RepliesI'm looking for recommendations for a spreadsheet-like input facility to sit in an ASP MVC environment.
The client currently has a large number of very complex interlinked shared spreadsheets (which they are effectively running 90% of their core business from) for collecting and processing information. They wish to move this to a web application and require ASP MVC. They realise that they will not be able to display as much information on screen as they do currently with their spreadsheets, so a 40 x 60 grid should suffice in most cases. Of this they'll be a limited number of cells for data entry that will immediately update other cells in the grid using various spreadsheet-like formula. The grid must be AJAX enabled.
The quality of the user-interface is of primary concern here. As inevitably there will be a certain amount of resistance to move to database/web (and this project is a pilot anyway) the system must be as slick as possible. Almost as important is ease of implementation - the final system will be quite large so the quicker it is possible to configure the grid the better.
Either Open Source or commercial would be fine. HTML/Javascript, Silverlight and Flex implementations can all be considered.I initially asked a similar question a year ago (it's taken that long for the client to agree the project) but I'm sure options have changed since then and our environment is now better defined.
I am building a userinterface for some industrial instruments which output some data to a XML spreadsheet. This is the only way I can retreave these data's from the instruments.

I am creating a simple program which writes a string to a spreadsheet when it is copied to the system clipboard. Everything works great, except that if the text copied has multiple paragraphs and therefore has returns in it, when written to the file, they get interpretted as going to the next row of the spreadsheet. The, instead of writing all the text to one cell, the paragraphs get split up into multiple cells on multiple rows. How does one format the string so that paragraphs are still sepearated by a space, but it will write all of the text in one cell?

The project access a web server to retrieve data using JSON.
I'm trying to load a bunch (about 100) of images into memory, so I can display them at various times. Originally I had simply embedded them, but that of course resulted in the swf file being larger than I wanted. So now I'm trying to change it to load them in the background because they aren't needed immediately.There are probably plenty of problems with this. The current on is that I'm getting an error that says 'TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "foo.jpg" to Class.'
I've been googling this awhile, assuming loading an external image is a common thing. That's where I got the Loader and URLRequest code, but I'm clearly missing something. Maybe it's due to my goofy looping logic.Here's the class so far
