Does anyone know of a decent tutorial showing this? I'd like to have the user roll over a button, then start some streaming video. Either they roll over the actual video, or just an invisible button that's placed over the video. View 1 RepliesI've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
View 2 RepliesI want to create a button that toggles but has a roll over, roll out and click animation. Anyone willing to point me in the direction I need to be so that I can achieve this. I can create the roll over and roll out animation for the buttons but then how could I toggle between the two buttons. Ultimately this is for a start and stop situation. I want when I roll over the button for it to have a transition then click and it toggles to the alternate button with animation. I have been tackling this now for a week and with no success. So far I have found ways to toggle but loose the animation or vice verse.

I try to use "Adding Buttons to Movie Clips" method, ie, one MC with two layers, an amimation MC (tween from small to big and then big to small) and a button. Add script as follows:

i am making a quiz. My problem is that once the user completes the quiz and wants to start again the quiz is already on the last question. How do i make it so that once the user clicks start again the questions and answers arrays start from the beginning, sort of reset themselves.

View 4 RepliesI have 3 buttons going around in a circle, in the middle of this circle I want a specific image to fade in for each button when you roll across it then fade out when you move off the button. I also want the button itself to change colour slightly when you roll across it. I've not had much look so far without the use of actionscript, but even with using it I'm not getting very far, I also seem to have a problem where once I have an image appear on the rollover of abutton that the image becomes part of the button, ie instead of the image just appearin when you roll over the button it appears when you roll over where the image should be appearing.

I have a custom video player that loads videos from an external xml file. It uses all actionscript to control the video using the attatchVideo(ns).
At present the video starts playing as soon as the video opens, I would like the video to only start playing after the user clicks the play button.
What is the actionscript I need to achieve this?
* all the actionscript for all buttons etc. is on one layer called actions. Videos are external not on layers.
I have a flash page that loads a video. Under that I have a button tcalled "Audio Demos" that opens a pop up with an audio player.
The problem is that the video keeps playing, so I need some code that stops the video when the user clicks on the "Audio Demos" button.

I am trying to create a little website in flash.. I have some video that plays automatically once the user goes to that section (I am using frame labels to navigate from section to section of the site). But, when the user clicks another button to go to a different page, the video is still playing because I hear it..How can I stop the video from playing once another button gets clicked?

View 3 RepliesI've got a page laid out that houses a nightly live webstream of music at a venue. Every night (except Sunday) the stream turns on from 8pm-2am Eastern Standard Time. Some nights, I notice there is nobody watching the stream, yet the stream plays everyday no matter what. In the interest of saving bandwidth per month, I'm trying to figure out how to only stream if somebody is watching.So basically the camera would be recording locally, and when someone connects to the website something tells the server to start broadcasting. If the person leaves, the server stops broadcasting. Has anyone ever tried doing this? I'm using Influxis for my media streaming and they've assured me I can execute server side scripts.
View 12 RepliesI'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

I've freshly installed the FSM demo on a redhat linux box, and have everything working. From that start screen running on Local Host, I click the "Play video (HTTP)" and that video of a train shows up. Cool. But when I click the link above it ("Play Video (RTMP)") I get an error message: "Connection Error. press Play to try again." and no matter how many times I hit play, I get that same message. The Dynamic stream doesn't work either, and the Interactive sucessfully displays webcam feeds, but doesn't show the "Play Live Stream" button thing. Is there anything special you have to do to get the RTMP stuff working? Some special command or server you have to run?
Would firewalls intefere with things (I'm pretty sure there isn't one on the machine, but I'm flailing wildly here) or would permissions mess things up? I'm completely lost ^_^;; I guess I should also add that there doesn't seem to be any log files. I'm looking under the server install directory, and there isn't even a "log" folder. There isn't one under Apache, either. It confuses me. So far all I can find on the internet is instructions to look at the log files...but if they aren't there... Am I just looking in the wrong places, or are they just not being generated yet? I did a tcpdump with wireshark, and the web app IS pinging port 1935 (for RTMP), but the packets are failling the checksum and are refusing to be reassembled because of that. Is this making sense to ANYBODY?
I am looking to broadcast live video and need a camera that is better than a simple webcam. It looks like they used to make video cameras that would register as webcams, but stopped making them.If you wanted to broadcast an event live, what would be a good camera to use?
View 5 RepliesI am streaming flash video and the dimension of the video is 1280 by 720 (same size as the stage)
but just before the video streams, there is a quick flash of the video (about 320px by 240px) at the top corner of the stage, and then it plays the videos at the correct size (which is 1280 by 720) .... a quick flash is the best way I can explain it.

However, I�d like there to be a Fullscreen button on the playback component, which will allow the user to toggle the video fullscreen.I cant, for the life of me, figure out how to do this with various settings�it should be easy! I need to produce a photo review show (basically, a photo slide show), which incorporates still photography, and numerous video clips. We will have music playing in the background (not on the timeline - in the actionscript). The full presentation will run automatically - no user interaction, and therefore, I need the background music to automatically fade out when the video starts, and then fade back in when the video ends.
1. Is Flash CS5 the correct software to do this in?

I need a flash video player for our public site where users will share videos.The video usage model is similar to youtube as far as video part is concerned.Users will upload and share videos. Users will browse and play all shared videos as well.The videos will be streamed from the server and our app is a .NET/C#/JQuery application.We have 3 options:
1) Either buy a commercial flash player
2) Customize a open source player or use free player and customize its gui
3) Develop our own (time consuming and last resort)
