I am reading dynamic data from the MySQL using JSP and it's forwarding the details in the form of XML to the Flex. I would like to bind this XML data to the datagrid. Am able to bind the data if the datagrid has only one column but don't know how to bind data which contains 2-3 columns.

I have a form that consists of two data grids and a button. Datagrid 1, "myStaticDataGrid", has values I have added for the user to select from. I want the button's click event to send the current selection of myStaticDataGrid to the second datagrid, "myDataGrid". I have been able to accomplish this if I use a text box and a datagrid but I am having trouble finding the right syntax to grab the selection data from myStaticDataGrid.This is my attempt using the two datagrid approach:

I have a DataGrid component that I would like to update every 5 seconds. As rows are being added to this DataGrid I noticed that every update causes it to reset the scroll bar position to the top. How can I manage to keep the scroll bar at its previous position?

In order to make this easier on the eye I have a header label and then a datagrid within the repeater.Whilst this works perfectly, because the dataprovider for the datagrid comes from an array in the repeaters dataprovider, it is causing the following warning:Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to "report"The warning is for this line:

I have arrays of dynamic text field that took data from an XML file from the database. Everything went well, except for the part that, when I insert a <a> </a> tag inside the XML file, the dynamic text alignment and lines went all weird. I wonder what's the problem with that...

I am trying to bind a datagrid item to a combox, so that when the user selects the item in the datagrid the form displays the selected data for editing, however one of my items is a combobox using a dataprovider.
I would like the item selected in the datagrid to match the selected item in the combobox, this part is fine however if my datagrid item is null then I cannot get the combox to set the selected index to -1?(the same happens if you use the CRUD wizard in Flex builder 3 for ColdFusion)I am using the following code for my custom combobox:

View 5 RepliesIf user change the value of the TextInput, then click refresh button to retrieve the data model from backend again, the GUI value will not change back. Re-binding not happen, Since the value of data model not changed, no propertyChanged event fired.In this case, I must Programmatically set the model value to the GUI after data refreshing done.I know bi-directional binding can solve this problem(when user change value on GUI, set the new value to data model immediately). But sometimes I cannot use bi-directional binding, for example, the data model is a int, but user input a non-int value, I cannot set the value to data model. So the value in data model do not change, when refresh data, rebinding still not happen.
This will make the data binding useless. How to resolve this?I put pseudo-code here for now, I will put real code later:1. retrieve a data model from server, via blazeds or something else.2. bind the model to a TextInput on GUI.3. user change the TextInput text.4. User click a refresh button, triger retrieve the model value again.5. Now since the model value do not change, no PropertyChanged event fired.6. GUI value still is the user's input, not the value from the model. can clear the model value before set the velue back, make re-binding happen.(but sometimes you do not know how to clean the model value, take int for example, you may do not know the original value and happen set the same value). I would like to display their names, organizations, etc... I assume a label would be best, binding the appropriate XML node to the text attribute of a label? I'm not sure, but that sounds the most reasonable. I can't seem to find and examples of doing this in AS3 however. Does anyone know how I would accomplish this task?

View 1 RepliesI have a table (session) in a database which has almost 72,000 rows. I extract those rows with the help php+mysql but when the result is returned to the HTTPService, i need to wait for some 32 seconds before the all the rows start appearing in the DataGrid at once.
Question Is there any way by which DataGrid may start displaying data one by one while the application may extract next rows in parallel. Or that the DataGrid may show data in chunks of hundreds. Like when application starts, it may show first 400 enteries in DataGrid, then the next 400 hundred are extracted until all the 72,000 rows are extracted? Or can i involve threading such that one thread may be responsible for displaying data in datagrid while the other, executing in parallel may be responsible for extracting next data from database?

I have a small flex datagrid. The dataProvider is an xmlList. I have two columns, userList and user permissions. The user permissions column as checkboxes. The values for the checkbox are stored as 0 and 1 in mySQL. While returning it from PHP, I am converting them to true or false. Its returning the values correctly to the frontend.
But inside the itemrenderer, the checkbox is not being set to true or false.
Either everything is true or everything is false.

selectedIndex=0;
Right after that I call another function that tries to display the selected item across a couple of labels. The problem is nothing loads in the labels unless I run the functions twice. I'm guessing its some sort of data race problem where the item hasn't been selected by the time the function that displays the items in labels runs. How can I get the item to be selected before the next function runs.
I want to write the bulk of data into xml file ,the data coming from the backend(mysql) using cgi by httpservice, read the xml file and bind it into list. can anyone send the sample code for this?

The Column's dataprovider is a Number value that gets updated via Binding.Now, without an item renderer the cell displays the correct values.If I set an item renderer, I can't access the values in this renderer.My renderer looks like this, so nothing really do here (for now) but to trace the value, but the value is always NaN.

_listItems is an ArrayList with instances of a model class, which has (amongst others) a property called change of type Number.
I have a DataGrid whose dataProvider is an Array of int Arrays (each with different lengths). Since each row has variable size (and I want to display all the data), I decided to extend DataGridColumn and overwrite the itemToLabel function to be able to display the data. The problem is that I also need to display the data differently depending on the int value.
I believe the only solution is to write an itemRenderer, but the only input the itemRenderer.set(data) function receives is the entire int Array. I believe I need either the exact string returned by itemToLabel or the column index of the cell the itemRenderer is for (to basically do the same parsing I implemented in itemToLabel).

how to send data from a flash to a database and how the receive it aswell. Im presuming you pass the data from the flash to a php file to the database when sending and call the data using a php file to the database aswell. What im trying to do is just have a button that will increment a number in a database by 1 and then display that information on a different Frame within the flash later.
