Oct 27, 2009I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:

Flex :: Store ColorPicker Value In A Variable And Bind The Variable To A TextInput
Dec 11, 2009I would like to store a hex colorPicker value in a variable and then cast the value of the var backout to a textInput. The textInput is just to see witch hexcolor i have choosen.
thus meaning seeing 0x000000 in the textInput.
what i've done now is pretty simple i have bound the flex colorPicker directly to my textInput. but i want to store the value from the colorPicker in a var first and than spit it backout to the textInput to see the value that i have picked.
When i pick a color value that begins with the number 0 it drops the 0's at the beginning of the number and only spits out the numbers greater than 0. (000033 becomes 33, FF0000 stays FF0000). I want to catch the whole value or write some kind a function to figure out how many 0's got dropped and concatenate it together with 0x. Store that all into a var and bind it to the flex TextInput.

Flex :: Data Binding Re-bind When Data Model Not Change, Possible?
Nov 4, 2011If user change the value of the TextInput, then click refresh button to retrieve the data model from backend again, the GUI value will not change back. Re-binding not happen, Since the value of data model not changed, no propertyChanged event fired.In this case, I must Programmatically set the model value to the GUI after data refreshing done.I know bi-directional binding can solve this problem(when user change value on GUI, set the new value to data model immediately). But sometimes I cannot use bi-directional binding, for example, the data model is a int, but user input a non-int value, I cannot set the value to data model. So the value in data model do not change, when refresh data, rebinding still not happen.
This will make the data binding useless. How to resolve this?I put pseudo-code here for now, I will put real code later:1. retrieve a data model from server, via blazeds or something else.2. bind the model to a TextInput on GUI.3. user change the TextInput text.4. User click a refresh button, triger retrieve the model value again.5. Now since the model value do not change, no PropertyChanged event fired.6. GUI value still is the user's input, not the value from the model. can clear the model value before set the velue back, make re-binding happen.(but sometimes you do not know how to clean the model value, take int for example, you may do not know the original value and happen set the same value). Or I can manually set the model value to GUI. But both are not good looking.

Jul 8, 2010In my Flex app I am using a repeater to show a report on my database data. On this report the user can "drill-down" on the data to show more detail. In order to make this easier on the eye I have a header label and then a datagrid within the repeater.Whilst this works perfectly, because the dataprovider for the datagrid comes from an array in the repeaters dataprovider, it is causing the following warning:Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to "report"The warning is for this line:

Feb 23, 2011I'm working on a flash cards application and am using an ArrayCollection of Objects to store each cards individual data. When the user click the 'save' button, the text from the two textAreas and the 'title' textinput are stored in the AC as one object with .title, .side1 and .side2 properties that contain the text from the flash card. I have made a List in a separate class I want to have display the title of each card the user has created, but after days of researching and looking around, I still cannot get the display to list the titles.

Flex :: Data Cannot Be Grouped Outside App And Return ArrayCollection
Sep 23, 2011I have flat data in my app which I will need to group, summarize, and count as I normally would with a sql query. For this project though, it must be done in the flex app. I need to figure out how to group my data by day or month using a datatime field in my Arraycollection, then appropriately count or summarize data in other fields. I've used Groupingcollections before, but only when binding to hierarchical controls (like AdvancedDataGrid and Tree), but I need a resulting ArrayCollection with the grouped and summarized data. Basically, I'm trying to access my AC like a sql table (GROUP BY MONTH(datetime), COUNT, COUNT(DISTINCT(), etc.) and I'm unsure how to do it.

Flex :: Make Changes To An ArrayCollection Bound To Data Grid Live?
Feb 21, 2010I have an ArrayCollection bound to an editable DataGrid, another component needs to know when the ArrayCollection changes (as a result of changes in the DataGrid) so it can also update itself, so is listening to the COLLECTION_CHANGE event of the ArrayCollection.
The problem is that the DataGrid only updates the ArrayCollection when the row being edited losses focus. This is not good for my app as a user could edit a column on a row and not click elsewhere on the table for a long time (causing the row to lose fucus), therefore the changes won't have propagated to the other parts of the application.
How can I make the data grid inform the ArrayCollection of a change every time there is a keyup event on a text input instead of every time a row looses focus?

Each Object with three attributes:CustomerID, Income and DateMy goal is to chart this data for each customer (or a couple together) in a Income by Date LineChart display. Selection of customers is done with ArrayCollection filters.Data is fetched from an SQL database, however, each customer has some data points missing.f there was zero income on August 8, 2010 there will be no entry for that.Charting the ArrayCollection as is, is misleading because there is no indication of the missing data points.One way to solve this is to artificially add zero points for the missing dates for each customer. However, this would explode the data set (and impact performance).

The problem lies in the fact, that when the ArrayCollection _data is filtered (because the Checkbox "Even" is set), then the 2nd loop in the test case (for adding new items) adds items (the "35") again and again - because it's filtered and thus not visible.

In this component, I use commitProperties() to implement my logic.
I use Cairngorm and the 'questions' is in the model and hence it's defined as a source for data binding.
When the 'questions' ArrayCollection's size changes elsewhere in the application, it is not invoking the setter method in the component that is destination for the data binding.

I am not able to bind the Bindable variable dbl to my textInput. Using the debugger, I am able to see that the result is assigned successfully to variable dbl, but it is not able to bind it to the text of view1. I see a NaN displayed in the text of view1.
