Flex :: Creating New ArrayCollection To Generate Unique Variable Name
May 11, 2011
How do I create a new arraycollection that can generate a unique variable name? Like:
AC+nu as in AC1:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC2:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC3:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC4:ArrayCollection
nu++;
One method I could think is to loop through the Array objects and for each object check and push unique appName entries into another Array. Is there any better solution available?
generating a unique number of some sort, in Flash that varies from computer to computer, sort of like an IP Address.And is there a way of doing it all within Flash, no php!!. This file is using .asp on the server side, but I'd rather stay away from that (though reply if you know how to do it that way), plus I'm curious if there is a way to do it in AS2.
Im making a game where there are 25 tiles with corresponding questions when you click them. One of the tiles must blink at a time, once the blinking tile was selected it will be hidden and the question will appear. If he answered wrong, the game is over else we will select another blinking tile after answering correctly (but the previous tile is hidden now). So how can i make the tiles blink or change its color using AS? And how i will select the available tiles, where some tiles are already disabled/hidden (already answered)? here is my pseudocode: (im not yet familiar with AS2 OOP concepts so im will use movie clips here & array to save the selected tiles)
select unique random no. from 0 - 25
check if it is in the array1.length not 0 && generated rand. no. is not in the array1
I need accessing a value in my arrayCollection in Flex 3. var f:String; I need to access the photoFilePath where series = f. So if f=2, then I need /pics/my2.png So, pseudo code: myAc.(series="f").photoFilePath <mx:ArrayCollection id="myAC"> <mx:Object label="Label 1" series="1" photoFilePath="/pics/my1.png" pageTitle="First"/> <mx:Object label="Label 2" series="2" photoFilePath="/pics/my2.png" pageTitle="Second"/> </mx:ArrayCollection>
I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:
I have a for loop that runs depending on the length of an XML file. What I want to do is create a unique text field for each run through of the loop, and give it it's own position on the stage, and finally assign it the text from an external text file that is specified in the XML file. Everything I know how to do except creating the textfields.
Quote:
for(var i:int = 0; i < blogXMLList.length(); i++) { var txtHolder:TextField = new TextField(); txtHolder.x = textX;
[Code].....
This code creates only one Text Field, but then replaces it's text with new text with each run through.
I've just created a draft animation demonstration of a unique analogue clock [URL]. What I would like to achieve is to also have a digital clock just below it. So when you roll over the analogue clock, the animation starts for both clocks. When you roll off the animation stops leaving the time displayed exactly the same on both clocks. So basically both the clocks run simultaneously (speeded up). How I might achieve this?
I want to create object instances based on user input but I can't figure out how to get a unique variable name for each instance (I want to be able to get at and manipulate them later). In other languages I would usually just use an eval() function to pull this off.
[Code]....
Code: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property charlie through a reference with static type poundConuter. poundConuter.mxml
I'm currently making a TicTacToe game to help build my Flash experience and I've come across an issue. I'll try and explain what everything is doing in my code thus far. I know it's a lot of code for a forum post, but I don't want to leave anything out as someone may have a really nice way to work with this.
Code: this will be switched to a user defined value (1 or 2), depending on which person the user decides should go first. currently it is set up for the 2nd player to go first
new _global.whosTurn(); _global.whosTurn = 2;
//this sets all cells DISABLED so, at the beginning of the game, any cell is selectable cell1_isUsed = false; cell2_isUsed = false;[code].....
How to create a dynamic ArrayCollecton instance that use unque naming: ac1, ac2..ac999 whether user click a button. Without having to use hardcode variable name.
am trying to load xml and make button for its length, and try to make function for each button i have i make buttons and i give them a unique name , but i can't make function for every one?here is the code
///////////////////////////// var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();var my_Arr:Array= new Array();var arr_posX:Array =new Array();//= ["350","350","350","350"]var arr_posY:Array=new Array();//= ["80","120","160","200"]xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, showXML);xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("Models.xml"));function showXML(e:Event):void { XML.ignoreWhitespace = true; var songs:XML = new XML(e.target.data);

What I'm trying to do is setup a function that shoots through a set of buttons within a subset and creates click code for these buttons.
THe three variables are the identifiers for the actual keyframe i wish to jump to, the movieclip in which i want to perform the action and the actual button to go to the right frame.
Presently the problem I'm having is that the variables aren't stored when the onRelease functions are created, so they all are just calling the LAST variables declared.
Here's a sample of the code I currently have
Code: //function to load canvas/acrylic function setSwatches(mySwatchCount:Number, myContainer:String) {
I encountered a rather irritating problem yesterday. I wrote a class. The class has got 1 variable of the type :Array. its a public variable.On the scene i have 2 movieclips which are connected to my class through its linkage in the library.My problem is that even though the instance-variable (the array) is supposed to be unique for the instance only it gets overwritten for every new instance i create.for example. if i assign the first instance's array 2 values (1, 1)and the do the same with the second but here i change the values to (2,2) then when i check my first instance it has got the same values as the second instance...that is (2,2). [code]
I have some simple function in Flex in which I would like to send one of my variables to all the components used in my app... The problem is that there is lots of components in my app, and I'm not sure how to reference to my component's id... Basically, is there an easier way to do this;
private function preloadStuff():void{ // populating of bulkLoader var var preloaderItemsList:XMLListCollection = new XMLListCollection(preloaderItems.children()); var item:XML;
how would you go about creating a random equation? i would like to randomly generate two individual numbers, a random operator (out of +, -, *, /) between these numbers and then the user would input a number to answer the equation... any thoughts on this?
Is there a way to set up an unseen variable in flash sort of like keeping score?The best way I can describe it is from the BASIC language I used to use back in the day, where on a click you can make x=x+1, or x=x-3, or whatever depending on the button you click on.And then it would display the score (i.e. whatever is the current value of x) in the corner? give me a link or the actual code you would assign to a single button that will add or subtract to a displayed score in the corner.
I want to generate a variable number of random numbers less than 16 with no duplicate numbers
Ive posted the fla, and what i'm doing is generating a random number and putting it into an array then using a for loop to cycle through the array for each new random number to check if its already there. if it is, then i want to regenerate that number.
if you test the fla you'll see that all i get in my array is some lovely zero's and i sort of know why this is, but don't know how to stop it.
I have a advanced datagrid and populating some data by using arraycollection. And i am filtering the arraycollection, the arraycollection index got changed.
Is there a way to get a unique machine-specific system ID in a Flex application running in a browser, so that is can be used for example to determine if the machine is properly licensed to run the application?
I have a BarChart that compares different user interactions with a program we have. Obviously some users will have multiple sessions and depending on what the filtering is, a single user may have multiple entries displayed at once.
The problem comes in with the Category Axis, which uses the username as the categoryField. This is fine and displays nicely when there are no repeats of the username in the dataset. If there are repeats, though, it will put a new entry in the Y axis for each instance of the username, but all of the data is rendered on the first label in the Y axis.
Is there any way to keep the username as the category axis, but have the BarChart display the corresponding data in the correct spots?
I'm using a localconnection to allow communication between an actionscript 2 swf and an actionscript 3 swf.Localconnection objects share a global namespace across a user's pc.So, this means, a user can fire up my flash app in one browser, and submit commands, back and forth, which is what i want. But the user can also fire up another browser, and all commands sent to my application will be handled by the first application if its still loaded in the first browser.When I make the LocalConnection, I specify an id, but the id must be known to the actionscript 2 swfs, and therein I find a problem. I don't know how to let the actionscript 2 swfs know what the unique id is.
I am building a tabbed interface for switching between various similar layers. Each layer will have a number of graphs. By dragging with the mouse the graphs can be rearranged or even moved between layers. My question is, is it best practice to register a unique mediator for each layer that keeps track of the layers content / organization, or should i keep track of it all with one central mediator.some considerations:
the layer contents and organization will be saved(in a db) so that it can be restored when a user comes back to the app.the layers themselves are functionally identical.the user can add and remove layers at will.
