i would be glad if anyone can answer this.
i have an actionscript class as follows:

I would like to store a hex colorPicker value in a variable and then cast the value of the var backout to a textInput. The textInput is just to see witch hexcolor i have choosen.
thus meaning seeing 0x000000 in the textInput.
what i've done now is pretty simple i have bound the flex colorPicker directly to my textInput. but i want to store the value from the colorPicker in a var first and than spit it backout to the textInput to see the value that i have picked.
When i pick a color value that begins with the number 0 it drops the 0's at the beginning of the number and only spits out the numbers greater than 0. (000033 becomes 33, FF0000 stays FF0000). I want to catch the whole value or write some kind a function to figure out how many 0's got dropped and concatenate it together with 0x. Store that all into a var and bind it to the flex TextInput.
This is what i've got.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Module xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="vertical"
[Code].....
I've developed a component which is a combination of a few items (canvas, labels, etc...) but when I try to bind it to a variable such as: {stationXML.getItemAt(1).AAA.@value}, it doesnt work. Before I combined all the items in a component, they were all in the main MXML file at which time they worked. Not sure if it matters, but the "stationXML" arraycollection variable is declared inside the file "Station.as".
View 2 RepliesI would like to bind a variable from my ActionScript to a property of a component that is in a ItemRender. But I always get this error:
1120: Access of undefined property currentRoom.
Here is my code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:solutionItems="com.barco.components.ControlRoomConfigurator.solutionItems.*">

I have a boolean variable, projectsLoaded that is set to false when my application loads. As i'm sure you can imagine, when the final project module loads, I set the variable to be true. Is there a way I can trigger a series of functions to run once that variable is set to true?
View 1 RepliesI need accessing a value in my arrayCollection in Flex 3.
var f:String;
I need to access the photoFilePath where series = f. So if f=2, then I need /pics/my2.png
So, pseudo code: myAc.(series="f").photoFilePath
<mx:ArrayCollection id="myAC">
<mx:Object label="Label 1" series="1" photoFilePath="/pics/my1.png" pageTitle="First"/>
<mx:Object label="Label 2" series="2" photoFilePath="/pics/my2.png" pageTitle="Second"/>
</mx:ArrayCollection>
How do I create a new arraycollection that can generate a unique variable name? Like:
AC+nu as in AC1:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC2:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC3:ArrayCollection
AC+nu as in AC4:ArrayCollection
nu++;
I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" >
<mx:Script>
[code].....
[code]...
Here the method clientMonitor() is called on creationcomplete() from the main application.
I am not able to bind the Bindable variable dbl to my textInput. Using the debugger, I am able to see that the result is assigned successfully to variable dbl, but it is not able to bind it to the text of view1. I see a NaN displayed in the text of view1.
I have this code:
for each(var tool in tools){
tool.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, function(){
trace(tool); //Always the last tool
});
}
How do I bind the value of tool to the function so that it's accessible on callback?
having an issue with a variable set. It is set as a string to default "no" on the very first frame of my movie, as follows:
var myaccess:String;
myaccess="no";
Within my movie, there is an object. When this object is pressed, it is to change the _root.myaccess="yes"; I am tracing the variable within the movie clip and it shows me: I do not understand why it is changing my string definitition from "no" to false. Because of this, my variable does not seem to change to "yes' on object (button) pressed.
I'm sure it's possible I'm just writing it wrong. Can anybody clue me in the correct way of writing it? I get compiler errors this way...
ActionScript Code:
for(b=0; b<=15; b++)
{
var ["ping" + b]:Boolean = false;
}
I have a movieclip and within it is a bit of actionscript and a couple of different movieclips to make it function like the button on a ball point pen (you click it and it stays clicked until you click it again).
var booleanClick:Boolean = false;
var colorTransform:ColorTransform = optBox.transform.colorTransform;
optHitState.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickHandler);
function onClickHandler(myEvent:MouseEvent){
[Code].....
I don't want to get deeper into this monster of a project without making sure this is working first. Is my boolean working and just my trace statements aren't worded right or is my method to change the boolean wrong?

have movie clips on the stage that I have addressed as buttons[code]...
For some reason when I call the select function the variable flips from false, to true and then back to false again which causes the animation im trying to play to hitch and stop 1/2 way through.
I have used the exact same script on other objects in the file but with different instance names and they ALL work fine, this is the only one I can't get working. I have tried removing all other scripts to isolate this one but it makes no difference.
i am trying to assign boolean variables to my script that i have made, basically i have never done it before so i have no idea how to add them to my script. i am controlling movieclips using alpha levels so when a key is pressed it makes a mc =100 and when the key is released it takes the alpha back down to 0. My mc work fine along with the keypresses, its just i need more control over what has already come up.
I want to use the boolean variables so that they control the mc and stop them from playing after a certain amount of times the key is pressed. here is some of my script:
stop();
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (Key.isDown(65)) {
trace("It's an A");
[Code].....
Instead of this code:
var bomb1:Boolean = false;
var bomb2:Boolean = false;
var bomb3:Boolean = false;
Would it be possible to use an array like this? var bomb:Array = [false,false,false]; Or would it be better in another way? Isn't it necessary to declare the variable/array to be boolean or number if it would be that type in the index? Could I also use an array for the movieclips like bomb[0].visible = true; ? But how di I declare that array?
I have an variable of type boolean and I want to fire event when I change the value of this variable, how can I do that in AS3.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to switch a boolean variable to true after a mouse click on a movieclip.
I want an animation to continue after the user has clicked both btn1 and btn2.
After researching this topic it appears that changing a variable inside a function will only effect code within that function and not the code outside of it - therefore my main Btn1Var and Btn2Var do not update to flase.
ActionScript Code:
stop()
var btn1Var:Boolean = false;
var btn2Var:Boolean = false;
[Code].....
Is there an easy way to change the original variable for each button to true after being clicked?
In Flex I want to create XML variable like this but parser complains about CDATA in publisher tag:
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
private var myXML:XML = <book>[code].....
How do I pass xml text with CDATA into XML variable being in MXML Script?
I have an XML object like this[code]...
but how to add the id attribute as the 'data' field of the dropdown so when an item is selected, it returns that field?
I'm binding an array of items to a data grid using ItemRenderer. I use the data variable to control the bindable data. I also have someComponentVariable that need be inserted into every row but its declared at the component scope, so the data grid doesn't seem to reconize it (compile error). How can I use this variable (someComponentVariable) inside the ItemRenderer?

The variable currentIndex is declared globally and initialized with a certain value say '0'. How do I hold the value of currentIndex which is incremented every time the function is called? In the given code, every time the function is called, the value is reinitialized.
function nextSong(e:Event):void
{
sc.stop();

The problem with flex applications is that a user can download it and run it on his local machine or possibly host it on another site. Is it possible to lock a flex application to a domain name to prevent such acts?

The labels text will be "Property", but if object.property is changed, the label isn't updated. Is there any way around this?
I am having a table at the backend, so when a query is asked at the frontend for an object, all the tabs in the front end should be populated with the details of the query object. I am able to pick the query object at the back end , but i dont know how to bind that object across all the tabs in flex. I am getting an error type coercion failed, cannot convert X to mx:Array collection
View 1 RepliesWhen the XMLListCollection is updated in the DataGrid, I want it to add the XML (bind it) into the Model. How would I do this? Or if not possible, how would I manually add XML into the Model?
This is a rough example of what I'm trying to do. Adding data to the DataGrid works fine; it just doesn't go into the Model when sending to the HTTPService.
<mx:Model id="model">
<root><colors>{collection}</colors></root>
</mx:Model>
<mx:XMLListCollection id="collection" />

We can auto-generate flex-confix xml file from flash-builder so to provide users that want to compile project on there own would be capable of doing such thing with out buying FB. So we use something like -dump-config slotConfig.xml as flex compiler argment. This generates a file for us... with lots of detailed comments like this one I generated from that project:
<flex-config>
