I have a datagrid which displays details for a product. For a particular product i need to display its Id current status(Available/ Not) and which category it belongs to. The category part is a bit different from what it seems to be like. Product A can belong to Category A, B and C while product B belongs A ,c and D and so on. Structure of this table would be something like The category columns are retrieved from database and passed as parameter to construct the columns dynamically in Datagrid. I have defined the following Datastructure on UI to handle this.
Product{ var productId:String; var productName:String; var status:String; var categoryList:ArrayCollection; }
I am not sure if this will be able to solve my problem. I think I will need to have a Map containing category Names and if it is applicable for that product.
I have a question about the Spark DataGrid and how it works in terms of garbage collection. What I'm finding is that if I dynamically add and remove columns from the DataGrid at runtime, the GridColumns and ItemRenderers never get freed from memory.
For instance, if I have a list with 10 items and I create 10 columns, there will be 100 ItemRenderers and 10 GridColumns. If I remove all of the columns, they are still there.
I am trying to create a datagrid in FLEX. The trouble is that I want it to be 100% dynamic - i.e. columns & data.
Basically I need to populate the datagrid via a result set from a database query, this data will be gathered via a standard java spring jdbc dao layer. The query is as generic as 'select * from tablename', so the result set can change from query to query.
My plan is to convert this result set into some form of java object, my initial thought is a Map of some kind that will contain the column name and values for a row.
The bit Im struggling with is that I need to convert this result set into a ActionScript object (via graniteds) that I can then use to populate a datatable.
I have seen lots of examples on how to dynamically add columns to the datagrid, and tie in the data via the datafield object - but Im stuck as to how I do this if I dont know how many columns I will have or what the column names will be.
I want to save remotely (on a database) the state (visible columns, columns width and order) of a Flex3 DataGrid.For width and visibility I can simply save them by accessing each column attribute.. But for the order? Do I have to create the dataGrid dynamically?
I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to dynamically display 3 columns of text in my swf. They are somewhat long lists of song/album/label titles and all 3 columns need to scroll as one unit. My client gave me Excel files with the lists in spreadsheet form. I've tried exporting as XML and HTML. I've gotten the lists to disply in my SWF using dynamic text boxes but now I can't figure out how to get all 3 text boxes to scroll as one.
Is there a way to create a simple table in Flash and have each list load into Column1, Column2, and Column3 and then attach a srollbar to the table?
I was just wondering, is there a way to split up dynamicly loaded text (pulled from a database via php) into columns? A friend of mine made a design for a flash site with the text in columns. I'm going to load the text from a database via php, but I was wondering if there's a function I could use to split up the text into columns?
Any Way to load text externally into text fields in flash but arranged in linked columns (like in Quark). I'd like to be able to just add text to the external file and the text to be rearranged automatically in the columns. For example, if you add a name in the middle, all the following text has to be moved down.
I need to be able to list a bunch of parts and their attributes in a manner that is readable and dynamic. This is what I mean. I would like to display something like this in the end:
Code: QTY SKU DESCRIPTION COST 1 abcd This is a part 100
I'm implementing an image gallery which presents assets as equally sized boxes that are forming a grid. I thought that I could easily achieve that by using the spark.layouts.TileLayout but unfortunately I have some additional requirements that I'm unable to implement with it.The general principal should to be to present as many boxes as possible within given space. The entire layout of the application is liquid and depends on the user's screen resolution.[code]I don't know the RequestedColumnCount or RequestedRowCount in advance as they depend on the available space, so the above code layouts all elements from left-to-right and then from top-to-bottom - which is as close as you can get from what I really want to achieve.This list of boxes should be cable of rendering fake paging. In reality it means that if the last visible row does not entirely fit the available space it should be moved to the next page.
To give you an example let's imagine that we have a list of 10 images. Each one is 10x10 px but my screen resolution only allows me to fit a grid 35x35 px. This means that one page is only capable of presenting 9 images in form of a 3x3 grid (as 5 px is not enough to present a full image). The 10th image should be then transferred to the second page.This is obviously not happening automatically with the code that I've pasted above as the TileLayout allows for displaying partially visible rows (in a form of a vertically scrolled list). I was wondering how I could achieve the behavior described above.If the above description does not sound logical please let me know so that I can adapt it (or include more details).
I'm trying to create a dynamic datagrid in Flex. The data is coming back fine and I can add the column headings. I need to do it this way as the column names are dynamic and coming from a mysql database.he values from re.result.resultSet.results[j].notes into the data fields?
I'm trying to create an application that receives variables passed through FlashVars and makes use of the new TLFTextField. I have run into an issue with accessing the FlashVars after declaring a TLFTextField variable.
The code I have is as follows:
ActionScript Code: import fl.text.TLFTextField; var tf:TextField = new TextField();
[code]....
The HTML file is passing a FlashVars value of "title=ThisIsTheTitle" If I run the code, the tf TextField is empty. If I comment out the last line that creates the TLFTextField, the FlashVars come through fine and the tf TextField displays the "title" variable that was passed through FlashVars.If I change the last line to read:
ActionScript Code: var titleTLF:TextField = new TextField();
It works fine (the "title" variable from FlashVars is show in the tf TextField). I don't understand why delcaring a TLFTextField prevents the FlashVars from being accessed.
I am trying to put data in a data grid and I fixed the column width. But some of the data is not coming up, it just show the data which comes within the column width. So is there any way to make row height dynamic..........
I receive from the httpservice with a certain frequency a string like this:1#3#234525234whererow#column#valueI want to display into datagrid the above string at real time; at the moment my code displays the whole string, composed by many strings like the one above.How can i solve the problem?I have the following code
I have a datagrid that uses a custom cellrenderer class to allow me to use a combobox. I have an invisible column that holds the value returned by the cellrenderer when the combobox value is changed. BUT sorting is wonky. Since what really lives in the combobox column individual cells is an object, it never really sorts properly. Is there a way to fire a sorting event to the column that holds the real value?
in my AS3 Datagrid, I'd like the columns would not be reorderable by clicking at their top.Now it appears the datagrid that represent a players' classification.Now if I click at the top of every column, the reorder as like they want.
I have one Datagrid in Flex. In datagrid there are 4 columns like mark1,mark2,mark3,Total.When i enter mark1,mark2,mark3 that time i want to update total.
Back again with another Flex question. I have an XML structure like...
[Code]...
Now I got his displaying on my grid by saying dataProvider=XMLListCollection... What I want to do is on selection of a row, check if it has "Address" tag, if it has display the other grid, else hide the grid.
I am reading dynamic data from the MySQL using JSP and it's forwarding the details in the form of XML to the Flex. I would like to bind this XML data to the datagrid. Am able to bind the data if the datagrid has only one column but don't know how to bind data which contains 2-3 columns.
[Code]...
Using HTTP Service am able to display this as an Alert message in the Flex but don't know how to bind this to a datagrid.
Has anyone coded a datagrid component so that the column widths adjust to match the length of the longest element in each one? I know how to set the width of a column to a specific pixel value, but how to go about calculating the width required for each cell? Obviously this depends on font choice and the number of characters I'm trying to display.
I'm trying to bring in data from an xml file, and populate a datagrid with it. I've got that working just fine, but all the columns are spaced evenly, and will not extend it if the content in the rows is too long. I found an example of it that would be acceptable, if it was doable in actionscript 3 alone, unfortunately this example uses flex. It's near the bottom of the page.

That would really be perfect, dynamically going multiline and increasing row height when it needs to. I found an adobe article on making it multiline in just flash, but its completely static. I've been able to reference the text width through the cellrenderer class, but I can't get access to the datagrid from there. If I could get the textField width and then use that to determine column width, that would be incredible.
How can I dynamically create my DataGrid's columns? Right now I'm using the following code in flex, but would like to create the columns to look a little different, depending on certain criteria in AS.
I am dynamically adding columns based on values received from an array. The columns are getting generated properly.But the problem is when I try to insert values for each column, I have to specify each column name in the addItem function.So the addItem function accepts only hardcore values which match my column names --- but it does not accept dynamic column names.Since it does not accept dynamic column names, it can't populate appropriate values related to each column.scoreBoardData is the instance name of my DataGrid component
Here's the code: import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn; var obj:Object = {"systime":1323323297534,"id":1,"dest":"123234","source":"1983","ack"
I have a 1 row, many column flex datagrid. I would like to turn the dataGrid on its side, so that the column headers become a single column running down and v.v. Is there a way to do that in the DataGrid? Or am I stuck manipulating the data presented to the grid?
I have an object like: x=y b=u o=p u=e w=p
And I'd like a control that is visually similar to that. Currently the datagrid displays the object as: x b o u w y u p e p Which is too horizontal for my case.
1) Using datefield as item renderer in flex.I am dynamically creating datagrid and its columns. like
dataGridColumn=new DataGridColumn(); dataGridColumn.dataField="invoiceDTO.invoiceDate";// I read this value from XML dataGridColumn.editorDataField="selectedDate"; dataGridColumn.itemRenderer=new ClassFactory(DateFieldRenderer); dataGridColumn.rendererIsEditor=true;
But when UI is generated i get the error invoiceDTO.invoiceDate not found on the TestDTO
//Test DTO
public class TestDTO { public var invoiceDTO:InvoiceDTO; }
My objective is my dataField should be binded with datafield inside the datagrid.How can i do it in actionscript
2) I need to present combobox as item renderer. (same like case 1). But how can i assign dataprovider in the combobox which is present inside the datagrid.
I am trying to make a datagrid, that will dynamically add columns to it based on some condition. Now, I am able to add the columns, but I want the newly added column to have button using itemRenderer. I am unable to achieve this though. Getting this error on line 1
The datagrid gets its data from a back end database which has records like
[Code]....
I get errors like 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method refresh through a reference with static type mx.controls:DataGrid. for myRecords.refresh(); and Access of possibly undefined property sort through a reference with static type mx.controls:DataGrid. for myRecords.sort
