I am unable to find if the spark DataGrid supports moving / reordering the columns. If not what could be the best solution? Maybe using the mx version?
I want the user to be able to drag the columns and arrange them.

So I was able to create a new array that contains only entries with the attribute "ecard" in them, but now I want to re-order that array into numerical order based on the attribute "num" so that it lists as Ecard 1, Ecard 2, Ecard 3 in the XML. How would I go about re-ordering the new array I've created?
I want to save remotely (on a database) the state (visible columns, columns width and order) of a Flex3 DataGrid.For width and visibility I can simply save them by accessing each column attribute.. But for the order? Do I have to create the dataGrid dynamically?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to edit a Flash file, that get it's data from and XML file.Now when you click on one of the menu items, the page + page title should change, but somehow the page title remains the same. (at least for the first 3 menu items) But when you go to the last menu item and then back to one of the first 3 menu items, the correct page title is shown.I'm no flash / AS expert, so I can't really find out what the problem is, but it seems like it has something to do with this function

I'm building a portfolio site and I've renamed the secenes and reordered them but when I test the movie it defaults to what was originally scene 1. I'm working in AS2. If the mods will allow the web site is [URL]. There is an intro page which was scene 6 which is now renamed "intro" and draggd to the top of the pile but it doesnt show when I preview or upload.

Is there anyway i can order them by y coordinates that the lower will be in the front and the higher with be in the back?
I am trying to write a function that is passed an array and will then reorder it randomly and return the array. My problem is that as the position is generated randomly I dont know how long the loop must run for, this function doesn't work but it should give you an idea of what I'm trying to do:

how to reorder my Array by the Z coordinate now I want to add an event to animate it. I want my shapes to move from their position on the stage out of vision with the vanishing point at the bottom of the stage. I am making a horizontal list that I want to be able to drag each item around to reorder the list. When one clip is dragged over another I want the one under it to move left or right to fill in the empty space left by the clip being dragged. I cannot seem to figure out how to tell which movieclip is touching or "under" the movieclip currently being dragged around. It seems that the hitTestObject method need explicity instance names to work. In summary, I want to know the instance name of any display object that the dragging moveclip touches.

I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window.This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking.How would the python backend integrate with the UI.
I'm relatively new to AS3. There's one thing that I don't quite understand about Sprites. I'm making a tile based game, and all the tile graphics for a level are inside one movie clip in each frame. Would I be able to go about creating multiple sprites based on the frames in said movieclip's timeline I would I have to go through and make a separate library graphic for each.

i'm using this code to cycle through an array and move the movie clips to x:0, and y:height of clip, times whatever number it is.... if there are 4 objects in the array, object 1 would be 1 times it's own height.... etc... so they're spaced out.
however, when i resize my stage, i'd like to have them arrange differently... into columns... but i'm not sure how to specify breaking them off into columns. i tried something like this:

I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to dynamically display 3 columns of text in my swf. They are somewhat long lists of song/album/label titles and all 3 columns need to scroll as one unit. My client gave me Excel files with the lists in spreadsheet form. I've tried exporting as XML and HTML. I've gotten the lists to disply in my SWF using dynamic text boxes but now I can't figure out how to get all 3 text boxes to scroll as one.
Is there a way to create a simple table in Flash and have each list load into Column1, Column2, and Column3 and then attach a srollbar to the table?
I am using a titleWindow as a container for a popup (flex 3.5). I want to set the title of the window using a variable.
View 2 RepliesI have a single text field that attaches numerous lines of text. Because each line has an individual hyperlink, I'm using += and a for loop to append the next line. Here's the problem... When the text reaches the bottom it keeps going past the viewable area instead of becoming a new column - obviously by default. I know I can use scroll bars and all that mumbo jumbo, but having several columns is the way the client wants it.

I have an invisible column that holds the value returned by the cellrenderer when the combobox value is changed. BUT sorting is wonky. Since what really lives in the combobox column individual cells is an object, it never really sorts properly. Is there a way to fire a sorting event to the column that holds the real value?

_currentDatosBusqueda is an arraycollection I receive from the Server (with the correct format of dates and datetime).
What I am trying to do is hide an entire column if the content is all null.

In the sample above, sometimes all the data in the "Location Origin" will be null, so under the visible property I put a value which is either true or false depending on the data. But even when all the data is null and the visible property equals false, it still stays visible.
