.swf Loads In Firefox, But Not In IE 7?

Aug 9, 2009I've having an annoying browser issue and wondering if anyone can shed some light. I'm working on an flv player that displays 3 different kinds of 'mid-roll' ads: text, image or video. I got the text and video working (still needs some tweaks but essentially it's working) and thought the image ads were working as well but when I tried testing on my server it's working in fine in IE but in firefox the image doesn't load and seems isn't even called.Here's the code to load the image:

Nov 3, 2006I have my swf (embedded in a JSP page) deployed in Sun Application Server. My swf contains a Loader component which loads image through accessing the url of my servlet. This servlet of mine returns an image. Now, when i try it inside our network, it works both for IE and FireFox. But when i try it on an external network, the Loader loads the image for IE but it doesn't for FireFox. I'm doubting it is an acess problem since it works in IE.

Dec 17, 2007I have a swf that loads external images from an xml feed (using moviecliploader) and then rotates through these images every n seconds. This works fine in ie and it loads the images and scrolls through them. However in Firefox sometimes it loads the image and sometimes it doesn't! its like a lucky dip haha Is there any link that you know of to any information on this bug/issue with firefox that might help me resolve this? Found something that might be causing the problem, if Firefox cannot find the image within a certain time it just gives up... is this true?

Jul 21, 2009works perfect on my macbook pro (safari, firefox, and opera) but when I view the site on Vmare Fusion Windows XP and use IE and FireFox the pages don't load... I don't know what to make of this. Has anyone hear or seen anything like this happen before? BTW the website was created in Adobe Flash CS4/ AS 3.0 and published using Flash Player 10.

Mar 28, 2009Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:

}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.

and I have this swf file with cms that I'd like for this menu to load. Currently the swf file load external text using this code:

but when the xml menu loads this swf file its structure loads but not its data.I tried using :

in the loading swf main time line but it did not work.I should also mention that the dynamic data that loads onto the swf that is to be loaded by the menu, resides not in it main time line but 4 movie clips deep .I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Jun 25, 2009I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

Nov 21, 2005the best way to do it but i have a preloader the loads an external swf that loads 2 external swf files. one on layer o and the other 1.it seems to load the swf on layer 1 twice.url...if i run the swf that loads the 2 external swf files by it's self and the same problem happens.mouse over the navagation button and then mouse over the close button and follow the animation down to were it turns back into the navagation button. sometimes the close stays up.if i run the swf file that just contains the navagation it dosen't happen.

I've sifted through what seems like a million posts on the subject, with people getting the same result... the function I/they are attempting to call doesn't exist.
In the documentation example, there's a function to find/return either the SWF as an object or embed tag depending on which browser you're viewing the page in.

Jan 1, 2009I'm having issues with a flash animation that I made displaying correctly in Firefox 3 on Windows Vista. It only shows up incorrectly on this browser. It works fine in Firefox 2 and 3 on Windows XP, Safari and Firefox 3 on Mac, and Internet explorer 6 and 7 on XP and Vista.
Does anyone have any information on Firefox 3 and windows Vista in relation to bugs with flash animations?
IDE :: SWF Does Not Work In Firefox
Mar 12, 2009I have uploaded a swf but when viewed in Firefox, the swf does not work. However, the swf does work in IE.
I used Flash MX 2004 to export the swf.
Anyway, my firefox can view other websites with flash properly so the problem is definitely with my swf.

The page is loaded with Flash player 9 in Firefox 3.5.5 for Windows XP. note that we can't afford to have the wmode value other than 'window.'Actually the phenomenon occurs only with the 'window' wmode.You can change the 'movie' value to whatever you want.
When the page is first loaded in Firefox, it looks normal (or not).But when you move the mouse over the video clips or play them,they start stepping on each other's toes:
The images are overlapped,and the intersection of the screen keeps flickering.
We played with this and that attributes or parameters,put the clips in <iframe>s,but none of them succeeded.
PS: I'm not sure whether it is Firefox or Flash that's causing this.If this is not the right place for a question like this, I offer my apology.

Professional :: SWF Works In Firefox Not In IE
Sep 30, 2010Trying to recode map program to utilise modest map rather than original hand made map routines. Finished up yesterday and had squashed bugs pretty much(annoying flicker issue but that didn't appear on another web browser I figure it's flash/browser related issue). Then I realised I need to try this in IE as well. And it doesn't work. Map loads up so modest map code is working. What is NOT working is everything else. It's supposed to track locations and draw arrows to their positions.
It doesn't go to where it's supposed to initially. No arrows are drawn. No control buttons from HTML side work. Nothing. Zip. I have suspicion it could be the ExternalInterface which works differently on firefox and IE. Could that be reason? If so how does one go detecting what browser I am using and how does one need to take that into account? Or is there something else that's different between IE and firefox I need to take into account?
IE itself only gives rather mystified error message.

I ended up using the swfobject setting wmode: "transparent" which works fine in all browsers (Chrome, safari, IE) except firefox. In firefox I can't click the flash buttons, i tried to remove wmode=transparent and, of course, I can click any button I need (all browsers)... but this way I can't put my html content on top...

Xml :: Xml - Different FireFox Flash Behaviour?
Jun 23, 2011I have a flash component written in flex which reads a xml file and shows up its data. This works fine in IE and Chrome, but not in Firefox.When i used fiddler to check for the problem, it started working fine.And now i have come to the conclusion that when fillder is running in the background and i access the flash component it works fine (reads all the xml data and shows it up), but when i close fiddler and do the same....i get the following error, "Error reading {myfilename} file."
