AS2 :: Flash XML Loading Works In All Browsers But IE?

Jul 13, 2009

I've been working on a couple of media viewers/players which use XML playlists to dynamically generate their content.

One is this mp3 player: [URL]

The other is this image viewer: [url="http://tav.ind.in/stuff/comicexperiment/comic.html"]http://tav.ind.in/stuff/comicexperiment/comic.html[/URL

Both work fine in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer, neither one loads the information, and all text fields read as undefined.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Audio File Works On Mac Browsers But Not Windows Browsers

Jan 13, 2011

I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:

[URL]

When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..

this is the code called sound control

onClipEvent(load)
{
_root.soundstatus="on";
_root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);

[Code]....

then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..

I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..

Flash Video Object Works Fine In Mozilla Browsers But Not In IE

Jan 19, 2010

A simple flash video doesn't appear in IE. I've looked at answers to the same problem by NineBerry, however, I've tried those suggestions without luck.[code]I didn't include the file mulholland_intro_slideshow.fla as I doesn't seem necessary.I'm also aware that when encoding with Flash the object can only be made to played locally or via the network. I encoded locally for testing but it also plays across the network. Is that even relevant? I don't know.

However the file name is constant. how can i use flash to stream this live jpeg and make it appear like a streaming movie. I don't know how to go about this at all.

IDE :: SWF Works In Player But Not Browsers?

Jan 8, 2009

I have been using CS3, and publishing v8 AS2 files using swfobject for years with no dramas. I am certainly no expert, but have created at least 10 sites this way.My personal site for some bizarre reason has stopped working in all browsers (and I am sure the file hasn't changed). My SWF works in Flash Player perfectly but comes up blank in any browser... yet other SWFs work fine.

[URL]

I have tried republishing, reloading site, different hosts, recreating the file... I am absolutely stumped! :-) I just cannot get it to work.

ActionScript 2.0 :: GetURL Works On Firefox (mac And Pc), Not On Other Mac Browsers

Jul 13, 2011

I have flash files on a page which load and play a sound file, then advance via getURL javascript to the next page when the sound file has finished playing (i.e. the movie is non-interactive, maybe this is part of the problem).

On firefox - both PC and Mac - it works just fine. On Mac Safari and Chrome at least is doesn't seem to do anything, but the same javascript works fine when I issue it to the browser manually.

the getURL statement

Code:
getURL("javascript:document.getElementById('NextButton').click();");

1. In the html I have used OBJECT with nested EMBED. With all the browsers that I tested, this worked fine, as did having only the EMBED code

2. I have used the allowScriptAccess parameter correctly in both cases (always), and the swf is hosted on the same subdomain as the survey engine too...

3. I'll check now if a simple alert() is displayed

IDE :: Flash Loading Differently In Browsers

Apr 28, 2009

I have one swf, and roughly 4 or 5 classes. when the swf loads, the document class places 3 movieclips onto the stage- one of them animates across the screen. Using the tween class, I listen for the COMPLETE tweenEvent, which when triggered, instatiates a slideshow class. the slideshow class loads in a series of pics.On safari(mac), linux, no issues. on firefox(mac), the 3 mc's never appear, but instead, there is the same time delay as if the animation did play, and then the pics DO load. my client says everything works fine on first load, but returning back to the page after navigating away causes the same problem I described above. THey are on IE- probably 7.

Flash :: Menu Not Loading In IE9 But Fine In All Other Browsers?

May 22, 2011

I have a flash menu on this site: www.lakecenter.org. The menu works fine in all browsers EXCEPT IE9. It looks like this javascript file is not loading:

<script type="text/javascript" src="scripts/ActiveContentDropDownWide.js"></script>

In IE9 it just displays BUTTON1, BUTTON2 etc but in all other browsers it displays the complete menu. This is what happens when the ActiveContentDropDownWide.js script is removed which is why it seems to be a problem with that script and IE9. But I could be wrong?

Flash :: Stop The Loading Circle In Browsers?

Oct 3, 2011

Imagine I have a flash mp3 player and when the page loads the player starts to play a song. So while flash is downloading the mp3 file the browser reports the page like it's still loading. Which I understand, there are still active downloads. But a client wants me to somehow tell the browser not to show this progress (like the circle in chrome) for the files the player downloads.

Flash Not Loading - Works Fine On Localhost

Feb 11, 2010

Building a website and the navigation menu is flash (.swf file). The mnuLoader.swf file retrieves information from settings.xml file. Everything worked perfectly when I tested in localhost/website/page.html. When I upload to hosting server www.website/index.html the mnuLoader.swf displays but does not load (its like it can't find the settings or picture files and displays the same as when you are waiting for something to load etc).

I have tried changing the xml file path from relative to absolute and no change. All three files index.html - mnuLoader.swf - settings.xml are in the same directory and the mnu_imgs folder contains the img icons for the menu. I don't understand why it would work on localhost but not on the actual server? Also directly underneath on the website I have another flash banner (just looping text pretty much) that works fine both on localhost and actual server so am pretty sure is not an access issue etc.

The mnuLoader.swf is Flash 8

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading An External SWF Larger Than Browsers Window?

Nov 20, 2009

I have a site build with several swf sections (Home,About,etc...) loaded via XML. The thing is that one of the sections needs to be larger than the browser windows height, actually a lot larger.

So i need to find a way so that the browser's scroll bar will appear only for that specific section...

Right now it works if i change the dimensions of the main movie container and edit the index.html: overflow:auto;

But what kind of code should i use to let the browser's scroll bar appears if a movie that is loaded via XML is larger than height of the browser...

ActionScript 2.0 :: XML Loading ... Works On One Domain But Not The Other?

Feb 9, 2006

so I have a problem. I made this Flash application that reads live commentary from an XML file and displays it on screen. There's a refresh every 30 seconds because the data is likely to change alot since it's a live commentary. The SWF file was made in 2 versions, using the same code, for two different URLs, both located on the same server ([URL] and [URL]). The path to the application is "oc2006"... the server is using SSI (server side includes) so there is one HTML file but it loads different templates depending on what URL you come through.

[Code]...

This is where I start going insane- because the XML files are located in the sub-folder "live/commentary/ergebnisse/olympia/" (from the server-root, not from the "oc2006" folder)... and the first commentary file that is opened on startup is "2006-02-10.xml"... opening that file is no problem.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Images From Another Server But Works Locally?

Mar 30, 2010

I'm using BulkLoader to load a single XML, parsing this, extracting out a list of images on another server (amazon), adding them to BulkLoader and loading them in.

this all works great running in the Flash IDE but as soon as it's uploaded the xml loads, parses BulkLoaders starts but non of the images load.

I assume it's a security issue but linking to these images from the local or from a html page works fine just not from Flash from a server.

Actionscript 3 :: Loading Swf-fonts With Loader Works Perfectly In SDK 3.5 - Not In SDK 4

Jul 12, 2011

For a large project I have the following setup:

a content editor made with Flex SDK 3.5
a content viewer made with Flex SDK 4.1

Both need to work with dynamically loaded fonts as the user can use the fonts he wants.

So we used this approach:

convert the font files with Flash Professional to SWF-files (Creating a Font SWF)
editor: load the fonts with Loader (Loading a SWF font) the fonts can then be perfectly used within the application to generate htmlText viewer: the same approach to load the fonts + register them with Font.registerFont (Flex 4 Embed font from swf)

Now the problems: although the loaded fonts are listed when you trace Font.enumerateFonts(false), they are not used in the textarea. There the text is shown with the default font.

Maybe the problem is the fonts are loaded as embedAsCFF for the Text Layout Framework, and that way are not usable in an mx.controls.TextArea? But as I can not change that to a spark TextArea for multiple reasons, I need a solution to use the loaded fonts in that mx.controls.TextArea.

Actionscript 2.0 :: XML Data Not Loading Online, Works Fine When Testing?

Mar 27, 2010

I spent probably 12 hours today trying to make this mp3 player work with my limited AS2 knowledge and finally got something that looks and works the way I want it to! Hooray! Except when I uploaded it, it didn't work anymore. Where the XML data is supposed to be, it just says "undefined." I've searched everywhere for an answer and am not finding anything that fixes it. I've tried moving the files around so they're in the same folder, renaming them, making the path absolute, using gskinner's XML2 classI don't know what else to do[URL]As I was writing this, the site on my desktop where I've been working decided it would load the xml after all...but my laptop is still not cooperating, so there's still something wrong. Maybe it's not loading the xml until the songs are all downloaded?

IDE :: Flash Compatibility In Web Browsers?

Jun 27, 2009

I was wondering, because of my recent liking of AS3 and active flash content:

Just how compatible are flash files in web browsers?

Will they run in every browser? (obviously not, but which ones don't they run in / which ones do they have trouble running in?)

Why, in Internet Explorer does it always give me a hard time about running active content with its security warnings? (is there a way to get around this / allow the content to play normally without hassle? e.g When I got to Sony.com Internet Explorer does not complain about running that active content.)

Is there anything else you know about the compatibility that you would like to share?

Flash Movie Not Lining Up In Different Browsers?

When I view the site in Firefox however, the flash movie loads a few pixels off (see pics). Anyone have a fix for this?I've tried setting the vertical align of the movie to "bottom," and I've also tried dragging all of the cells tight in the site. I've even tried rebuilding the site all together. As soon as I bring in the flash, the cells get off in FirefoxSite in Safari:

Is the shadowbox wrapper, flash parameters, or fullscreen mode?I tested other shadowbox flash files in IE6 and Firefox2 without issues.
