ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading An External SWF Larger Than Browsers Window?
Nov 20, 2009
I have a site build with several swf sections (Home,About,etc...) loaded via XML. The thing is that one of the sections needs to be larger than the browser windows height, actually a lot larger.
So i need to find a way so that the browser's scroll bar will appear only for that specific section...
Right now it works if i change the dimensions of the main movie container and edit the index.html: overflow:auto;
But what kind of code should i use to let the browser's scroll bar appears if a movie that is loaded via XML is larger than height of the browser...
...to print a chart displayed in the user's browser as part of a full-screen Flash application. This works fine if the browser window is larger than the available print job page size. However when the browser window is smaller, the print out is clipped. How do i resolve this? Is there an object I can add my Sprite to that will not get clipped by the bounds of the browser window?
I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out why my preloader.swf isn't scaling right as my site loads. The way my preloader works is that I load in my site code and stage elements first ( called Main.swf ). Then, when that is loaded, I preload the first large background image for my site with a second preloader bar. For the first preloader bar ( loading Main.swf ), the graphics for the preloader are all scaled up by about 25% then it jumps to normal size when the loading of the first background image starts.
I have looked around for this and haven't found a way that clearly explains how to do this. More often than not the button will close the browser window in one but not another browser.Is the a simple way of closing a browser window in all types of browser ( Or mainly Firefox, IE and safari on both Mac and PC ) with actionscript?
I followed Senocular's XML portfolio tutorial and everything is working fine, except I want for each thumbnail when you click, for it to open the larger pic in a javascript window. I got it working, almost, the strange thing it's opening the same large pic no matter which thumb I click on. It seems to be loading the same javascript window also, with the adress being the html file where the swf file is. The code in the html file is this:
I am working on this image scroller, where thumbnails of images are displayed. I get each image by
function urlLoaded(event:Event):void { urlLoader.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,urlLoaded); xml=XML(event.target.data);
[Code]....
So is there anyway I could use any of the above code to load the big image associated with the small image? If event.target points to the current thumbnail being picked up, could i do something like event.target.url to point to its name or something?
im using a uiloader for a library on my website. ive got 8 video in seperate swf. files. each have there own preloader which i gave because i used the streaming option for the videos but they didnt always load and i wanted it to be more reliable maybe i did something wrong but im new to this so i did it they way i thought would work .
i embedded all of the videos re-uploaded the site to find that when i click the link to load the video the videos are very large is there anyway i can control this? and is this something to do with the external swf or the main website file?
I have one swf, and roughly 4 or 5 classes. when the swf loads, the document class places 3 movieclips onto the stage- one of them animates across the screen. Using the tween class, I listen for the COMPLETE tweenEvent, which when triggered, instatiates a slideshow class. the slideshow class loads in a series of pics.On safari(mac), linux, no issues. on firefox(mac), the 3 mc's never appear, but instead, there is the same time delay as if the animation did play, and then the pics DO load. my client says everything works fine on first load, but returning back to the page after navigating away causes the same problem I described above. THey are on IE- probably 7.
I have a flash menu on this site: www.lakecenter.org. The menu works fine in all browsers EXCEPT IE9. It looks like this javascript file is not loading:
In IE9 it just displays BUTTON1, BUTTON2 etc but in all other browsers it displays the complete menu. This is what happens when the ActiveContentDropDownWide.js script is removed which is why it seems to be a problem with that script and IE9. But I could be wrong?
Imagine I have a flash mp3 player and when the page loads the player starts to play a song. So while flash is downloading the mp3 file the browser reports the page like it's still loading. Which I understand, there are still active downloads. But a client wants me to somehow tell the browser not to show this progress (like the circle in chrome) for the files the player downloads.
I've designed a site that dynamically calls in jpgs into a swf. I've done it before on other sites and haven't had a problem. However on this site (www.jefftse.com), sometimes the jpgs load and sometimes they do not on IE on a mac. Which is bizzare. Why would it not work occasionally?
I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:
[URL]
When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..
this is the code called sound control
onClipEvent(load) { _root.soundstatus="on"; _root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);
[Code]....
then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..
I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..
[URL]... I am working on finishing up the above site, but I am having issues when I look at it in different browser. Safari shows issues with apostrophes and parentheses. When I look at the text in Google Chrome there are text errors. Is there a way to fix this? Using CS4, Action script 3
I am attempting to play with AS3 for the first time. I have a combo box that I need to load in different .swf files when something is selected in the combo box.
I have 2 functions, one will load a different url, based on what is in the data field for each item in the combo box when selected:
function changeHandler(event:Event):void { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(); request.url = ComboBox(event.target).selectedItem.data; navigateToURL(request); aCb.selectedIndex = -1; }
The other function loads in a .swf which is what I want:
function changeHandler(event:Event):void { trace("you clicked me"); var loadit = new Loader(); addChild(loadit); loadit.load(new URLRequest("movie1.swf"));}
but it's not set up based on the selectedItem.data so it doesn't change based on what is selected in the combo box.
I'm not sure what needs replaced in the second function to get it work like the first with the selectedItem.data....?
I have a movieclip clip that plays when the movie starts, the movieclip is a visual assets that show's that the application is loading some information but it's not showing any loading progress, just playing while the assets are loaded.I created a for loop that will load the assets using a simple loader, and then when the object is loaded the application push the object to an array.Problem is that when the loading starts all the animation that i have on screen stops until the loading is finished.The whole point is that the animation will play while it's loading.
I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:
[FMX] I am having trouble loading an XML file on an external server into my flash movie when it is uploaded. The data loads in fine when the flash file is on my local computer with the xml file on a server. As soon as the flash file is uploaded the XML data will not load in.
I used to do this fine with AS2 and now i'm struggling to get it to work in AS3.my code is as follows:
PW1.addEventListener( MouseEvent.CLICK,loader1 ); //==================== PS function ============================================= var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
(for this code, check the mcBandPreloader in de .fla file)
Code: var imageLoader:Loader; var RespJpeg:String = "images/arch1Proj.jpg" function loadImage(url:String):void {
[Code]....
Here the problem is that I can't type html in my external txt file. (I did checked the html button in Dynamic Text Properties. What am I doing wrong here?
how do I open a movie (in this case they are mostly avis and .swfs thrown in) in an external window that can be closed upon completion, either automaticaly, or manualy, (tho c'mon how cool would automaticaly be...) and leave my screen where and as it was before the movie was launched.
I'm loading a external swf into a movie everything is fine with that. The only problem is that its loading only a part of it. Does anybody know why? Also, this swf is a mp3 player with streaming. The streaming part works but the playback doesn't.If i start only the mp3 player by itself it's working.here is the fla for the player
I'm trying to load a SWF movie into a target movieclip called blankmc. The SWF movie is loaded from an absolute URL (eg. [URL]/img/20042005113934movie3.swf ) My Loading Progress code fails to detect the SWF file size. However the same code works perfectly for a JPG! Essentially the .getBytesLoaded() and .getBytesTotal fail to work. Why is this and how can I get it to work for loading SWFs?
I have two movies that I want to show but in different windows. eg. I want to show the first movie in a window and then be able to click on a button then it opens a new window for the second movie. I have tried to do it but it still comes up in the same movie window.

Specifically, I am building a flash page that loads external swf files and inside some of the external swf files, I would like to add audio and flash video (flv) streaming from the Flaash Media Server. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf
Lets say I have Main.swf and sub.swf, and I wanna load sub when I press a button from Main, but sub.swf has its own external class file attached, so here is the problem, when I load sub using loader class and I would get this message from the output panel:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at subScript()
seems loader class can not access sub.swf's external class when sub is being loaded.
Lets say I have subgallery.swf file that loads jpeg images. And I have gallery.swf file that loads subgallery.swf.The jpeg images and both swf files are in the same folder.When I test gallery.swf it loads subgallery.swf but subgallery.swf doesn't load images. When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?
