AS3 :: Flash - Catching Uppercase Letters

I know how to catch usual lowercase letters. I'm using KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN and compare the code to the ASCII table to find out which key was pressed. Now, I also want to be able to find out if there is, for example SHIFT+A pressed, and I have no idea how to implement this. I mean, in my program SHIFT and A are absolutely different keys which have nothing to do with each other, and they both will call KeyboardEvents when pressed. In Georgian alphabet some letters are typed by combination of SHIFT and English letters, for example W on Georgian keyboard means წ, when SIFT+W means ჭ. Absolutely different letters, as you can see. And I want to be able to catch both, coz I'm currently developing Georgian-language game.

What would be the best way to simply take a string like

and make myString = "thiiatibleeam";
or another example

I have a series of .swf files that I inherited from an old version of a site I'm trying to rebuild.
When flash_element.submitForm() is called, they POST some data directly to a static url ("/submit"), then depending on the response, reload the browser page.
I would very much like to capture the data that they POST using javascript - preferably without it getting sent at all - so that I can have more intelligent logic to handle to request/response than is built into the .swf files I've inherited.
Basically: When a flash object makes a http request, can I catch and cancel this event in Javascript?

It seems to mee that my app eats too much memory. Is there a way to control memory usage in flash? Amount of movie clips in memory? amount of textfields?

Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.That's what I see every time I try to load an image that doesn't exist using a Loader. I'm getting a list of URLs and can't validate if they're pointing to anything useful. Whenever it encounters a 404 it gives me that error.
I have tried to catch the error with every available IOErrorEvent there is (there are 7 of them),but none of them seem to capture the 404. Is there some other network event that I can be looking for to catch this condition?! I feel like I'm missing something obvious. What I'd really like is to be able to catch the event regardless of its description and just deal with it... sort of like
myLoader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.*, dealWithError);
But that's illegal. I even tried catching
HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS
but that never calls back because, I guess, it gets the HTTP status after it deals with the error events, so, as it fails on the "unhandled" error event, it just gets lost. Are there events that aren't in the IDE that I'm overlooking?

I am loading images and data into flash via XML. Some bits of data are missing an image or just don't have one for various reasons. When the image URL is null flash returns the message TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter url must be non-null. I have been trying to catch this error using IO error event but I am unsure if this is the the correct method for doing this as I can't seem to get it working. This is causing a problem for me because when I add the items to the stage the data doesn't match the images and what I would like to do once I am able to capture this error is push a default image into the _trackArray which i will then use to add items to the stage.

i have to create something that loads text dynamically and then you can input words and it determines if that word is in that dynamically loaded text. I have to output a statement for three different reasons.
1. If the word is not found
2. If the word is found
3. If the word is found, but it's not the same (Ex. You enter hello but the word in the text is Hello)
I have it all working for the moment using functions etc....but the one thing I am unsure about is how to determine whether the character is uppercase or lowercase or maybe there is another possible way so that I can print out the 3rd reason from about.(telling the difference from hello and Hello.)

For an input field I need about 20 fonts to be embedded.
The size increases like hell, as expected. So I try to embed only the needed characters.
First thing I notice is I can only set that for the text field, I expected to be able to set the character range for every single font.
I set only Uppercase for all my dynamic/input fields but the size doesnt decrease and I can still see all characters.
So I suspect the way it works is strange and/or I just dont understand how it works.

On the button class below the text is set to toUpperCase();. When the XML is fed into the text fields of my buttons it is making every character uppercase. Does anyone know how can I get mixed casing where only the first letter of each word is capitalized?

is it possible to script in flash so that you can have smoething like the enigma machine?ike have an input text box where you input a letter or words then have another output box where the translated work or letters would come out? and if so, can anyone provide me with the actionscript?or would i have to venture into Dreamweaver?

Using CS5, and certain letters simply won't show up in my dynamic text field. Not even a blank shows up, they just get stripped out. 'g' and 'v' are two of the letters, so the string 'v testing' shows up on the stage as 'testin'.
It doesn't seem to matter if I start with the string already in there, or add it dynamically. Here are the settings, but they don't really seem to matter either, I've experimented:

Ariel
Regular
Anti-alias for animation

I want to create a particle system that spews into the air multiple copies of letters that eventually spell out a phrase.Since the final file will involve hitTestObject collisions, I think I'd need, as a first step, 10 non-dynamic MCs to create my phrase... loaded into, I'm guessing, an array? It's like this: I got this .swf which takes a variable in the url, like: myswf.swf?id=1. I put it on my server and I embed it in a html-file on my server and it works fine. The swf takes the parameter(id) and it uses it correctly. THOUGH.. When I let some other person embed it in a html-file on their own server (you know, like you do with Youtube videos) it seems as if the swf doesn't get the parameter. If I run the html-file locally on my computer and links the <embed> tag to thesite.com/myswf.swf?id=1 it doesn't work neither, though if i link it to the local swf in the same folder it works fine. I don't get it, what's the problem here? Did anyone experience the same thing, and if so, did you solve it? How?

When the user clicks and drags across the movie, it changes frames--forward or backward according to which direction they drag. When they're on the last frame it should go to the first frame, and vice versa, if they're dragging in the associated direction.For some reason, there seems to be a minimum speed of mouse movement to go across this point, where it's not present to go between any other pair of slides.Here's the code:
