ActionScript 1/2 :: Embedding Japanese Characters At Runtime?
Nov 5, 2009
So I've got a basic actionscript text generator:Additional details:(you'll probably need japanese font loaded to read this)what is supposed to look like "The sign readsnstead loads as "The sign reads I don't understand why the english aspect of the fonts are loading but the Japanese symbols are failing - even if I set up an off stage textbox with the same kanji symbols embedded.
I have been trying to embed "小塚ゴシック Pro M" font via export for actionscript and I haven't had luck so far. I did the font.registration method but still no luck I had no problem doing this in CS3 and CS4 but CS5 must be different.
I have been working on a subtitles engine for flash/flv video player. On my Mac everything is great, nice aliased glyphs, displaying all the characters, etc. Switch to windows, it all goes out the window. Some machines with Eastern Characters enabled display fine, but I can't guarantee all users will have this option selected.
I am using the TLFTextField, I am pulling in UTF-8 XML with Chinese/Japanese characters. I have tried embedding the (required fonts/glyphs) but pushes the file size up massively. I have also tried changing it to unicode, with no joy. Has anyone got any experience with displaying these characters while maintaining a low file size.
I have some AS code that allows you to click on a button and will display a numerical result inside another button, currently in English. I am looking into converting this to Japasese. Does the entire AS code need to be in Japanese or just the numbers.
I have built a website that pulls languages from multiple XML sources.I have been able to do Russian, Spanish, French, English and Italian, now I am stuck on Japanese.[code]...
I'm trying to embed a handful of European language characters into a little flash news ticker (Swedish, Norwegian and some others).I'm embedding my swf file in the html and passing a FlashVars variable This is the text that the ticker displays. For some reason the swf doesn't render the character when I put a foreign character such as in the HTML. I have embedded all these fonts in the dynamic text box in my .fla Attached is the .fla and .html file where you can input the text for the swf to display.
PHP Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><title>Flashvars Example</title></head><body><p><object width="728" height="36" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
I have to embed VAGRounded bold. I can't seem to get it to work reliably. I have created 4 dynamic text boxes, one for each of the 4 styles and embedded the characters into each one for the 4 versions of the font. I then wrote some text directly into the boxes on the stage.I created a 5th dynamic box and called it "test". I set the family to VAG ROunded, style:bold (ie just like one of the ones above). I then embedded the characters into it.I added this dead simple as2.[code]THis 5th text box looks NOTHING like the bold one from above, as you can see in the attached image.

I have seen this somewhere, people make a swf just for the fonts, import fonts they need into the library (and embed just the wanted characters) and they probably load this swf somewhere....
i want to embed some of the system fonts on client machine in my flex app at run time there is way to load the fonts swf at runtime but it is not suitable cause of some security issues.
is there any way to embed fonts at run time in my flex app?
Does anybody know how to force Flash to embed all neededcharacters when creating font symbol? When embedded font is used in textfields instead of device fonts a lot of characters stop to be accessible. IsFlash limited to use only with a couple of languages? What about rest of them?
Here the text is "Press ▲+▼ to reset it to default." But when I set testTF.embedFonts = true; up and down arrow is not shown in output. If you set the value to false, characters are shown.
I have all text fields set to static which supposedly has the characters embedded. However, when I open the file on a computer that does not have that font installed (Helvetica Neue) it is replaced with Time New Roman. I've read some articles about embedding on flash, but none of them seem to be quite clear about this. I have even tried to change the text fields from static to dynamic and embedding the glyphs, but it just doesn't look as good as when I have static text. Besides being a heck of a waste of time, since I would have to do it for all of the pages... This would be like 200 text fields or so..
However, the client also wants to be able to use custom fonts that they would find and download themselves, and then place the custom fonts TTF file in the folder that I will specify for custom fontsIn the xml, there will be a tag for the font to use in the specific section.Question:Is there a way in action script 3 that I can load the custom font from the TTF or other related font file and then set a text field on screen to then use the custom font, even if the font is not installed on my computer at development time1. read xml2. read text content3. Set textfield.text = text content from xml4. Read colors from xml5. Set text field colors.6. Read font to use from xml7. load font from ttf file if not installed on user system.
I have a AS3 project in Flash CS4 in which I am dynamically loading in a font whose location is passed in via XML. It works when I write in the font name (here EASTERAR.TTF). However, if I replace it with a variable, I get an invalid metadata error.
Works fine
[Embed(source='C:/fonts11/EASTERAR.TTF', fontFamily="xyz")] var xyz:Class; var arialEmbeddedFont:Font = new xyz(); var textFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
I am facing a problem while embedding font(Arial) in as3. Please check the attached fla. Here the text is "Press ▲+▼ to reset it to default." But when I set testTF.embedFonts = true; up and down arrow is not shown in output. If you set the value to false, characters are shown.
When embedding fonts programmatically, (example here), is it possible to specify certain characters as you might if embedding within the Flash IDE?Here is my code so far, which simply embeds the font. It works, but I am assuming that it is embedding an entire character set.
I have been handed a project that was built to embed all assets at compile time and I need to update the app to load assets from a remote server instead. Right now everything is being embedded as follows:
[Embed(source="assets/gfx/tutorialBg.png")] public var tutorialBg:Class; [Embed(source="assets/gfx/tutorialStraightArrow.png")]
[Code]....
These Class variables are being referenced all over the app to place the assets so I'm hoping to be able to update the code to load the assets and store them in these same Class variables. So far the methods I've tried have not worked. I've tried using URLLoader and it loads the images fine, but I'm not then able to extract the image and cast it as type Class to these variables.
I'm attempting to use CS4 (PC/Vista, if that matters) to create a SWF file that will basically act as a "library" of commonly used symbols. This SWF would be loaded at runtime by other SWFs, which could then use the symbols within it, including all art and code assets.
How I can change the display of Month and Year display to Japanese style (i.e. Year Month) as in Header of Flex Date Chooser. What I would like to convert the style

I have created the MainMovieClip and Scrollbar as follow ....
my problem is that when I input japanese characters, the characters display at the top corner of the swf until I confirm the input. if I install FlashPlayer "flashplayer10_1_rc2_plugin_041910", then the japanese characters display in the textfield normally....why is that???
