ActionScript 1/2 :: Printing Specific Areas Of Site In Flash
May 19, 2009
I've a good understanding of flash but not so good when it comes to actionscript. At the moment I'm trying to build a flash site with a print button which will target specific areas of my site (including the contents of a scrollpane) and then fit them to the size of the page. I've spent a long time trying to get this to work, following different tutorials and Googling until my eyes went blurry, with very little success. The deadline approaches and I am getting desperate. how to achieve all of these requirements? Ideally I would love some magical component like videoMaru but that may be a tall order! I am publishing my swfs for Flash Player 8 with ActionScript 2.
im trying to produce something similar to this: [URL] What I need is to know how to create the text-feature.. : Meaning, the text changes everytime it enters one of the circels.. How do I make it do this?
I am trying to work out printing from Flash. I have seen that to print a frame you make it's frame label '#p'. This however always prints each frame labelled '#p' on a print command.
I was wondering if there is a way to print specific frames depending on what the user has entered. For instance pressing one button prints one hidden frame and pressing another button prints a different hidden frame.
The print command im am using is : print(this,"bmax");
Forgive if I am not explaining this very well- here goes. I have one major site with three other gallery sites that are related. From one of the gallery sites I need to create a button that takes you back to a specific page on the major site.
So I've recently started working with ActionScript 2.0 at my internship. I am now working on a game, that already had all its graphic interface designed and I am doing all the programming. Basically what I have to do is get some movie clips (randomly) from a different scene and print them on another scene in a designated area (but also randomly). I am not sure the best way to explain my problem, so I made a sketch of how the scene should look. [URL] So basically I want to print the movie clips on the black space, as if they were the red squares. But the movie clips are stored in a different scene in the same project. So I want to know two things: how do I get the movie clips from the different scene? And how do I print those movie clips on the specific area?
I have a movie with one frame, and movieclips which can be filled with color are attached. The drawings can be printed with color, but the whole stage is printed and the #b thingy doesn't seem to work. (I've got a box with the wanted print size on a separate layer named #b). If I create a keyframe on frame 2 and move the boundary box there, the print size is adjusted to the box, BUT... the colors are not printed, and all the movieclips which have _visible = 0 are also printed. So it seems I have to choose between printing the whole stage and printing the wanted area without color and with hidden lines...
I was wondering how can I make my links in Flash readable for browsers? In other words, to be able to provide link to specific section of my website. For illustration, take a look at Jenson Button's website:The link above points to the "News" section, although the site is in flash.
I'm trying to write an application that receives XML info from a specific site (stats for my Live365 webcast actually). This is my first MX project. I've read through the Macromedia support topics and have come up empty handed.
I'm currently trying to work out a method to highlight specific areas of text within a dynamic text field at runtime. The method I've been toying with so far has been the use of CSS highlighting, but have not seemed to have any luck thusfar. What I'm attempting to do is to illustrate, to students, sections within a passage of text pertaining to correct methods of source referencing (source in terms of bibilographical references), and so am essentially trying to change the background colour of sections of text specified at runtime.Here's some code I've thrown together to test the CSS theory:
PHP Code: var highlightstyle = 'span.highlight { background-color:yellow }';var txt = '<p><span class="highlight">highlighted text</span> no highlighted text<span class="highl
I'm trying to make a link from one flash site to another, but not just to the home page of it, but to a specific part of it. For example, I run and am wanting to make the direct links from the websites of the seven artists involved (mostly flash sites) to their specific page on thesite... does that make sense?
I have a sprite that has a scrollbar that uses the scrollrect feature. The sprite has several bitmaps and textfields. When I print the outer sprite (The one with the scrollrect) all of the textfields outside the scrollrect are cut after the first line. In case anyone else is having problems with printing sprites with scrollrects using the bitmap printing option fixes and prints most of the stuff in the sprite. Excluding all textfields outside of the scrollrect. This however can be fixed partially by embedding your fonts.
So now the only problem left is printing multiline textfields that are outside the scrollrect. P.S. Imho the scrollrect should have nothing to do with the printed area of the sprite because the printJob.addPage has a printarea parameter.
I want to be able to do site specific searches for a online group on Black Planet but they have so many restrictions on coding my only option is to use Flash. I tried some of the search box stuff on this site but they all seem to just do a web search, not site specific searches. I would like to have something that would search the group threads only. The URL to group is here if it helps: [URL]
Is it possible to link to a spacific "page" within a flash site much like you can do with a html web site? I want to be able to link to a spacific swf page within my site without going through the entire site to get to the "page" how do I do this using actionscript 2.0
I'm creating a Flash game...blackjack, actually. It uses a back-end made from Java.Anyway, there's a basic chat in the game, where new messages are added to the bottom...pretty much your standard chat window.This is how I do it now:txtArea.verticalScrollPosition = txtArea.maxVerticalScrollPosition;However, that does not always work. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't (oddly enough). I'm looking for a permanent solution. txtArea is the component TextArea (d'uh), and I'm using ActionScript 2.0.
Can I select all areas of the same fill/line colour attributes and tell flash to fuse them together into one new area so removing all the internal vector edges?Where is that command?Desperately wondering how I can reduce the complexity of some artwork, to try and stop CS5 crashing, or CS4 saying out of memory.I have a graphics exported from a mapping program as an Adobe Illustrator file. Lots of adjoining coloured areas, there being five different colours on the map. many of these areas abutt and are the same colour, so the vector lines between them could be removed and hopefully reduce the file size.Explained a different way, imagine a world atlas map with France Germany and Spain all in yellow, can I select them and choose fuse and lose their adjoining boundaries ?Is there in fact a clever way of getting flash to select all areas of the same colour, so I dont miss any , then fuse them ?This assumes that my issues lie with complexity of artwork and not just the number of layers I have in my movie clip.I seem to have reached a limit of Flash CS5, 27Mb file of 16 layers, each layer a movie clip, 5 of which are these coloured areas. This will severeley limit my plans yet I see far more complex diagrams on the net. If this was a Freehand file it would be a few Kb.
I am new to Flash but am slowly teaching myself via [URL] etc I have an image that I have added to a website via a content management system and want to make certain areas of that image into links to other sites. I found this page that does the kind of thing I want to do, but it appears from looking at the source code that the person who has done this has cut the image up into several sections in order to fit it into a table: [URL] Is there a better way to achieve the same kind of effect using Flash by making ares of an image into links and keeping the image as a whole?
Is anyone else seeing this is there any real information about how / when and what kinds of rendering rules there? I don't even know if the preview is live or cached. Googling for google preview is not all that helpful, I don't see any guides or help files coming up.
i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.
I was wondering if its still necessary to build a html site aswell as a Flash Site? Or is there a definitive and failsafe way to incorporate html into my flash site? SEO is a very important factor for me. I read this article: url...by Geoff Sterns in 2006, resulting in the following[code]
how do i export specific frames not all frame. ex: if flash has 1 to 200 frames. here i want to export 51 to 150 frames as a movie. if there is any command or plugin to export movie like this.
Is flash (actionscript 2.0) secure enough to use for a website that holds personal info, password, restricted areas, ect. How can I make it secure enough if it's possible.
A client of mine has had 2 sites (both Flash sites) attacked over the last 12 months, so he's been asking: should he go for a static HTML site or stick with a Flash site? Is there ways to make a Flash site more secure?
I am trying to print my Flash work out to an EPS/Illustrator compatible file so that it can be opened in illustrator and printed.Used to be able to use the Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer driver but I am unable to find it anywhere. Is anyone else using any other updated drivers/techniques?
I want to print the entire page from my flash application irrespective of the size which I have given. I know this can be done through scale-to-fit. I have used the following code to print from my flash application. The size of my stage is 1024 x 900 pixels and I would like to print in A4 size and scale to fit while printing. I haven't used any movie clip
My question is whether you can have a "generate jpeg" or "generate pdf" button within Flash that a user can click on and a .jpg or .pdf is generated from that.For example if I want a user to customize a Postcard to his/her likings and then save it as a jpg/pdf to print it, is that possible?Or to just have a print button that prints at high enough resolution to have it look good on paper (150-300dpi?)
I want to print a movieclip in flash. I want that if the size of the movieclip is more than the page size, then it automatically goes to the next page. How can I do this?
I have a flash movie which produces a certificate for participants in an online course.It gets the pageHeight, pageWidth from the printjob then scales the certficate image to fit nicely in the middle.This is working fine on windows and linux, but on the mac it is not behaving. It is chopping of the right and bottom edge of the certificate, I think because it's misreporting the page size - putting in some debugging information about the dimensions reports as expected - the same as on other platforms - but if I put two printouts on top of each other on a lightbox, the mac one is scaled up, mostly horizontally.
This is going to sound like a really stupid query, but I'm totally new to this. I can grab the contents of a single variable from a php page and display it in a field in Flash, which works great. I do this using the echo command and placing an & before the variable to be sent. e.g. echo "&textData=$contentSenttoFlash";
When I embed the flash movie into the php page though, the echo command also prints that variable to the screen, so that it appears both in the flash movie (which I want), and again as a text string on the page (which I don't want). Is there any way to prevent the php printing the variable as well whilst using this method?
