Flash - Using NetConnection Class To Live Video Feed?
Oct 11, 2010I'm trying to use the NetConnection class to connect to a live video feed on an external server. I have it set up to start playing my video when the user clicks a Play button, however, this appears in my output every time I click the Play button:
ArgumentError: Error #2126: NetConnection object must be connected.

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS4 Creating A Random Image Generator From A Live Feed
Oct 28, 2009i am wondering if it is possible, and if someone would be so kind to help me code a scene where two thumbnails, side by side, are flipped up and down, and back up, each time revealing a new random image culled from a feed such as a flickr feed (or any others available, is there a random google image search feed that i dont know about?).if this is possible, i would need assistance in coding the script so that the flash movie is dynamic and pulls image data in real time from the feed, displays it within the two thumbnail cells, and for added headache pain, i would hope to also learn how to code a random image to be selected based on a visitors date/time stamp.i am a graphic designer with rudimentary knowledge of action script 2.0 (yikes!) so please, go slowly / explain yourself. i have searched the forum, but i cannot find any previous threads that combine the random image generator idea with a live feed (unless if i missed it, please point it out to me if you can find such threads).

Now I want to record the live streaming from FME on FMS, I changed the fms.ini:

but the streaming didn't be recorded in this folder.

Dec 9, 2010I have installed flash media server, flash cs5, media live encoder to be able to view my webcam feed via my website. Now in addition to these, i started streaming to localhost, and installed a dns updater which updates a name server according to my current ip. Then i wrote this dns address in the feed's source from flash 5 as rtmp://thednsname.somedns.net/live/livestream
so far so good, i also forwarded the ports 1935 incoming and outgoing from modem to my computer as well (because 1935 is said to be the default port number for media server). firewall -> closed (just in case); and my internet provider doesn't block ports...started the media server (with admin privilage in 7), started the live encoder, connect to localhost, start live feed.
NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. Source can't be found.

Aug 19, 2010I am building a menu that is to run on a mobile device.. the menu is populated with data from a live xml feed. and then suppose to be both dragable and "throwable" - meaning if you swipe up or down fast is scrolls with a little velocity physics slowing down over time. I wanted this menu to use as little processor power as possible so I am using scrollRect along with all my menu items being set to
cachAsBitmap= true;
Its working for the most part except once it stops scrolling and the user mouse downs on it again to start dragging, it tends to jump up or down like 20-100 pixels.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create An Array For Every Time Two Characters Exchange Three Lines Of Dialogue?
Jul 9, 2009i'm creating a very linear game which will be dialogue-heavy. In fact, there will be little action involved at all. Think a game storybook. I'm using ActionScript 2 because AS3 is just too complicate for the type of newbie that I am. But all I'm trying to do is set up dialogue between two characters in my game with an image of the speaking character to the left of the textbox. Something very much like this:I considered creating arrays for the dialogue but my problem is that if I create an array for every time two characters exchange three lines of dialogue, I would end up with over 300 arrays. Not my cup of tea.
So, instead, I focused on this. I created a function called speak. Speak pulls two parameters: charNum and charText. CharNum is a number which specifies which frame of the charPic instance should be displayed, showing which character is currently speaking. CharText is simply the dialogue the character will speak, which will be displayed in the dynamic textbox with variable name 'dialogue'.The following code is an example of what I have at home. I'm at work trying to get help, so I don't have the actual coding. Therefore, small errors may be present. I'm looking more at the overall functions guiding my code.

You see, AS2 sees these as I believe what is called synchronous functions, meaning they run at the same time. Therefore, the second speak function overwrites the first one before the user presses the space bar to go to the next one. See the issue?I've tried to seek help on this issue (and other before), and I keep getting told about arrays and setInterval. But my problem is that I've tried it all. I don't see a good array tutorial about this type of thing, and setInterval doesn't function like I'd want as well. Instead, it seems that from what I've read and tried, setInterval is for setting a delay up for a certain amount of time. I don't want that. I want a delay to occur until a button (namely the space bar) is pressed.
Like I said, this seems like a fairly common thing to do (stringing together dialogue in a flash movie/game), but I have seen no tutorial nor other help through all my Google and forum searching. A little push in the right direction would be appreciated. Like I said, I've figured out everything else my game needs from preloaders to game inventory to animation effects.

Nov 11, 2008I've created an horizontal sliding stock ticker that uses a xml feeder provided from another site.The ticker is now working fine if preview it doing ctrl + enter or if I see the swf with the flash player. The Problem comes when I want to preview it with F12 the browser shows me a warning that says something like this (the original text is in spanish)"adobe flash player has stopped this opration bc it may be not secure ...."I also can not see the swf file when online Here it is the code I'm using

Jan 13, 2012Looking for help! I need to post a stock price on a swf webpage. The stock symbol SNA.V is only available from yahoo finance (as far as I can tell). It's a Canadian company traded only on TSX. Anyway, I need a way to display the current stock price and have it refresh by itself. Yahoo finance offers a widget, but does not support most international codes. I don't need anything other than the current price in text. I can get flash to retrieve the external text from [URL].. - but, I can't get it to refresh on its own - also, the swf won't access the external source once it's online (just displays a security warning). I'm looking for any ideas to work around this issue.

If I just create a movie clip and set the live preview, all instances of the clip i put on stage update separatly from each other (their live preview that is). As soon as I change the clip to a component (export .swc or compiled clip) all the instances update together. eg if i set the component parameter 'title' - all titles of the all the instances on the stage will change. This didn't happen when it was just a movieclip - all instances changed separatly as i set them.

Aug 28, 2010I am trying to show BOTH the date and the time in Flex 3.5 Stock HOLC (high, open, low, close) Chart. This data shows up but not in the correct format... Problems:
1. The time are out of whack.. they do not line up with proper time.. (is it because they are not military time)?
2. The dates (days) do not show up on the bottom labels are all, is there a way to make this happen?
3. The times show up with large gaps... in the 24 hour period... Is this always the case when the data is not there for the time? Or, can I disable specific time periods like is possible with "disable days"

Professional :: Save Stock Footage As Flash File With Transparent Background?
Mar 8, 2010I have some stock footage of smoke on a black background (.mov format) that I would like to convert to a flash file with a transparent background, which I will be overlaying over a PNG image on a webpage.
I have managed to remove the black background in After Effects using a plugin called UnMult, but when I try to render as a FLV file in AE, even though I check the option to preserve the alpha channel and encode using the On2 VP6 codec, I still get a black background.
So I am wondering what else to try, whether it be with AE or Flash CS4. Is there a way of achieving this effect by directly importing the MOV file into Flash CS4 and removing the black background there, or do I have to use AE, and if so, how to achieve the effect I am looking for?
