how to make a button anchor to another page in the flash document? I made the pages with a basic flash tutorial, so I have other working buttons, but now I need to add other buttons and cannot seem to make them work. Here is my as:

The code below does the following - when you click on next it goes to step 2 which replaces step 1. This works but the problem I have is when I add the anchor like "2" on a flash button it goes to an empty page. What I want to know is how can I add this JS code into my Flash AS3 file so when I click on the flash button next it goes to step 2 instead of an empty page?

I have several AS3 flash movies embedded in html pages, and for whatever reason, when you tab through the page, when you get into the flash movie, you can't tab out. The tab just goes in a loop through the tabindex of the swf.
Is there a way that you can add a button or a little script in the swf, set it to the last in the taborder, and then make it set the focus on the page to a link/div/id/anchor in the html, (outside the swf)

View 15 RepliesWithin my flash file, some of the layers/objects go off of the sides of the document as I want them to. When I play the file within the test movie function within flash, the file plays fine and none of the layers that extend of the document cause problems(the samething happens when I play it in flash player). But when I open the file in a web broswer the layers that extended off the edges of the document show up. Is there anyway to get rid of this without having to redo the whole file? (ie, crop around the main document size, or set it to export only everything within the document and nothing that extends off of it?)

Therefore, I have created those components statically through Flash's WYSIWYG design environment. I gave them instance names "myTA" and "myTI" respectively. I was able to get my main class (the document class for the stage) to interact with them (dynamically adding text one character at a time like a typewriter at runtime), but other classes in the same package don't seem able to recognize the stage components. View 5 Repliesi have some preloader frustrations..dont point me to a previous preloader thread...i have been there already and no im not talking about any preloader that loads the WHOLE movie at the beginning, i know how those work... I need a tutorial/explanation that will teach me how to load a move 'button by button' or 'page by page'.
By this I mean, the first thing the movie will do is load the first 'page' and say you have a few more buttons on that 'page'. It loads all the buttons and that 'page' first..nothing else...then i click one of the buttons (no matter what order) and the 'page' switches to a preloader and then when the second 'page' is loaded, it is displayed.So many sites have this kind of preloader...but i cant believe how many tutorial sites only teach how to program the type of preloader that just loads the WHOLE movie.
is there a way to have (the postion of) objects be dependant of another one? I have attached a simple .fla file with two boxes (MovieClips) that grow in height. Since the position of the bottom box is constant, the top box soon expands "into" the one below so that parts of it are hidden. What I want is that the gap between those two objects stays constant (in this case 50px). So, is there any way to make the position of one object dependant on (the size of) another? Or is there any other "workaround"/tip you can give me?

The document's width is longer than the viewable screen so the person taking the survey has to scroll down to answer the remaing questions and hit the "continue" button to proceed to the next page/frame in the movie. When the user hits the "continue" button the next frame in the movie appears but the HTML page is still scrolled to the bottom. Is there any ActionScript I can inclued in the frame or continue button to make the movie/survey appear at the top of the html page when the user hits the "continue" button?#2
Is it possible to make the items in a List component sort randmoly? or maybe alternate between "ASC" & "DESC" order? Furthermore, there would be an "Other" option included in my list but I would like that to remain at the bottom of the list while the other items in the list were sorted randomly?
My website splash page is around 780x480 and the rest of the flash site is all 800x500. I'm not quite sure how to work this, but I want to have the splash page play automatically then go to the main page of the website. Can someone help me out with this? And does it matter that they are different sizes?

i work at this place that does tons of partner sites for our main company, that all the same site, just with different color schemes and logos. i'm in the middle of redoing a lot of the elements and making them flash based. i realized if i can have a way of maybe dynamically loading the colors on the page from an exteral php or xml document, that i would save myself and other much work in the future. does anyone know if a way to do this? to load the color of something from an external document? i'm taking about fill colors here. i think i've seen it done with componients, but is there a strictly actionscript method?
