I have a movieclip and have actionscript on a separate layer that controls the movie clip. However I want to be able to link to a URL when I click the button. Based on what I have does anyone know how to teak my code? Lets pretend the site I want to link to is "[URL]". Here's the code:

View 4 RepliesI'm just picking up flash and I am trying to make a new menu of buttons in the template and I will be changing the menu that is already there, but it isn't using conventional menu coding. This is the piece of code I am trying to use for my button to lead to a different movie clip to a different frame than the one the buttons are sitting in, a separate movie clip.

Of course there are more buttons, this is just one. Customhomes is the frame label, customhms_btn is the instance name. It tells me that customhms_btn is not defined. I have this code sitting in the movie clip that the buttons are in by itself in the first layer.
I have managed to create some buttons movie clips and understand how to link pages. The only question i have is how do you make the button/link for the current page highlight so the user can know what page they are on? Is there a way to have a current page indicator in flash as you can do with html/css?

But what im asking is, i want the button to display something (text field or movieclip(doesn't matter )) but I do not want it to go to another scene or frame if you know what i mean ? i want it to display there and then on the same scene and frame with a button to close it.. Is this possible?

I am creating a website in Flash CS5 and Im having trouble with linking a button inside a movie clip inside another movie clip. In theory it should work as ive tried but doesn't. I have a movieclip called content for the main/top level pages but then i have sub pages which I have created another movie clip content2
This is code I have (an example):

This code works in the top level pages. My porblem is linking from here to a sub level page (movieclip in movieclip).

I've done exactly the same as i would have for top level pages. How can this be fixed? Can it be done in AS2 if not can it be done in AS3 and what is a SIMPLE method in AS3 to link pages etc. I want to keep the pages/frames organised using movie clips to layer them. I want a good structure.

i created my subMenu buttons fine, however i only know how to link them to a picture/url address, my goal is to have the user click the subMenu button and open the image or page right below the menu bar in the "stage" area of flash. I read about IFrames but i'd rather create the whole site in flash .Here is the code for my subMenu...

What I am trying to do is get a button to make a movieclip go to a specific frame. I have a movieclip that plays a set of frames up to the 100th frame, and then I tell it to go back to and play frame 1 again. However, at about 105, I have another set of frames that I want to play at the push of a button. How would I go about doing this?
