im able to pull in an xml file, and push all the data in to arrays. Im pulling out this data and performing calculations on it. Now, iv created a varialble called _global.newLocation = _global.percentage*100;
which equals my percentage change, multiplyed by 100. It works because i have used trace and you can see it.
I would like to then take all these newLocations and put these in to an array so i can refer to them by their index but i just cant seem to get it to work?
I have a site with an SWF that I can put some metrics into, such as ZIP Code, Weight, etc.. then, it takes that info and gives me shipping rates.
I need to build a front-end site that I can have a forms page that will push data to the backend SWF, and then return the data back from the SWF to the front end.
Front-end -> SWF (Zip Code, Weight, Size) -> *Calculates* -> Front-End
That should be the flow.. So I need to send data to the backend, GET the data that it calculated, and return the results to my front-end.
Flash 8, I have some XML creating a few simple arrays. These pull some movie clips onto the stage with incremented names: product1, product2 and so on. Inside these clips I have some code that is supposed to pull data from the arrays and put that data into text fields.

I am doing a project that consists of AS3 in flash an importing an external xml data that will populate dynamic data in text fields in my flash project. The xml is all ready set up (pre existing) data. The structure of the XML Code looks like this:

My question to everyone is How do tell flash to pull specific dynamic data if all the datafields are exactly the same... I would think all data fields that are named have to be diffrent so when you script the code you are telling flash to go to that data source and pull from that record. If you have the same naming convention how does flash know which one to pull from if they all have the same name..
I'm trying to bring data from an sqlite database into a custom made menu. I have the menu working using an array with the code shown. But, now I would like the data to come from an sqlite database.
The code shown for the database, I have used for a previous job that pulled the data into a dataGrid. I now want that same data to put into my custom menu instead of a dataGrid. How would I change the second code to do this?
I think my main question is about the "watername_dg.addItem" in the second code below and how to change that to bring the data into my buttons.

I am currently scripting a Flash application at work which will pull data from an xml file (.jpg's and text) into template swf's created by our designers, for use in online product commercials, realty/property tours, etc. I am creating a loop which will pull data from the xml and load them with createEmptyMovieClip(). Here's the code:

I am not the heaviest with actionscript and I can get the first two pictures to load, but after that the pics get loaded into the duplicated clip. I tried my hardest to get the else block to dynamically increment the "dynPicNew" ( ex. load it into "dynPicNew" + _root.g ), but I can't nail it! How can I get the duplicateMovieClip() to increment the load target dynamically?
I'm using Flash CS4 as my IDE with Actionscript 3 and Flash Player 10. I'm working on a bigger project but the area I'm struggling in is dynamically pulling an image from the flash library (already loaded). I've been finding the same answers to my question all over and they seem to keep producing the same error so apparently I'm just not getting some little detail. I have an image loaded in the library called test1.jpg. I've right clicked on it and selected 'Export for ActionScript' and 'Export in frame 1'. The class is 'MyMc' and the Base class is 'flash.display.BitmapData'. My code is attached.

my normal work day involves screen sharing with a programmer while we engineer the software.We are currently working on a site that involves flash .as3(created with flash CS3) talking with an .asmx web service (created in Visual Web Developer 2005) that talks to a sql (2008)database.When can push or pull data from the database successfully, but we are experiencing a 15 second delay if more than one request from the database is made at the same time. i.e. two customers login at the same time, or one customer logs in and another submits changes to their account.
The second request will not be instant until 15 seconds have elapsed In other words, if someone sends logs in and another person logs in 10 seconds later, the wait will be 5 seconds.Of course, the delay is cumulative...so if 3 people log in simultaneously, there is a 30 second wait. Gross.This only occurs when we are trying to access the database...flash and the web service seem to talk great together otherwise.

My text field has all the ingredients it needs in order to pull this image in i.e. multiline, render as html etc.
When I compile my swf I can see that the text moves up and it looks like the image wants to be pulled in and yet it doesn't show.
Things I have tried: Variatons of the file. PNG, JPG, GIF Moved the file into the same folder as the XML file
build an image gallery on a site i'm building.The way I have built the site use sactionscript to pull the each different page through as an individual swf file. see: http:[url]....The page im putting the image gallery on is 'Virtual Tour'.When I test this specific page in flash it works fine, however when I view the master flash file and click 'Virtual Tour' then it doesnt pull the images through. View 4 RepliesI got four buttons that pull up images in a slide show. I want the fourth button to first pull the image in place and THEN shut down the movie clip. I thought this would be easy, but no. Unfortunately I canīt attach the fla-file on this forum. You could take a look at this:

It works in a sense. The movie falls into place when I click the button and the movie quits when I move the cursor. But it also means you might shut down the slide show involuntary when you move the cursor going for any of the other buttons. What can I do? I could point out that I'm not working with any frames here.

I am unable to get the exact look when i replace the image with new image.I took one sample program. In this one image will be rotating. I tried replacing this image with new one, but it's not working as old animation.(Actual Old animation is some thing like Moving a needle, after replacing the image with new one needle is rotating some thing like along the boundary of circle. I am unable to find the root cause and solution.I didn't changed any thing in the code.)How to get the smooth rotation?

I am trying to learn xml in flash myself and am findingit v.hard.All i am trying to do is create a little 'story' with 3 pages.I have content loading into flash but I am unable to get the next 'sibling' into an array e.g. the title. I can only get page1's title in the array but I can never get to page 2.Here is my xml:

This only traces the first title, how can i get to the second and the third so i can then display them in my text box?
I am retrieving the details from the database and printing them in the XML format. It's working pretty good and can even display the same XML format in the Flex. However, I am not sure, how to save this XML file to give it as a data provider for datagrid.

I've been unable to send data to a text file. I am making a news poster for a website, but free or any XML, php MySQL or anything else; so is it possible to send data to a .txt file using no other files? is it getLocals or something?
View 6 RepliesHave had a flash site created for a disc that works perfectly. Every component of the site works just as it is expected to.
But when I upload the site to a server on the Internet, one component does not work. When you click on the link an image should open in a popup window. The popup window opens but the image does not appear.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to figure out why it works on the disc and not on the server.
