ActionScript 2.0 :: Pull An Image Into A Movieclip Instance?
Jan 20, 2010
i cannot work out how to pull an image into a Movieclip instance.Would anyone mind taking a look at the attached xml and as2 files I am sure you will realise how much of a mess it is but at the moment the Search function works and pulls all the required info the only thing I cannot do is load the image into a movieclip.
I'm using Flash CS4 as my IDE with Actionscript 3 and Flash Player 10. I'm working on a bigger project but the area I'm struggling in is dynamically pulling an image from the flash library (already loaded). I've been finding the same answers to my question all over and they seem to keep producing the same error so apparently I'm just not getting some little detail. I have an image loaded in the library called test1.jpg. I've right clicked on it and selected 'Export for ActionScript' and 'Export in frame 1'. The class is 'MyMc' and the Base class is 'flash.display.BitmapData'. My code is attached.
and it produces the following errors:
quote:
1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 2. 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type MyMc to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject.
This is my code to impot an image + some data from a db. I'm unable to pull the data or the image (nothing appears).[code]
1. What am I doing wrong here? or is the issue is elseware? (I'm PUBLISHING this to Flash Player 9 and AS2.0 2. How can I code this without using the XMLParser?
I have a flash site I want to modify so that when any of the small images throughout the site are clicked a larger image will be pulled using PHP. I am not highly skilled with Flash or PHP.
build an image gallery on a site i'm building. The way I have built the site use sactionscript to pull the each different page through as an individual swf file. see: http:[url]....The page im putting the image gallery on is 'Virtual Tour'.When I test this specific page in flash it works fine, however when I view the master flash file and click 'Virtual Tour' then it doesnt pull the images through. Im not sure why this is, as if you view the swf directly then you can see the images do work: http:[url]....
I got four buttons that pull up images in a slide show. I want the fourth button to first pull the image in place and THEN shut down the movie clip. I thought this would be easy, but no. Unfortunately I canīt attach the fla-file on this forum. You could take a look at this:
[Code]...
It works in a sense. The movie falls into place when I click the button and the movie quits when I move the cursor. But it also means you might shut down the slide show involuntary when you move the cursor going for any of the other buttons. What can I do? I could point out that I'm not working with any frames here.
I have a movieclip instance named 'placeholder' on the canvas, and I want to change the alpha of the named movieclip from it's class without effecting the alpha of all the movieclips of the same type. How would I specifically target the named movieclip instance that is on the canvas?
For some reason, the same code works now, without any problem at all. I don't know what happened, or why, but I no longer have this problem Here's the original post: To put simply, I created a MovieClip, put it with addChild() to stage, and when I tried to call this piece of code:
I am trying to make a reference to a movieclip instance that is in another movieclip.
Here's the deal: I have a main timeline for different pages of a website...then within that I make all of the art on each page into a movieclip so I can do animations every time that main timeline frame is called to, yet still keep my main timeline clean.
Within one page's movieclip I have a few buttons that I want to use to go to other pages by referencing them on the main timeline.I have been using this: (home_about is the about us button on my home page, and frame 31 is on the main timeline).
home_about.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_6); function fl_ClickToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_6(event:MouseEvent) :void {[code].............
Since this home_about is within another movieclip,I get the access of undefined property error. Do I need to change the code I've pasted above or add in variable definitions to fix this?
I am trying to create an interactive graphic. Basically, it's three squares layered on top of each other, with a large square in back, a medium square centered in the middle of the large square, and a small square in front centered in the middle of the medium square.
When you roll over the medium square, say, it expands to almost the size of the large square and some text fades in, and the small square on top of it fades away. When you roll off of the medium square, it goes back to it's smaller size, and the small square fades back in.
Currently, I have the actionscript in the movieclip to make the medium square get larger and smaller (and the text fade in), but I need to somehow reference the instance of the small square movieclip to hide it when I roll over the medium movieclip.
My actionscript for the medium square activity, currently:
Does creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?
I have been trying for days now, to get this working but i'm not able to do so, i have been trying to get actionscript to load multiple instance of an image file using a for loop.
Would anyone be able to enlighten me on this? the other functions are located on a seperate actionscript file.
part of the code is as follows: (it works if i use the graphic class)
I have made a webpage, i want to show a flash video for 40 seconds when the page is opened. Then the Flash video should dissapear and the web page shall open. [code]...
My problem occurs when I try to load multiple images in one class in AS3.[code]My problem with this is, that every complete-method receives the same image. Sometimes they all get img1.jpg, sometimes they all get img3.jpg....I don't have any clue why this is happening.[code]Now the different Bitmaps and Loaders have distinct names and are called within the same method call. The event handlers now are inline.
I simply want to build a slide show from 80 images in my library. So my problem is to create instance of each image(mc) from the library to the stage using a loop
I'm writing a flash movie that creates a few boxes displaying an image that you can flying around the screen with a sort of gravity effect eventually slowing them down. I've managed to do what I thought would be the hard part... I've made a movie clip in which theres a button (to detect the clicks and drags) which contains a graphic (a .png file). After adding some nice bits of code, I can now stick loads of instances of the movie clip on the main stage and then start flinging them round.
Now what I want to do next is change the image displayed on the button in each instance of the movie. Logically, something like : myinstanceofmovie.nameofbutton.mygraphic="name_of_ other_image.png" ...or something...
How can I show an image that I have just captured with the webcam?I am able to save that image using PHP but before I save it, I want to show a preview. How can I do this? Here is a snippet of the code that I think can be used to do this:
ActionScript Code: foo = new BitmapData(640,480); foo.draw(myvideoobject, scaleMatrix);
I have want to tell a movie instance to play from a class:
`package com { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Global extends MovieClip
[code]....
pic1m is the class, but I get 1120 undefined property error. If I just put pic1m.play(); in my main timeline action layer it works fine, but I need the function playMask to be global in AS3...
I want to add a new instance of a MovieClip named chair_mc in my .as file but am not sure where to place it. I also want to bring in two other MovieClip symbols but am not sure where to place this. This is the code:
I am trying to get the instance name that i gave to a dynamically created movieclip the movieclip was created using var zebra_mc:Zebra = new Zebra(); //creating a new instance of the zebra class The movieclip was then added to the stage using a for loop, as it was contained in an array. Each time a movieclip is added to the stage it is then added to another array (existingObjects) I then need to iterate through this array and pull out each objects names. I have tried using existingObjects[i].name, which returns "instance140" and existingObjects[i].toString, which returns functionFunction(){}, very useful. and existingObjects[i] which just returns the object.
It seems that my code is problematic, because I assign one instance of a MovieClip to several variables, type MovieClip. The behaviour of others of my codes makes me think, that ActionScript does not make copies of the instance, but references all variables to this single instance. This behaviour now causes trouble. The solution I consider now, is to create copies of the MovieClip and assign them to my variables. Is there any code to copy a MovieClip?
I make several movieclips on the stage so they have names zombie1 zombie2 zombie3 etc. and I was wondering how to I assign a single variable to each of them.. rather than having to create 3 variables. For instance, var zombieHealth would need to be different for each instance, is there an easy way or do I have to create loads of variables in a for loop?
