I am trying to make a form in a Banner that when you click, it passes the info to the page and give you the information. I have been reading the PHP with emails, and its not getting the feilds to go to the page.
I have tried "loadVariablesNum" and "getURL" but nothing gets passed. I am useing a drop down, radio buttons, and a text box. Am I suppose to get the radio buttons into a var somehow?
I have a html/flash site now, [URL]. i access email from my site itself by giving the userid and pwd text box which i copied from the actual website hosting my email access. i copied the entire <form...></form> tag to my page and thus was able to put the name and pwd in my home page only and access the email in a separate window. now i have redesigned my webpage using only flash. i would like to know how i can implement the same using flash. as i have not much experience using action scripting i am a bit stuck about how you pass the hidden form variables. the below is the the exact form syntax:

I purchased a flash website template and am in the process of editing my main.fla file. In order to get listed on an advertising website with a higher rating, I have to place a reciprocal link to them on my site. However, I cannot figure out how to place an html link/banner on my site for other businesses. If I paste the html code in a text box, all that shows up is the html code rather than the image and link it is meant to generate.

The banner is used to attract people and have them suggest candidates for a competition.I suggested the option of possibly integrating an application form in the expandable banner, which after submission should land the user on the landing page of the site.
But after I suggested this, I started thinking:I can't recall having seen a form in an expandable banner for a long time. Because of this, I assume the use of forms in banners might be considered a big no-no. If this assumption is correct: I am trying to figure out why this is. I understand this will be partially off-topic, since the rationale might be in the realm of marketing, rather than programming.
Programmatically:Are there typical security or other concerns that keep professionals from using forms in banners? I'm thinking maybe csfr attacks, etc. here.Usability:Is using a form in an expandable banner a typical no-no from a usability perspective? I'm thinking maybe banners accidentally closing when filling out the form, or too little space to inform the user of the purpose of the form perhaps?
Maybe it's a combination any of these categories? Or maybe none at all. I'm kind of trying to figure out whether my assumptions are correct, and why. Hopefully someone can shed a light on this matter from the perspective of any of the three categories.
I created a banner with 9 in and out fading pictures. Also the navigation buttons are located in this banner. When I click on the navigation buttons in the banner and the next page is loaded, the banner starts playing at picture 1 again. Same goes for the navigation outside the banner. Is it possible to make the banner continue when you go to the nexte page? So when I click on a button while picture nmbr3 is showing and I get the next page it still is on picture nmbr 3 and not starting at picture nmbr 1 again.

Unfortunately it won't work to have the preloader loading at the top while the rest of the html below is visible — it will end up looking like the top navigation is cut off, as the top 10 pixels of the nav bar is actually in the swf header (fully loaded it will look contiguous)Is there a way to preload it in one html page and then once it's loaded into the cache automatically jump to the page with the big swf?

View 2 RepliesI have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

I've managed to get the services link to do what I'm after but that is because it is positioned straight after the opening animation in the timeline - that is to have the banner fade out and the bottom line drop down to allow room for the content. From the home page I want each of the links, when clicked, to fade out the banner and drop the banner line down......THEN.......if home is clicked from any of the other pages I want the banner line to move back up and the banner to resume (in my case this is frame 279)
i need to make a expandable banner pushdown the rest of the page, can it be done in actionscript 2.0 inside the .FLA??? or i need to do this with javascript?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a website which has advert banners which link to external pages.I've recently added the ability to have flash banners, but am stuck on how to make the banners link without editing the flash file.
The idea is that clients wanting to advertise on the site send a flash advert which is then linked to their site through the CMS, however unless the client embeds the link into the flash file, or add a flashvar parameter which can then pull in the info from the database, the flash banner doesn't link as it's seems not to link being surrounded by an <a> tag.
This is probably a well known thing, but this is my first time doing flash adverts, so I'm coming to it from a completely novice position.Is this something than anyone creating a flash advert would know about and instinctively do or will it need to be instructed to the client before hand, or is there a way to get it to be a link through html?

I need to allow users to preview audio files for purchasing. I have CF pages that return records form a SQL database. Each record contains the same swf file however, each swf file points to a different mp3 for previews of different audio examples. So far, everything is working fine. My problem is that I need to be able to stop the sound from one swf when I click to play a second swf .The only solutions I see in Flash forums deal with loaded swf files. These are not loaded files they are separate files within a page. The question is: How do control one swf from another swf in the same page.The following items have not worked: soundChannel.stop();,soundMixer.stopAll()
View 2 RepliesI've been working on my first full blown flash site for a few weeks, tackling problems as I encounter them, and I've learned a lot...but sometimes the simplest things I cannot figure out for the life of me. All I am trying to do is have some flash banner SWF files play within the portfolio page of my site. I don't want them to open in a pop up or anything just play within the page when the link on my site is clicked. I figured it would act like a movie clip and I could just drop it onto the stage, but when I do that it doesn't look right, loops continuously, and is not interactive. How can I make this work?
View 0 Replieswhen you go to the home.html page an animation will play from start and then stop at the end of it. However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"
The thing is that once uploaded in DART, my ad is not transparent so we always see the white screen where the ad expands.I know this problem is normally solved with wmode=transparent but the thing is that the person can't have an html code to put the wmode code.I wonder how I can set my flash banner to be transparent without html codes..Using Flash CS4 with ACS2! View 2 RepliesI have a site I have created for a client which features a flash header image, the only problem is he accessed a draft of the site on his iPhone and was put off by the fact it didn't display any of the head image as it was an iPhone (which as we know are not flash happy!). Also, I would need this anyway incase the visitor has flash turned off or uninstalled (I have provided the usual 'install flash' link when flash isn't displayed).Is there a way I can do this with just HTML/CSS or will I have to use JS or something similar?I have tried adding tags but this does nothing.
